It all began to flow towards him, a river of orange and gold light. A spiraling vortex of flame erupted around him. The sky above him began to glow, the clouds parting as if in deference to a new star being born.
Blackbeard's faltered as he see, his eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and avaricious glee.

He brought his arm down. The sun in his hand descended, a fiery god of destruction falling from the heavens, aimed for the heart of the abyss.
The very air crackled with heat as the attack moved forward, illuminating half the island in brilliant orange light. Buildings that had been reduced to smoldering ruins were now bathed in an even more intense glow as the Flame Emperor's power approached.
Blackbeard stood his ground, a wide grin splitting his face. "Is that the you got, Ace?" he roared, spreading his arms wide. "Darkness is the void that consumes all"
The other half of the island was plunged into absolute darkness as Blackbeard's powers manifested. The shadows seemed to take on a life of their own, merging into a entity of pure nothingness. The ground cracked and splintered under the pressure of the opposing forces.
The two attacks collided in the center of the island with earth-shattering force.
A shockwave radiated outward, toppling already weakened structures and sending debris flying in all directions.
Fire and darkness clashed in a spectacular display of elemental warfare flames licking hungrily at the void while the darkness swallowed the fire with insatiable hunger.
For a moment, it seemed as if Ace's attack might overwhelm Blackbeard. The flames pushed forward, consuming the darkness inch by inch. Ace allowed himself a small glimmer of hope.
But then, Blackbeard laughed a deep, rumbling sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the island. "You still don't understand, Ace! My darkness doesn't just block attacks it absorbs them Every bit of your power is making me stronger."
With a final surge of dark energy, Blackbeard's attack began to consume the flames entirely. The brilliant orange light was extinguished as if it were nothing more than a candle flame. The fire that had covered half the island was devoured by the encroaching darkness, leaving nothing but ash and emptiness in its wake.
Ace's eyes widen with disbelief. "Impossible..."
"Nothing's impossible when you have the right power" Blackbeard crowed. With a gesture, he commanded the darkness to reach out toward Ace, pulling him inexorably forward.
"No" Ace struggled trying to summon more flames but he can't do anything at all. The darkness seemed to drain his very energy, leaving him feeling weak and helpless.
Blackbeard yanked him closer, his grin turning malicious. "Time to feel the pain of defeat ACE"
He coated his fists in both his swirling darkness and the hardened purple of armament Haki. "This is the difference between us!"
The first punch connected with Ace's stomach, knocking the wind out of him. Blackbeard followed with a devastating uppercut to the jaw, then a barrage of punches to Ace's ribs and face. Each blow was enhanced by the crushing power of the Yami Yami no Mi and the reinforced strength of armament Haki.
Ace spat out a mouthful of blood, his vision blurring. He tried to fight back, but his flames were mere embers compared to their former glory. The darkness continued to sap his strength, leaving him powerless against Blackbeard's assault.
"This is the end of your story, Portgas D. Ace" Blackbeard roared, delivering one final, devastating punch that sent Ace crashing to the ground.
The once proud commander of the Whitebeard Pirates lay broken and bleeding in the dirt, his flames extinguished, his spirit crushed. Blackbeard stood over him, the victor darkness swirling around him like a cloak.
