Chapter 646 - Chapter 646: Scarlet Monastery

"Going into this dungeon feels like being a thief!"

"Well, it's Horde territory, what can you do?"

Ben was still a little nervous as they arrived at the Scarlet Monastery.

"Good thing that Alliance team took the heat for us, getting chased by three Horde squads." Zack sighed.

"Yeah, that was rough, but luckily they drew the fire." Ben chuckled sneakily.

"Ben, stop messing around, let's get inside." Zack told Ben.

"Okay, let's start with the graveyard, good place to farm some gear and level up." Ben nodded.

About the Scarlet Monastery dungeon:

The background is that it's the academy where the Scarlet Crusade trains new recruits.

It has four areas, and these four areas are also four smaller dungeons.

Compared to other dungeons that Alliance and Horde players have been to before like Deadmines or Shadowfang Keep.

Scarlet Monastery is a bit more difficult.

The Scarlet Graveyard and Scarlet Library are okay, but the Cathedral and Armory later on,

are much harder and the level ranges are also quite different.

It goes from level 30 to over level 40, which is why players can keep leveling in Scarlet Monastery from 30 to 40.

Also, compared to other places, the Scarlet Crusade set that drops in Scarlet Monastery is one of the best sets for warriors at this level.

It's much better than what other classes have at the same time, and even before level 50, the set's bonuses aren't weaker than mixed-and-matched plate armor, making it the best chainmail set at level 40.

Ben was after this set.

As they talked, Ben and the others entered the dungeon.

Unlike previous dungeons, the monsters in Scarlet Monastery are packed together.

And the monsters are quite unique.

There are warriors, priests, and mages.

Of course, compared to the original version, Lucas made many changes to the World of Warcraft he developed.

All of Azeroth is huge, but when you narrow it down to the Scarlet Monastery, you immediately notice that the dungeon's layout is more complex.

Also, each dungeon in Warcraft has its own unique story.

Scarlet Monastery is no exception, but compared to other dungeons, the Scarlet one makes you think. Especially when you remember the Arthas trailer from before.

In the game the Scarlet Monastery's first dungeon area is called the Graveyard of Virtue, but it's actually a place for cruel and inhumane acts.

Like Arthas, the Scarlet Crusade calls itself virtuous, but in reality is a bunch of crazy people who have been corrupted.

This was Ben and the others' first run, so they were very careful.

Even though they heard the Scarlet Graveyard wasn't hard, they still played it safe.

They pulled the two Scarlet Sentinels at the entrance and quickly took them down.

Then, looking at the damage meters, Ben smiled.

Someone on the team wasn't pulling their weight, but he wouldn't say who.

"Hey, should I change my talent build?" Zack asked Hannah.

"I don't think it's just the build." Hannah scratched her head.

Her Paladin, other than having cool-looking Holy Light skills, wasn't doing much.

It wasn't completely useless.

But if they had a Hunter or Mage instead, they'd be clearing much faster.

"Should I reroll? Leveling early on isn't slow, I can catch up quickly." Hannah said.

Lucas' changes to the Paladin class made it better than it was in the previous version of the game.

But compared to Mages and other classes, it's still a bit weak.

Although, it's better than Warrior, because they don't die every time they fight.

But when it comes to dungeons, Paladins are much less useful than Warriors right now.

"Don't worry, it's not that bad." Ben said to reassure her.

"Every version has its OP class, Paladins can't be that weak. This is an online game, and you're good at everything!" Ben coughed lightly and took the lead.

You need some green leaves to make the red flower stand out.

Why change classes? If she did, wouldn't he, as the Warrior, be in an awkward spot?

Scarlet Monastery's first beginner dungeon wasn't too difficult because Ben and the others played carefully.

The boss, Interrogator Vishas, was a complete joke.

He only had 5000 health and was completely useless.

The only memorable thing about him was what he said: "I will dig out all your secrets!"

After killing him, Ben, who wasn't allowed to loot, tried to beg for permission and reached out to touch the corpse.

A white fist weapon: Bloodied Knuckles.

"Say no more, I understand! I'll be a good dog and not touch bodies again." Ben looked frustrated. He had read some guides online before.

He knew that this boss could drop a blue weapon called the Iron Rod, but he obviously didn't get it.

After clearing some ghost mobs, the final boss in the Scarlet Graveyard was Bloodmage Thalnos.

Compared to the previous Interrogator, this guy was a bit stronger.

He had a lot of health, a full 7000 health.

He also had an AOE skill, but they had all played this dungeon before, and easily took him down.

It was Zack's turn to loot the corpse, and to Ben's surprise, a blue off-hand named 'Forgotten Prophet's Orb' dropped.

"Ben, see that? You're the kind of person who tried to sneak into Europe but got sent back, while I'm the kind of person who got stranded in Africa and became a lucky guy." After everyone passed on the item to Wells the mage, Zack laughed loudly.

"Am I really that unlucky?" Ben couldn't help but touch his head, starting to doubt himself.

What he didn't know was that compared to the low drop rate of the Interrogator's blue weapon, the blue off-hand that dropped from this Bloodmage boss actually had a much higher drop rate than the green shoulder piece.

......

Ben and the others spent the whole afternoon running dungeons in the Scarlet Monastery.

They also tried challenging the Scarlet Library after clearing the Scarlet Graveyard.

It was a bit more difficult than the Scarlet Graveyard.

The first boss, Houndmaster Loksey, was different from the previous Interrogator.

Even though Houndmaster Loksey didn't have much health, he could summon adds, a bunch of dogs he raised.

But what Ben and the others noticed wasn't how strong the boss was, but how funny his lines were.

He would shout: "Close the doors, release the hounds!"

The loot wasn't that good, a blue staff with average stats.

There was also a whistle that could summon a tracking dog, not very useful but a fun toy.

The only boss that was a bit difficult was Arcanist Doan.

Unlike the last guy who was supposedly a warlock but called himself a bloodmage and was a noob.

Arcanist Doan was a proper mage.

He had Polymorph, Silence, Arcane Explosion, all the skills you'd expect.

And as a mage boss, the loot he dropped was pretty good.

The two-handed Illusionary Rod had excellent stats.

But there was also a controversial item, the Hypnotic Blade.

This item was very strange.

From the way it looked, it was clearly a dagger, so it should be a Rogue weapon.

But the stats it gave were Intellect and Spirit, and it also boosted spell damage.

Combined with the Forgotten Prophet's Orb that dropped from the Bloodmage, the spell damage boost was pretty significant.

If it was just that it looked like a dagger but the stats were for mages, that would be okay.

But this thing also had high damage, not bad for a Rogue's dagger.

This made it hard to figure out, should the weapon go to the mages or the rogues!?

"Wow! This dagger is so weird!"

"High damage, but it gives spirit and intellect, and also spell damage and healing, how do we split it?!"

"How do we split it? Roll for it!"

"Let's go, time to prove who the lucky person is!"

Their teammate's voice came through the voice chat.

Ben was much calmer.

The fun was for other people, not him.

How many dungeons have they run?

Where's the Scarlet set?

He didn't even see a single piece!
