Chapter-49: unreasonable escort guards
Don't make trouble and don't be anxious. Lord Jeff rushed over and saw this scene, and shouted, "Stop it, everyone." The two sides were fighting fiercely and no one would listen to their advice.
Lord Jeff frowned, reached for his waist, drew out his long sword and was about to swing it out. "Boom..." Wendy Lark took a step ahead and threw the clay pot over, landing at the feet of the fighters.
The huge noise frightened everyone, and they involuntarily separated and took a few steps back. Lord Jeff looked at the crowd and asked coldly, "What's going on?"
The officer who lost the silver pointed at the Lark family father and son angrily and said, "Boss, they stole my money. They are all thieves."
Tom Lark's face was swollen, and he felt angry, anxious, and aggrieved. "You are talking nonsense. How could I steal your money?"
"Bullshit." The official who lost the silver was even angrier than him, his hair standing on end.
"I saw it with my own eyes, and you still want to quibble? You actually stole it from me. You must be tired of living. Boss, let's follow the old rules. The thief will be beaten with fifty sticks and one of his hands will be crippled."
The onlookers gasped, is it so serious? Mary's face changed when she heard that. "No, no, no, my eldest son can't be a thief. There must be some misunderstanding..."
The officer who lost the silver picked up the purse that fell on the ground and asked angrily, "This is the purse where I put the silver. How did he get it? You and your son are the only ones who have approached me all day. If it's not you, who else could it be?"
Yes, the only people who can get close to him are his companions and the Lark family members who do odd jobs. "Boss, this time we must punish them severely. We must let all the prisoners know the consequences of offending the officials."
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere suddenly changed and the prisoners looked frightened. Deputy Captain Luke frowned, "Tom Lark, you said you didn't steal it, do you have any evidence to prove it?"
Tom Lark opened his mouth. How can this be proved? The officer who lost the silver became angrier the more he thought about it.
"It couldn't be anyone else's except him. I knew I shouldn't be soft hearted towards these prisoners and shouldn't have taken off the shackles. If they dare to steal my purse today, they will dare to put drugs in my food in the future."
A cold voice sounded, "Are you talking about me?" It was Wendy Lark. Her pair of black eyes was frighteningly cold. The official felt inexplicably guilty, and he turned hostile just after eating her food, as if he was swearing at her.
But then he thought, what is there to feel guilty about? "Your whole family is not a good person. You are a nest of snakes and rats. Boss, don't be fooled by her innocent face."
What's the use of having good skills? Your life is more important. After he said this, the officers felt uncomfortable. They thought they had discovered a treasure, but who knew... What if he holds a grudge and puts drugs in the food... Another officer echoed,
"Boss, I think what Brother Wade said is right. We can't just let this go. Who will obey us in the future?"
Lord Jeff stared at Tom Lark calmly, "I'll ask you one last time. How you prove that you didn't steal the purse?"
"I..." Tom Lark was about to cry. How could he prove this? He seldom went out and had hardly seen the world. If he suddenly encountered something like this, he would be doomed.
Lord Jeff could see that he was a very honest man and the silver might not have been stolen by him. But the world is not black and white. For him, the loyalty of his subordinates is the most important thing. "Drag him out and give him fifty lashes."
He subconsciously glanced at Wendy Lark, only to see her eyes searching the crowd. What is she looking for?
"Yes..." Tom Lark's face was as pale as paper, he was frightened out of his wits, beads of sweat oozed from his forehead. Wilson Lark and his wife rushed over and hugged their son tightly. "Don't hit him… hit me if you want to." Fifty strokes of the cane would kill a man.
The atmosphere was terribly tense because of the sudden change of the situation when Wendy lark is close to the officers that promised to protect her and her family has turned against them because of few coins of silver.
"Sir, please ask again. Fourth brother is not that kind of person." It was Jessica Lark who spoke. Rita Lark from the third room bit her lip and agreed, "Let's check it out again."
After all, we all have the surname Lark, and if one person is dead, the other will be in trouble. This seemed to be a precedent, and other members of the Lark family began to speak up to plead for mercy.
Wendy Lark was very surprised that it was the two girls who stood up and spoke first at the critical moment. The escort guards rudely pulled aside Wilson Lark and his wife who were in the way and dragged Tom Lark out.
Wendy Lark shouted coldly, "Slow down." Lord Jeff's voice became a little colder. Third Miss Wendy Lark has always been smart, but now she doesn't know how to advance or retreat.
"Miss Wendy Lark, this is a serious matter. I'm sorry I can't give you this face." Wendy Lark was not afraid at all, but looked calm and said.
"I have three questions." Without waiting for the other party to ask back, she continued,
