Aizen Sōsuke was a little surprised at first and said, "I didn't expect that the great Kidō Chief would also have a moment of confusion."
"Haha, I'm not like you, a god without emotions," Yuta laughed at himself and replied, "If the price of becoming a god is to become heartless, then I would rather remain human.""
"Is there such a thing as the way of love?..." Aizen Sōsuke continued, "In fact, I think the problem that the Great Ghost-General posed was flawed from the very start.""
"From the perspective of the whole, justice lost its balance of consideration."
"A group cannot consist entirely of good people, nor can it consist entirely of bad people."
"Good and evil are two sides of the same coin."
"It is because good people exist that bad people do as well."
"There are good people only in contrast to bad people."
Yuta thought for a moment, holding the chess piece in his hand as though remembering something. "I recall a fairy tale from my homeland.""
"In that story, humans and demons coexisted."
"Humans often believed demons were inherently evil and had to be exterminated."
"But the story showed that there could be good demons and bad humans."
"So to say 'humans are righteous and demons are evil' is not correct."
"On the other hand, to say 'humans are evil and demons are kind' is also wrong."
"Good and evil can only be defined within an individual."
"But what if a demon kills its own kind and consumes countless humans, leaving families broken and lives destroyed, without ever repenting... and yet, this demon contributes to the survival and prosperity of its race, even helping to save the world? How should we judge that?"
"This theory of humans and demons is interesting," Aizen Sōsuke said calmly. "But the matter is far more complicated.""
"Generally, the relatives of the humans that demon killed would want to take revenge. But if they knew that demon also aided in saving the world, their blades might hesitate."
"Different people would make different choices-either to kill, out of hatred, justice, and loss,or to spare them out of recognition of their contribution."
"A soft-hearted person might tell themselves that because this individual benefited the world, they should live."
"A hard-hearted person might tell themselves that this individual, who never repented and continues their violence, should die regardless of their contributions."
"Different perspectives, different positions, and different experiences all lead to different answers."
"In front of you and me, however, the matter is very simple. Whether the world is saved-or destroyed-falls only to us, never to others. Whether the others have strength doesn't matter. They will die all the same." Aizen spoke without displaying emotion.
"Sōsuke, you are indeed cold," Yuta said with a short laugh.
Then he unsheathed his blade and thrust it into Aizen Sōsuke's form. No blood spilled. The body of Aizen before him dissolved into particles of spirit matter and faded away on the wind. It had been nothing but a projection.
...
Las Noches
Upon his throne, Aizen Sōsuke opened his eyes.
He hadn't expected Yuta to discern the projection conjured by the Hōgyoku, but it wasn't impossible. Yuta was not so easily deceived. Capturing Inoue Orihime while Yuta was away was a rare opportunity he could not waste.
He shifted his gaze toward Orihime below. The moment she met his eyes, Orihime's pupils contracted with fear.
What… what is this feeling?
This overwhelming sense of oppression pressed all strength from her body, as though her power had been drained completely. Just the act of looking at him filled her with the terror that she would collapse on the spot. Was this the man who sought to end the world?
The suffocating weight in those eyes was something she had never felt before, even compared to Hideki Yuta. Yuta's presence was commanding but never suffocating; Aizen's was crushing, absolute, and cold-like a blade waiting to cut her down without hesitation.
"It seems some of you still do not understand why we have brought you to Hueco Mundo. Inoue Orihime, why don't you demonstrate your abilities? Right, Luppi?"
At that moment, Luppi, the former Sexta Espada, stood battered and bloodied. After facing the likes of Hitsugaya Tōshirō and Madarame Ikkaku, she looked both enraged and humiliated. "Of course I don't understand!" she snapped bitterly. "So much effort from somany of us-for a mere human?""
"Focus on healing Grimmjow's arm," Aizen said calmly, resting his chin upon his hand, his gaze steady.
"This is absurd, Aizen-sama! Grimmjow's arm was reduced to ashes. How could it possibly be restored? She's no god," Luppi said with defiance, though her voice held a faint edge of disbelief.
Inoue Orihime's trembling voice rose, "Sōten Kisshun… I reject."
Immediately, the impossible occurred-Grimmjow's arm restored itself before their eyes, flesh and bone reappearing whole as though it had never been destroyed.
"What?" Luppi's eyes widened in shock. "This is impossible! How can a human possess such an ability?"
"You still don't understand," Aizen said without shifting his gaze. "Ulquiorra believes Inoue Orihime's power is spatial regression-or temporal regression." His tone did not change as he continued, "But in reality, it is neither. Orihime Inoue's ability is the 'Rejection of Events.' She denies what has already occurred, reverting the target back to a state as though it had never happened. This ability transcends both space and time. It is a power that infringes upon the domain of the gods themselves.""
Grimmjow stared at his restored arm wide-eyed before breaking into wild laughter. "Ha… Hahahaha! My arm! My arm is back!" His grin turned feral before he drove his hand straight through Luppi's chest. "Farewell, former Sexta!"
Luppi's body disintegrated into ash from the blast of a Cero. She was gone in an instant.
"My strength is back!" Grimmjow roared with renewed vigor. "I am the Sexta Espada, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez!"
Unmoved, Aizen turned once more to Orihime. "Now, come with me. There is something only you can do."
