"...Nemu understands."
Yuta nodded, smiled kindly, and touched Nemu's head. "As long as you understand. I've always been gentle."
After saying that, Yuta walked out of the captain's office. When he came to the hall, he clapped his hands and walked over to a computer. "Everyone, come here."
With a rush of footsteps, Akon, Hiyosu, and the other members of the 12th Division gathered together. As Yuta turned back to them, he muttered in irritation.
"You people are far too lacking in knowledge. Everyone is backward, like primitive humans."
He frowned and gestured at the computer.
"It's a miracle Mayuri ever managed to lead the Gotei 13's research and development division at all."
"In addition to medicine after medicine every day, there are medicines, and more medicines…"
"There are barely a few that are worth looking at. The rest are complete trash."
He shook his head.
"No advancement in the technological tree at all. No network systems, no quantum computing, no AI, no nanotechnology, no higher-dimensional models, and no advanced containment science..."
"Day after day wasted on human experimentation…"
"Developing temporary gigai bodies, developing mod-soul experiments…"
"But no one has pursued a perfected serum, only poisons and unstable innovations…"
Yuta tapped the desk firmly with his hand.
"Let me teach you what true advancement in science actually looks like. If we move forward properly, Aizen doesn't even need to make a single move. With one strike, it would be over."
Hiyosu and Akon froze, staring at him with confusion. The other researchers exchanged glances, equally stunned.
What? What is he talking about?
They understood each word separately, but together, none of it made sense.
Quantum? Artificial intelligence? Two-way foil? Super serum?
Was their new captain serious?
Or had he simply lost his mind?
Kill Aizen with one shot? With what kind of weapon? Would that not destroy the Soul Society itself?
Mayuri's experiments might have been cruel, but at least his research was tangible to them. This was something else entirely. Even the name "two-way foil" alone made them uneasy, as though the words carried a threat they couldn't see.
One thing was clear: they hoped Yuta wouldn't take them too far down this path. If their captain worked too hard and pushed them too far, perhaps it would bring more disaster than progress. Some even thought it would be better if the division became lazier under his command, with simple workdays and undisturbed rest, rather than dangerous breakthroughs that might lead to ruin.

First Division.
Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni sneered as he rubbed his nose after sneezing once.
"Appointing Yuta as captain of the 12th Division was the correct choice after all…"
---
Back in the 12th Division, Yuta addressed his subordinates again.
"But advancement requires patience. You climb by taking one step at a time, not by leaping everything at once."
He pointed to the computer.
"We will begin with nanomaterials first. I've already input the initial research direction into the system. Follow that path."
He tossed three beads in his hand and made ready to depart for the Tsunayashiro family estate. As Yuta left the room, Nemu, fully dressed now, stood outside the door listening to every word of his speech. She stood still, her eyes fixed, her attention intense as if absorbing every term she didn't yet understand. The light in the corridor reflected in her eyes as she stood there unmoving until Yuta was gone.
Finally she stepped forward, following him briefly-until his voice stopped her.
"You're not suited to follow me where I'm going next. Stay in the 12th Division."
"Yes," Nemu replied quietly, halting in place. She stood and watched until Yuta left the division grounds, only then turning back toward the hall. Inside, the other members immediately questioned her.
"Vice-Captain, what happened to the former Captain Kurotsuchi?"
"Yes, why was he suddenly replaced with Captain Yuta?"
"He even called us together to report to him as the new captain."
Nemu stopped, looked over the gathering and said calmly,
"Captain Kurotsuchi is dead. He was killed by the current Captain Yuta."
The division members froze in silence, taken aback by the bluntness of her words. But soon, they began to accept it without much resistance. Many of the lower-ranked researchers had long disliked Mayuri's methods. They even felt relief knowing the one who had treated them as disposable subjects was gone. Now, at least they wouldn't have to fear being turned into bombs without warning. With a new captain in place, perhaps things could change.
The seated officers did not show much outward emotion. Hiyosu exhaled slowly and muttered,
"Well… Division 11 has always been where the strongest replaced the strong by force. If Mayuri was killed by Captain Yuta, then our new captain is the stronger one. As long as he does his job well, that's all that matters."
Beside him, Akon lowered his head slightly, his expression heavier. Though Mayuri had been harsh and cruel, Akon had worked with him for years and still carried a trace of regret for how it had ended. Memories of shared experiments and work weighed faintly on his mind, but he stayed silent.

Meanwhile, Yuta made his way through the Seireitei's inner court and approached the Tsunayashiro family estate. The three beads spun slowly in his hand as he walked. Whatever had become of the Tsunayashiro family under Tsunayashiro Riku, he was about to find out.
Guards filled the grounds, yet none stopped him. Their eyes passed over as if he was unnoticed, unseen entirely in their perception. The effect of Kyōka Suigetsu's release remained absolute. With it active, there was no place in the Soul Society he could not walk, save the Royal Palace itself.
He entered the estate and found Tsunayashiro Riku seated in a noble chair. The man looked pale and weakened, coughing into a white handkerchief. When he pulled it away from his lips, faint traces of blood stained the cloth.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Riku looked up and saw Yuta. The guards remained motionless at their posts, oblivious to his presence. Narrowing his eyes briefly, the noble forced a calm smile.
"So it is Yuta-dono… I wonder, why have you come to the Tsunayashiro family estate today?"
Yuta glanced at him lightly.
"It seems you've been using that Zanpakutō too often…"
His gaze fell to the blade at Riku's side. The strange weapon radiated a dark and consuming aura that seemed to swallow at the soul itself. Riku covered his mouth again with the handkerchief, chuckling dryly before rising to his feet.
"Not everyone possesses power like yours, Yuta-dono. At times, to pursue one's resolve, sacrificing one's soul is the only path."
Yuta walked forward and sat down in a chair.
"This time, I came to request three fragments of the Soul King."
The moment the words left his mouth, Riku's movement stilled completely.
