Chapter 91: The Power of a Dragon!
On the grassland near the Royal Palace, Alan was constantly flying back and forth using Agility, trying to find the feeling of Extreme Speed. Nearby, Gligar, Charizard, and the others were being besieged by a herd of ten Ampharos. Since Alan's return, their training had become much more intense, focusing on teamwork and practical combat experience.
"Agility is still lacking something," Alan sighed.
Extreme Speed was essentially an evolved version of Quick Attack. If he knew Quick Attack, comprehending it would be much easier, but the Dragonite line couldn't learn it.
"Let's try Agility plus Take Down," he muttered. He disliked recoil moves, but the combination of Agility's speed and Take Down's momentum should simulate the effect.
By the time he finished contemplating, Gligar and the others had all collapsed. He fed them some herbs, and after a short rest, they were ready to continue. The great war was imminent, and there was no time to rest.
For the next few days, Alan practiced nonstop. Finally, on the fifth day, [Extreme Speed] appeared on his panel.
"Phew... After mastering this move, I can go to Dragonite Valley whenever I want," he grinned. More importantly, it meant he could escape from any Pokémon he couldn't defeat.
In the sky above the Royal Palace, Alan stretched his limbs, preparing to test his new speed.
[Extreme Speed]
Whoosh!
A stream of white light pulsed behind him, and he shot forward like a rocket. The residents below only saw a streak of orange light flash across the sky. In the air, Alan wasn't feeling very good. The wind scraped against his face with a stinging sensation, and the scenery flew by too fast for his brain to keep up.
"Hard to control," he grunted, trying to turn. The speed was immense, and he could only manage a slight tilt. He needed to slowly increase his proficiency.
"It truly is the key to a Dragonite's power," he thought, squinting his dry eyes. Extreme Speed was Dragonite's most core move, the reason it was jokingly called the "Extreme Speed Jinchuriki" in the fan communities of his past life.
"I have to start stopping," he realized, seeing the forests of Mt. Silver already in his sights. He tried his best to slow down, but it was like trying to stop a freight train.
"Oh no."
Boom!
He crashed into the forest like a meteor, plowing a dozen-meter-long trail through the trees. The impact felt like he had used Brave Bird, but he was mostly unharmed, a testament to his durable body.
"Let's fly back again."
He picked up a few berries and, without stopping, used Extreme Speed again. This time, he started decelerating much earlier.
"About thirteen minutes..." he panted, lying on the grass in the palace courtyard. The round trip to Mt. Silver that used to take an hour now took only thirteen minutes, including the crash and the early deceleration. With more practice, he could likely cut it down to ten.
