Chapter 112 - Tang Hao is Frustrated

Chapter 112: Arriving at Spirit City, Tang Hao is Frustrated

It was already dusk. Two spirited horses, worth a thousand gold pieces each, trudged wearily along the official road after a thousand-mile journey.

One rider, dressed in a black, tight-fitting suit, yawned lazily. The other, holding a map, pointed to a city in the distance. "Tomorrow is the Sect Competition," he said loudly. "It seems we've made it!"

The other man was indifferent, merely responding with a faint, "Oh."

"Brother Hao, this is your first time in Spirit City, isn't it?" asked the man with the map. "This is the holy land of the Spirit Master's world, home to the revered Douluo Hall. Aren't you excited?"

The man in the tight suit frowned, his face full of disdain. "What holy land? It's just self-proclaimed glory. As for the Douluo Hall, even their Hall Master was defeated by our Clear Sky Clan. How can they be called revered?"

These two were the brothers Tang Xiao and Tang Hao. They had set off for Spirit City as soon as they received their father's letter, but Tang Hao had been unenthusiastic, frequently stopping to use "training" as an excuse to fight ten-thousand-year Spirit Beasts. It was only thanks to Tang Xiao's urging and their overnight travel on fast horses that they had finally arrived in time.

They rode to the city gates and showed their Clear Sky Clan disciple tokens. The city guards did not stop them, but as they were about to enter, the lead guard spoke.

"Dismount," he said expressionlessly. "Spirit City prohibits riding horses inside."

Tang Hao's eyes turned cold, and his hand gripping the reins tightened. "What if I refuse?"

The lead guard said nothing more. With a wave of his hand, a hundred city guards—all Spirit King level cultivators—simultaneously raised their lances and roared in unison, "Dismount! Take another step, and you will be killed without mercy!"

"Haha… What a Spirit Hall, what a Spirit City!" Tang Hao was never a good-tempered person. When did Clear Sky Clan disciples need people from Spirit Hall to dictate to them? No one had ever made him dismount, not even in the capitals of the Two Great Empires.

White light pulsed from his palm. Just as he was about to release his Slaughter God Domain, Tang Xiao stopped him. "Brother Hao, don't be impulsive."

Tang Xiao then turned to the lead guard. "As far as I know, the Crown Princes of the Two Great Empires were also invited. Does this rule only apply to our Clear Sky Clan, or perhaps to all of the Upper Three Clans?" Compared to his brother, Tang Xiao's actions were much more seasoned.

However, a single sentence from the guard left him speechless: "They didn't ride horses; they all came in carriages."

Tang Xiao's face twitched. Helplessly, he pulled the dark-faced Tang Hao from their horses, leading them into the city.

"Big brother, why must we endure such annoyance?" Tang Hao said loudly, as if deliberately for the guards to hear. "They are merely a bunch of Spirit Hall lackeys."

He was certain the guards wouldn't dare to do anything to them. In the past, this would have been true. But now, it was different.

"Heh, they really think being a disciple of the Upper Three Clans makes them special," someone at the city gate sneered. "So what if they're the Clear Sky Twin Stars? This afternoon, when facing our Second Majesty and Second High Priest, his father, the Clear Sky Clan Master, didn't even dare to let out a fart."

The other guards joined in. "And that Bone Douluo from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan wanted to secretly assassinate our Second Majesty, but the Second High Priest crippled his leg and gouged out an eye on the spot. Even their Clan Master Ning Fengzhi was so enraged that he vomited blood and fainted."

"Bastards!" Hearing them insult his father, Tang Hao was so furious his teeth almost shattered. He spun around and released his Slaughter God Domain. A colorless light spread over the soldiers, but those who could become Spirit City guards were no weaklings. A hundred Spirit Kings released their Martial Souls in unison, their combined power forming a barrier that even Tang Hao's domain could not break.

"Tang Hao, does your Clear Sky Clan intend to declare war on my Spirit Hall?" the lead soldier questioned sharply.
