Chapter 16 - "Shiho and Vermouth"

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Vermouth had just obtained the Demon Mask but wasn't familiar with how to use its powers.

Edgar naturally had to assist her.

But when it came to the Demon Mask, he was also fumbling in the dark. All he could do was explore it bit by bit.

Before long, they ran into a major obstacle.

Edgar furrowed his brow but stayed calm and focused as he tried to break through it.

Vermouth looked like she'd just been struck by lightning but gritted her teeth and pushed through.

"Let me try using the Demon Mask's power again."

Edgar reminded her, though there was a slight smirk on his face.

Vermouth hadn't lied after all.

Otherwise, the breakthrough wouldn't have been this difficult.

Thankfully, he now had some experience, so he could handle it more calmly.

"Understood, Master,"

Vermouth replied in a trembling voice, then activated the Demon Mask's power.

She had a wealth of knowledge and experiences, and various figures began to emerge in her mind.

Suddenly, Edgar's eyes lit up.

This skill—Demon Mask—was ridiculously deep and mysterious.

Now he could confirm it:

The Demon Mask's power really could perfectly mimic others.

Meanwhile—

Watching from the sidelines, Shiho Miyano had a strange expression on her face.

Everything in front of her looked like she was staring into a mirror.

This Vermouth woman… she clearly had an obsession with her, right?

She was using her as a model most of the time!

"This woman is seriously the worst…"

Shiho gritted her teeth in frustration.

But it was like she was under a curse—her strength was completely drained.

Buzz!

A magic circle lit up, wrapping her in its glow.

Like a king summoning his subject, Edgar called her over with ease.

That familiar weightless sensation came again, and Shiho once more found herself plunged into the deep sea.

It felt like she was drowning—and in the end, the only thing she could cling to… was Shiho Miyano herself.

Eventually, she didn't even have the energy to struggle anymore.

[Vermouth]

Race: DemonMaster: Edgar Lucifergus

Level: LV10

Skill: Demon Mask

Demon Mask: Can freely change appearance, voice, and even aura. Perfectly mimics another person.

[Shiho Miyano]

Race:DemonMaster: Edgar Lucifergus

Level:LV13

Skill:Heart of Magic

Heart of Magic: No magic in the world holds secrets from you. Mastery comes quickly and effortlessly.

Seeing both of their status screens, Edgar raised his eyebrows slightly.

This leveling speed… was honestly kind of insane.

Especially Shiho Miyano.

It had only been a few days, and she was already this strong.

At this rate, it wouldn't be long before she became a high-ranking demon.

"And I'm not walking away empty-handed either."

Feeling the magical energy building up inside him, Edgar murmured to himself.

The stronger Shiho got, the more experience he gained.

"Looks like I'll need to help my familiars grow more often."

With that thought in mind, he glanced over at Akemi Miyano with a subtle, meaningful look.

"M-Master, I just remembered something I need to take care of!"

Without waiting for a response, Akemi practically bolted from the room in a panic.

She definitely wasn't ready for that kind of situation.

"..."

Edgar blinked a few times and then let out a chuckle with a shake of his head.

Oh well.

She was already his familiar anyway.

There was no rush.

Thanks to his Demon King physique, Edgar wasn't even tired after two back-to-back battles.

However...

Looking at the marks all over his body, he figured it was time for a shower.

Everything felt sticky and gross—seriously uncomfortable.

Later That Day – Around Dusk In the dining room.

Akemi Miyano was yawning while slowly picking at her food.

"Didn't sleep well, sis?" Shiho asked.

"It's all your fault," Akemi replied with a hint of resentment in her tone, shooting her sister a tired look.

She couldn't sleep at all last night because of all the noise.

And then there was round two in the morning!

She didn't even get the chance to nap.

Every time she closed her eyes, all she could see were those scenes she couldn't describe out loud.

It was absolute torture.

"Ara~ I slept great, actually,"

Vermouth said with a cheerful smile, resting her chin in her hand. "Feeling super refreshed, too!"

Honestly, even she was surprised.

She should've been exhausted.

But instead—

She felt not only well-rested but also way stronger than before.

Could it be because...

Her gaze instinctively drifted toward her Master.

"Vermouth, any updates on the Black Organization?" Edgar asked casually.

"Yes, Master," she replied immediately. "I arranged a quick emergency meeting."

"Renya Karasuma has confirmed he'll be attending."

"Good."

Edgar nodded and took a few more bites of food.

"Alright, once everyone finishes eating, we'll move out."

"..."
