Xavier's POV
"How's she now? Is she awake?" I asked the maid who had just walked out from my chambers after attending to Zara's needs.
My mind wasn't settled since the time the doctor left and had urged that I give her more than enough time to rest and also get back her lost strength. He had said she was fine, but I wanted to be sure that she was.
"She's…. she's awake." The maid responded with a stutter and was about to say something else but I couldn't even wait to listen to the rest of her words before taking long strides down the hallway.
I was eager to see Zara who had fallen into an unconscious state from the moment I had her in my arms in the forest. It had taken me a great deal to not go in search of the perpetrators to dare to harm her in that spot.
Her well being was priority first and it was so much of a relief to hear that she was finally awake.
"Zara?!" I called for her the moment I got to the door of my chambers.
