『Hakari Kotaro』
"Hup!"
Crash!
I spun midair as my Bikaku lashed out at the large boulder, I winced at the feedback of hitting something so solid, like punching the wall but still broke off a decent portion of the stone with my strike.
Before I touched the ground, I tried my best to channel Hemokinesis through the Bikaku. Making it bubble as instead of one large thick tentacle it split down the middle and stabbed the ground before I fell, letting me lower myself safely before they merged back together, and I wiped the sweat off my forehead.
That was... fucking tough.
A thought had come to my head while I was idly restocking the nurses office. The Bikaku was made out of RC cells, Red Child Cells. And Red Child Cells were a lot like blood, very much like it even, even if they were described as like liquid muscle. Just like Blood had Red Cells, White Cells, Ghouls also had Red Child Cells. So I wondered if I could affect my Kagune with Hemokinesis.
Yes and no.
I already had a bit of control over the shape and size of the Bikaku, and that was amplified massively when I had Hemokinesis equipped. I could precisely feel where my Kagune Sac was but manipulating the structure of the Bikaku itself on the fly was very difficult, it was like trying to turn a steering wheel that was gunked up with tar.
It was a large work in progress.
Clapclapclapclap!
I snapped around to the sound of clapping coming from behind me, and I saw her, again. The girl from yesterday, the third year, Nejire Hado, she was just standing there with an expression of both wonder and interest while clapping earnestly as if she just watched a cinema film.
"Wow! So you can make a tail too, Lion-kun! Can I touch it? How does it feel? Does it have nerve endings? How does it split like that?"
Again, without waiting for a response from me, she walked forward without any reservation and placed her hands on my tail, feeling it up with bright eyes as I stood there like a statue, trying to think of what to do. And why do girls like my tail so much? It's like they are moths drawn to a lamp whenever I take it out.
"It... does. Though they are not very sensitive. They are kinda somewhere between solid and liquid- what are you even doing here?"
I shook my head and remembered that, no, I did not have to explain myself, and why was my pretty upperclassman watching me train?
She tilted her curiously while still holding my tail like it was a fish she had caught.
"It feels really smooth, soft and rubbery at the same time, woah. I told you already didn't I? I wanted to see your abilities, it sounds very interesting, Lion-kun!"
My brows furrowed. I had already seen a bit of her, but she was rather... airheaded, wasn't she?
How do you even respond to that?
It wasn't like I really minded, but I felt viscerally awkward, it was like this girl operated at her own pace.
"...Be my guest? You wanna keep watching?"
She nodded and whined slightly as I withdrew my tail.
"Yup, though I'd really love to hear about your quirk. How many quirks do you have? What is that tail one? What was the healing one? Can we please have a Q&A?"
Nejire got closer and closer until our noses were almost touching. I blinked, dumbfounded.
"I guess I could take a break if you are that curious."
Maybe she'd give some advice on my abilities, she was my senior after all, and I was still new to this while Ability-using thing, despite how naturally I do it.
I sat down and retracted the Bikaku back into me while I turned on Seek Guidance.
'Cutie Patootie ahead.'
'Angel ahead, try being nice, or damnation.'
'Ahh Goddess.'
'Try cooperation.'
'Friend ahead.'
'Time for Romance.'
'Ahh Lover.'
'Bed, therefore, wrestle.'
Alright so Seek Guidance is definitely biased here.
Seeing me look at the ground, Nejire crouched in front of me and looked at the ground too. And from this angle I could look directly up her skirt and see her white panties, nice.
"What are you looking at Lion-kun? Is there something on the ground? Or are you feeling down or something? Tamaki does that a lot. Would you like me to pet your head if you are feeling down?"
I shook my head. Seek Guidance is one ability that I'd never tell anyone other than Toga or maybe Nezu. It was a creepy ability for others to know.
"Nah, I was just shuffling my abilities around. I have some time to talk, Nejire-senpai. What did you want to know first?"
She smiled and almost bounced with excitement. The bounce of her hefty chest was definitely a factor in me agreeing.
"Oh! I have so many questions to ask."
As Nejire rapidly fired off questions, I answered her like how I got abilities and how I could only keep a few abilities on me and how it could give me objects. She was like Deku but her excitement was less creepy. Mostly helped by the fact that she was a pretty girl and not a shaggy high school boy, no offense to Bro. But Nejire was fun to talk to.
She had an infectious kind of enthusiasm that made even me feel like talking about my abilities. Her curiosity was probing, but the fun kind if that made sense. It was probably the fact that she was just genuinely interested instead of any kind of probing. Though, I felt like I had talked about my quirk enough as I got up and stretched my arms, with her following along.
"So, Nejire-senpai. What's your quirk? I'm curious about you now. I talked quite a lot about myself, but you haven't said anything about yourself."
She her smile got wider, without saying a word, she extended her smooth arm forward and called forward a spiraling wave of energy that took on a corkscrew pattern.
"I'm glad you asked, my Quirk is called Wave Motion! I can create beams of energy that go in a spiral pattern. It's not very fast, but it's very strong! Wanna see?"
Without waiting for me to respond like always, she lifted her hand towards a large boulder and-
"-Nejire Blaster!"
Well, that's a bit of a self-centered name, isn't it? I don't name my attacks Hakari Strike-
-BOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!
But those words immediately died in my mouth as she let out a wave of truck sized spiraling yellow energy that tore apart the rock like a giant excavator bulldozing through it.
"Pretty cool right? Do you have any abilities like it? Can you shoot beams? Or create explosions? Do you do yellow ones? Or since my hair is blue and I do yellow ones, do you do blue ones?"
I looked between the eviscerated boulder and the excited older girl before me with very conflicted feelings. I feel like if she had been in my place, she'd have demolished Shigaraki like taking out the trash.
"That was... something."
She looked amused by my reaction and put a hand on her chest in a boastful manner.
"Well, I am one of the best students in the school after all! So, Lion-kun, what do you think?"
I think that is insane.
"That was pretty damn cool. As for beams... I can think of a way. They'll be red though."
She tilted her head with a curious look.
"You can? Can you show me? Pretty please?"
"Well, if a pretty girl insists, I can't refuse."
She stared at me with her smile unwavering. Only the slightest hints of red dying her cheeks.
"Ooh, you make it sound like you are really confident in it."
...Really? No reaction at all to my flirting? Did it just bounce off her? Damn, my ego has never been bruised like this before.
Wearing a slight pout I decided to focus on my demonstration. Now I wanted to prove myself. I may not be able to do anything close to what she did, but with her looking so eager, I needed to pull out a real showstopper.
So I pulled on Hemokinesis and Lesser Cure at the same time, my wrist cut itself open and spurted liters of blood while Nejire tapped her chin.
"Blood Manipulation? Is it like Vlad Sensei?"
I smirked.
"It's even better, just watch."
The blood from my wounds came together, forming a beach ball-sized ball, but it was too big and too loose. So I condensed it, and condensed it, and condensed it. Compressing it was hard; it was like physically trying to keep it together.
I hadn't practiced Piercing Blood all that much before, it was a complex technique that required much more compressing than Supernova. It required a full Convergence.
But a pretty girl was watching me, failure was not accepted at this moment.
In a few seconds, the blood was condensed to the size of a marble, and when it was, I clapped my hands around it and fired it.
"Piercing Blood!"
Fshhhh!!!
The sound that came out sounded less like liquid, and more like metal screeching or a laser beam being fired, the solid beam of thin red piercing into the large stone like a hot knife through butter before I pulled it up, cutting it in half fully, and a portion of the stone hill behind it too.
"Uooh... that's pretty strong! I almost couldn't see it, it's like a laser beam... made of blood."
I let out a deep, weary breath. That took a lot of out of me. Piercing Blood was not for the faint of heart. I was no Choso, or that one Kamo clan guy just yet.
"What can I say? I aim to impress."
She smiled and leaned towards me, looking at the rapidly healing cut on my wrist as I focused on restoring the blood to my body. If I did not have Minor Cure, that move would have rendered me anemic.
"That was pretty impressive, Lion-kun, you must be aiming for the top of the Sports Festival then? It'll be pretty tough, won't it? I heard this year's freshmen were pretty fearsome."
I did not know what she was trying to get at, but I still raised an eyebrow at her.
"That I am, I already told you about how my Quirk works. Besides, aiming for the top sounds like fun."
She hummed while inspecting my hair, grabbing it, and inspecting its silky texture with an interested expression. She seemed to like touching people a lot.
"Mhmm, you might just win it. But who knows~? Are you that confident? I heard Endeavor's kid was also participating."
A smirk found its way to my lips. I was not going to end this day without successfully flirting at least once. My reputation as a womanizer was on the line. I was not sure it was a good title to have, but it was one of the things that defined me, and I couldn't easily let go of that.
"Are you, Nejire-senpai? How about a bet, if I win first place... You go on a date with me, if I lose, I treat you to lunch for the rest of the year, out of pocket."
I gave my most charming smile and Nejire actually blushed for a second before placing a finger on her lips and tilting her head.
"Mmmm... okay! Sure."
"...That easily?"
She tilted her head again and smiled at me as if I had said something funny.
"Why not? You seem like a pretty good guy, Lion-kun, and you are pretty handsome. And I really want to see what you can do. I wouldn't mind going on a date with you, but you have to work for it~. So, ganbare, Lion-kun! I'd love to stay and watch you use your abilities some more, but I have to prepare for the Sports Festival too, so, see you later!"
With that, she hopped away while I sat there, dumbfounded.
That was.... a success, I guess?
Regardless, one way or another, I was getting that date. You better believe it!
The results of this Sports Festival were written in the stars the moment that bet got made.
A/N: Hakari is innovating with Hemokinesis, it is honestly an incredible ability with insane synergies. Even though I think it's pretty good already as it is. I think of a new avenue that surprises me. With enough time and training, Hakari may just evolve Bikaku into RC Cell Manipulation.
Nejire is the natural predator for Hakari, an airheaded girl who gives no damns about what is supposed to be; Nejire does what Nejire does. She is really fun to write with Hakari, though even she is not immune to Lion-kun's charms. What did you guys think about their interactions? I'd love to know. Also, the Sports Festival is around the corner, literally.
