The day after Filch and Mrs. Norris were attacked, because the incident happened during curfew and Victor had erased the bloody words on the wall, the Basilisk's first strike did not cause panic at Hogwarts. The school was as peaceful and serene as usual. However, this tranquility did not last long.
At noon, as the young wizards were eating lunch, a dull thud suddenly came from an unknown source, and all the students in the Great Hall felt the ground shake.
BANG!!!
Professor McGonagall, who was chatting with a colleague at the entrance of the Great Hall, heard the sound and immediately looked around nervously, observing her surroundings with alarm.
The students looked at each other, not reacting for a moment to what had just happened. A short while later, another loud bang, identical to the first, was heard, but this time it was louder, and the ground shook more violently.
BANG!!!
"Everyone, leave immediately! Run outside the castle!" Professor McGonagall realized that the sound was coming from a source closer to the Great Hall. She also recalled the strange house-elf who had stopped Harry from returning to school earlier, so she immediately ordered the students to evacuate.
As soon as Professor McGonagall finished speaking, the prefects of each house immediately began to lead their students out of the school. However, just as everyone was walking out of the Great Hall and about to pass through the corridor, a huge explosion brought everyone to a standstill.
BANG!!!
Not far away, an unknown force from within had completely blown open the corridor wall, sending bricks and stones flying and filling the air with dust. At the same time, a giant snake, nearly thirty meters long, flew out of the wall, accompanied by a pained roar.
"Oh, my heavens! What is that thing?!" Professor McGonagall immediately aimed her wand at the giant snake and shouted, "Everyone get back! Don't look back, and notify the other professors!" With that, she quickly stepped forward, ready to face the enemy.
Just then, a familiar voice interrupted her.
"Running?! Keep running! Let's see where you can run now!" A person's voice suddenly came from the large hole where the giant snake had flown out. Professor McGonagall knew immediately who the voice belonged to.
"Mr. Dreyar?!"
"Sorry, Professor McGonagall! I didn't expect this Basilisk to be so fast!" Victor slowly walked out of the dust cloud. "I apologize for interrupting everyone's lunch."
That's right, the Basilisk was blasted out of the pipes by Victor.
The story began just over an hour ago.
To solve the Basilisk problem, Victor had asked Hermione for the location of the ghost Myrtle, then quickly made his way to the second-floor girls' lavatory at Hogwarts. Using his memory, he looked at the tap decorated with a snake pattern and, without a word, used magic to blast off more than half of the hexagonal basin.
He waved his hand to clear the flying dust, revealing a dark hole. Victor jumped down without hesitation, and as he did so, he used magic to repair the damaged basin, just in case the Basilisk tried to escape through the entrance.
After reaching the bottom of the hole, the surrounding environment was very dark and damp. A foul, ammonia-like, fishy smell filled the air, and the crisp crunching sound under his feet was jarring in this eerie environment.
"Ugh! It stinks!" Victor held his nose in disgust and quickly used magic to block his sense of smell, then began to cast a lighting spell.
"Lumos Maxima!"
A few light orbs floated out of the magic circle in his hand, illuminating the dark surroundings. Victor looked down at his feet and saw that they were covered in the bones of fish and mice. The crunching sound he heard earlier was the sound of these bones being crushed.
"Is the Basilisk's digestive system that strange? It eats something and then excretes a bunch of intact bones?!" After complaining a bit, he looked up to survey his surroundings. Below the basin entrance was a junction of many pipes. There were eight pipes in different directions, all leading to unknown places. For a moment, he had no idea which one led to the Chamber of Secrets. So, Victor immediately combined his "Eagle Eye" and "X-Ray Vision" eye magic and quickly found the location of the Chamber of Secrets. He just had to go through the pipe on the right and then walk through an underground cavern.
There was no time to lose. Victor didn't want to stay in such a dark and damp place for long, so he immediately took flight and quickly flew through the pipe on the right toward the Chamber of Secrets. However, he had just flown into the cavern when a large snake skin on the ground stopped him in his tracks.
"Whoa! That's a big snakeskin!" A gigantic Basilisk shed skin was lying on the uneven ground of the cavern, and its scales shimmered with colorful light under the light of the magic orbs. So, adhering to his principle of leaving no stone unturned, Victor quickly packed up the huge snakeskin and put it into his pocket dimension.
Basilisks are already rare creatures, let alone a shed skin this big. Even if he didn't sell it, it would be more than enough to make a set of armor for every member of the guild. After all, a Basilisk, a 5X-class magical creature, has very high magic resistance!
After collecting the snakeskin, Victor continued onward and quickly arrived at the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. In front of him was a large circular door, similar to an underground bank vault, with seven snakes biting the edges to lock it. The edges also had some unknown runes, and the whole thing gave off a feeling of heavy metal.
The door could only be opened if someone said "open" in Parseltongue. But Victor didn't know Parseltongue, so he had to use the old method: force his way in. Thinking of this, a green magic circle flashed in the cavern. Victor's right hand suddenly turned into a heavy spinning chain saw, and without a word, he swung his arm.
"Iron Dragon's Sword!"
BANG!!!
Skreeeenk!!!
In an instant, the entire cavern was filled with the sound of a huge metal collision and the screeching of metal grinding against each other.
"What the hell?! It didn't work?!" Victor looked in a daze at the sparks flying from the Iron Dragon's Sword in his hand.
The door to the Chamber of Secrets had not moved at all from the attack. He curiously retracted his magic and then knocked on the door. Victor discovered that the metal on the door of the Chamber of Secrets was not just simple iron or copper; it was likely mixed with alchemy.
He guessed that Salazar Slytherin, worried that someone might accidentally stumble in and try to force their way in like he had, had used alchemy to create this indestructible door.
But that didn't stump Victor. Even if Salazar Slytherin used alchemy to create the door, he couldn't have reinforced the stone wall next to it with alchemy as well, could he?!
So, a white magic circle lit up, and the advanced destruction magic "Crush" was activated.
"Decompose!"
The wall of the cavern next to the Chamber of Secrets door instantly decomposed into fine powder, revealing an entrance more than two meters high.
Victor walked into the Chamber of Secrets. The first thing that came into view was a long, flat stone path with seven huge snake head statues on either side, baring their poisonous fangs and flicking their tongues, which looked very intimidating.
Following the stone path to the end, he saw a giant stone statue of Salazar Slytherin. Victor walked up to the statue and looked around, but found no trace of any living thing. But this was not unexpected. He had already anticipated that the Basilisk might not be in the Chamber of Secrets before he came.
So, he poured a large bucket of dead fish that he had prepared beforehand onto the ground. The strong fishy smell should attract the Basilisk. After setting up the bait, Victor sat on a snake head statue, used magic to conceal himself, and then quietly waited for the Basilisk to arrive.
Sure enough, in less than ten minutes, a rustling sound suddenly came from a nearby pipe. Victor immediately put down the chocolate in his hand and saw a giant Basilisk slowly crawling out of the darkness, flicking its tongue. But the Basilisk didn't immediately approach the bait. It stayed not far away, constantly flicking its tongue and observing, with a surprisingly high level of caution.
Victor couldn't help but squint his eyes, thinking to himself, "This Basilisk seems to be quite intelligent. Did it sense my lingering scent?"
The tongues of snake-like creatures can collect scent particles from the surrounding environment. He guessed that the Basilisk had detected the scent on him, which was different from the smell of the Chamber of Secrets.
However, even though he had discovered that the Basilisk might have noticed his presence, Victor still didn't make any rash moves. Because he knew very well that looking into the eyes of a Basilisk would result in instant death, and he didn't know if he could withstand that ability.
So, to be safe, he had added a strong sleeping potion to the bait from the start. In Snape's words, a single bottle of this stuff would knock out a dragon, let alone a Basilisk, for more than half a day.
As time slowly passed, the Basilisk seemed to finally be unable to resist the temptation of the food and began to slowly approach the bait. However, just as the Basilisk's tongue was about to touch the fish, it suddenly raised its head sharply, as if it had sensed something, and immediately turned around and began to quickly crawl back into the pipe.
"What the hell! Who gave it the order?!" Victor saw his nearly cooked duck flying away and immediately swore. He immediately raised his hand and fired two spells at the Basilisk's eyes before it could completely escape, blinding it.
The Basilisk immediately let out a mournful cry and then burrowed into the pipe. The Basilisk's sudden movement must have been because it received an order in Parseltongue, but Victor didn't sense anyone's presence nearby. But he couldn't worry about that now.
Seeing the Basilisk trying to escape, he immediately gave chase. To be honest, even though the Basilisk was so big, its speed was not slow at all.
The Hogwarts plumbing system was built in the 18th century, and it might be because the planning wasn't very good at the time. The pipes crisscrossed and spread out in all directions, making it the perfect home for a soft-bodied creature like a Basilisk.
