Chapter 58 - The Real Objective

Cho Chang smoothed down her scattered hair, glaring hatefully at the little snake on the wall before she began to explain the entire story of the conflict.

It turned out that during dinner tonight, a group of older Slytherin students had gathered in front of the Great Hall door, looking menacing and plotting something. A Ravenclaw student happened to be passing by and overheard the little snakes whispering about what spells to use against Victor Dreyar. This little eagle instantly realized that something was not right, so she quickly rushed into the Great Hall and told another older eagle what she had just heard.

The older eagle was immediately furious and stormed out of the Great Hall, ignoring the school rules. She used her not-yet-proficient flying magic to fly directly to the Ravenclaw common room and told the others that the Slytherins were planning to ambush Victor.

Naturally, the little eagles were all furious when they heard this. They all felt that the Slytherins were looking down on them, so a group of them immediately left the common room and charged toward the Great Hall, ready to confront the Slytherins.

But, as luck would have it, because Victor had been so engrossed in his reading in the library, he didn't show up for dinner at the Great Hall on time as usual. The little snakes who were ambushing him in front of the Great Hall door didn't see their target and decided to go to the area around the Ravenclaw common room to set up another ambush for Victor.

The end result was that the two groups unexpectedly ran into each other on the third-floor staircase. They only had to look at each other to know that the other party was looking for them. Without another word, they started fighting, which led to the scuffle just now.

"..."

After listening to Cho Chang's explanation of the entire story, Victor was speechless. He quickly waved his hand to summon a little snake to his side and used Legilimency to read his memory.

"So that's it, the pure-blood old noble families!" Victor smiled and pinned the little snake back to the wall. It seemed that the comic book had begun to take effect, and the representatives of the revolutionary target were starting to emerge.

From the little snake's memory, Victor learned that not only the Malfoys but also other pure-blood families had noticed the existence of the comic book.

Because of the Christmas holiday, the comic book Victor had created had already become somewhat widespread outside of school, and those who knew the history or were part of extremist pure-blood families had learned about the content of the comic.

As a result, whether out of fear of Voldemort or to protect the honor of the Slytherin pure-bloods, these pure-blood families had begun to instruct their family members at Hogwarts to make Victor pay for what he had done.

The reason they waited until today to make a move was that a considerable number of these pure-blood families were quite cowardly. The content of the comic was simply too shocking for them, and they felt that they had to first find out how Victor knew these secrets about Voldemort. Otherwise, no matter what the outcome, they would have to face Dumbledore for instructing their family members to attack a student at Hogwarts.

So, it wasn't until a few days ago that after numerous investigations turned up nothing, these pure-blood families suddenly came to a very "correct" conclusion: that Victor Dreyar was just a Mudblood and that he might have only stumbled upon the history of the Dark Lord by chance.

Therefore, yesterday, over a dozen older Slytherin students received letters from their families via owl. Seeing that it was for the honor of their families and pure blood, these little snakes, as if filled with a newfound courage, did the stupid thing of trying to ambush Victor.

After resolving this conflict between the eagles and the snakes, Victor was originally going to let it go. He was just going to let the little snakes he had pinned to the wall be picked up by their parents! That's right, their parents! Even the professors wouldn't be able to undo the spell.

But just as Victor was about to leave, Fawkes appeared beside him at the perfect moment. With a flash of fire, he was instantly taken to the headmaster's office at Hogwarts.

"Ouch!!!" Victor landed on his backside, then looked up to see Dumbledore standing not far away, watching him. He immediately began to complain, "Professor, next time you want to see me, you can just have your portrait tell me. There's no need to send Fawkes."

"My apologies, but it seems this thing of yours has brought quite a bit of trouble to the school," Dumbledore said, pointing a finger at the comic book on the desk.

"To be honest, I didn't expect these people to come looking for me so late, and their methods are much more childish than I had imagined," Victor said, getting up and dusting off his backside. "Did you bring me here for this?"

"Not entirely," Dumbledore said. "When the incident on the third-floor corridor was happening, I had a guest here."

"A guest?!" Victor raised an eyebrow. "Judging by your tone, it seems you don't like this so-called guest very much!"

"Lucius Malfoy, Draco's father. He came here to represent the Board of Governors and asked me to expel you from Hogwarts," Dumbledore explained, then his expression became serious. "I brought you here because I want to tell you that they have already begun to make their move. Are you ready?"

"Professor, there's no such thing as being ready or not," Victor said with a smile, then walked over to Dumbledore's candy cabinet. "I have a basic understanding of them, the Sacred Twenty-Eight, that is. They are all powerful and wealthy pure-blood families, and their bloodlines are spread all over the world."

"But so what? This so-called power and wealth are all in the past! In the long years, how long can they hold on to their pure-blood honor to maintain their declining status or power? How many of these twenty-eight families have already died out? Didn't they follow Voldemort because they couldn't keep yelling the slogan of pure-blood honor anymore?"

Dumbledore was speechless for a moment.

Indeed, the so-called pure-blood honor was extremely prone to the problem of inbreeding.

Of the current Sacred Twenty-Eight, four families, such as the Fawley and Shafiq families, had already died out completely.

Most of the others either had their family members die during Voldemort's reign of terror or were left with only one or two descendants after the Ministry of Magic's purge, with their ancestors' wealth and power long gone.

Even on the Hogwarts Board of Governors, the influence of the Sacred Twenty-Eight was limited to a few families like the Malfoys who could barely maintain their family's wealth, and their power had been greatly reduced compared to before.

Of course, none of this applied to the Weasley family. They were a special case, and extremely fertile!

And Dumbledore knew about the state of the pure-blood families, as did Victor, who was determined to start a revolution.

As the saying goes: "Forewarned is forearmed."

So Victor continued:

"Professor, my target has never been these half-crippled pure-blood families or Voldemort. My goal is to remove the malignant tumor of pure-blood honor. The pure-blood families are just mud under the wheels of history."

"This is also why I've been pestering you about reforming Hogwarts. It's the only way to remove this pure-blood nonsense from the hearts of young wizards. You saw what happened on the third-floor corridor today. If Hogwarts had provided proper guidance in its daily education, these Slytherin students wouldn't have thought to go after me without a moment's hesitation."

Dumbledore was silent for a moment, finding himself unable to refute any of Victor's words. He then said, "The Malfoy family is one of the more powerful members of the Hogwarts Board of Governors. Even if I support your actions, without the financial support of the Board, your ideas will be difficult to realize."

Victor smiled upon hearing this question.

"Professor, Lucius Malfoy is a very smart man. From the fact that he only asked you to expel me, I know he is not the kind of person who believes in extreme pure-blood ideologies. In reality, he is an opportunist who has already woken up."

"My guess is that he originally wanted to use Voldemort to expand his family's power, but he didn't expect Voldemort's madness to be far beyond his control and understanding."

"I'm sure you've already told him about the Horcruxes. I believe he will actively help us find Voldemort's Horcruxes. He wants Voldemort to be completely dead more than anyone else…"

Upon hearing this, Dumbledore was once again re-evaluating Victor's wisdom.

Victor hadn't guessed wrong; Dumbledore had already told Lucius about the Horcruxes. Whether it was for the purpose of protecting or destroying them, Lucius would, out of fear, intentionally or unintentionally help in the search for Voldemort's Horcruxes.

At least one of them.

.....

On the other side, at Malfoy Manor, which was located in Wiltshire, England.

According to legend, it was land given by King William I a thousand years ago, where Armand Malfoy had built Malfoy Manor.

Malfoy Manor was a dignified lord's mansion surrounded by meticulously designed gardens, complete with fountains and free-roaming white peacocks. The exquisite wrought-iron gates made visitors feel as if they were walking through smoke when they passed. The interior of the manor was described as being "luxuriously decorated." The entrance hall was spacious, with portraits on the walls, and the stone floor was almost entirely covered by magnificent rugs. There was also expensive furniture, a marble fireplace, and gilded mirrors.

But at this moment, Lucius Malfoy had returned here with a cold sweat on his face. His wife, Narcissa Malfoy, saw her husband's pale face and was so frightened that she stood up from the sofa.

"Lucius, what's wrong with you?" Narcissa quickly walked over to help her husband sit down, then asked with concern, "Didn't you go to Hogwarts? What on earth happened?"

"Narcissa, open the basement," Lucius instructed, trying to remain calm.
