Chapter 393 - MHGA Chapter 393: Walpurgisnacht Begins

MHGA Chapter 393: Walpurgisnacht Begins

At nightfall, the disaster alerts finally forced Mitakihara City authorities to take action.

Evacuation orders swiftly reached throughout Mitakihara City, including Madoka's family, who received instructions to head toward the gymnasium shelter.

Upon hearing news of the unusual weather, Madoka visibly tensed, gripping her clothing tightly. Nevertheless, she followed her parents and younger brother to the evacuation site.

The small shelter was packed with Mitakihara citizens, the dark clouds swirling overhead underscoring the seriousness of the disaster.

If no one could stop Walpurgisnacht, the catastrophe would unquestionably destroy Mitakihara City.

It was precisely this disaster that had driven Madoka, across Homura's countless timelines, to repeatedly become a Magical Girl.

Even later, when the accumulated karma made Madoka strong enough to defeat Walpurgisnacht, the overwhelming power shattered her Soul Gem, leading to her death.

Yet Madoka's tension now stemmed from another cause.

She knew that Homura and the other members of the Hunters were preparing to battle to save everyone here.

However, standing here, Madoka felt powerless.

As a hunter, her strength was insufficient to face such calamity.

Yet, she couldn't become a Magical Girl either.

The Hunters—and Homura—had done so much precisely to avoid that fate.

Madoka thought perhaps Kairo Retsu was right; maybe she should save this kindness she'd received and pass it forward when she had enough strength to help others in need.

Yet waiting like this felt like a small flame slowly burning inside, causing continuous pain.

"Madoka, there you are!"

As Madoka stood blankly beside the stairway window, Hibiki found her, joyfully approaching: "Finally found you! You—"

But seeing Madoka's troubled expression, Hibiki softened her tone: "Are you alright?"

"I… I don't know," Madoka replied quietly. "Hibiki, have you seen Mami-senpai and the others?"

"They're all here," Hibiki replied. "Guildmaster told us to keep them here protecting the residents, although I wanted to help Guildmaster too."

"Right, Kyoko and Sayaka are also helping," Hibiki continued. "Even with Guildmaster around, the disaster warning this time is severe, so the residents are pretty distressed…"

"Since Guildmaster entrusted us to protect the citizens here, we can't just stand around doing nothing," Hibiki clenched her fist. "I'll help out now! We definitely can't let people stay down like this!"

"I'll… help too," Madoka clenched her own fists. "Hibiki, thank you. Even though this disaster isn't your world's problem, you're working so hard to help."

"Heh-heh," Hibiki laughed at Madoka's words. "Because everyone here is good!"

"After I joined the Gathering Hall, Guildmaster privately asked me a lot about our world, looking for ways to help us more effectively."

"Our world's issues are complicated, so they can't be solved in one go."

"That's why Guildmaster contacted Master Genjuro from our world about cooperation…"

While speaking, Hibiki noticed Madoka's wristband-like pink Kinship Stone: "Oh right, it's this Kinship Stone! Guildmaster provided lots of Kinship Stones and monster eggs."

"Once more people can form bonds with monsters, many of our world's problems will decrease," Hibiki optimistically said. "By the way, Madoka, what kind of monster would you want as your partner?"

Hibiki raised her fist cheerfully: "I can help you tame one!"

"I haven't thought about it yet, but…" Madoka raised her wrist, looking at her Kinship Stone. "I think no matter what monster becomes my partner, I'd happily welcome it."

"I…" Madoka looked out at the sky: "I hope it genuinely becomes my companion, and we can move forward together."

"So, when the time is right, it'll appear on its own, right?"

"Hm…" Hibiki tilted her head thoughtfully but eventually supported Madoka's idea.

However, their immediate task was assisting others.

After they left, raindrops sliding down the window above them gradually formed an ∞ symbol, watching Madoka as Hibiki led her away to help.

Once Madoka disappeared around the staircase corner, the ∞ symbol vanished.

Elsewhere, facing the storm and rain, Kairo Retsu stood firmly by the river, observing its unsettled waters.

The clouds ahead appeared pregnant with something sinister, pressing towards Mitakihara City. Judging by its aura, Kairo Retsu felt Walpurgisnacht already surpassed typical monsters, nearly rivaling certain Elder Dragons.

"The storm has come," Kairo Retsu remained composed beside the river, unmoving, when Homura abruptly appeared before him.

"Walpurgisnacht will appear here soon," rain quickly soaked Homura's hair, blowing it in the wind. "It's appearing faster than expected. I haven't gathered many weapons or equipment, so—"

"Leave the battle to us."

Kairo Retsu stared unblinkingly at the darkening sky: "We Monster Hunters were born precisely to face such threats!"

As Kairo Retsu spoke, the thunderclouds above began to distort.

In an instant, they transformed into something resembling a massive circus, with small familiars emerging and running toward them.

Kairo Retsu raised his foot, crushing one small familiar, gazing at the numerous fantastical familiars emerging from the mist. Slowly, he drew his Great Sword from behind.

"Walpurgisnacht… has begun."

"The counterattack begins!"
