MHGA Chapter 302: Frenzied Monsters Invade

"Oh my God!" Joseph cried out. "She actually noticed us?! Wait—why is she just like DIO?!"

As Joseph shouted, a strange magic circle materialized in front of Altair on the screen.

"Where did you come from? Something from nothing… but I have a general idea of your objective."

"You're here for that black dragon bearing pestilence, aren't you?" The magic circle before Altair shimmered with several markings—each symbol representing a faction.

"I see now. You're the ones pursuing it." Altair's gaze on the screen seemed to lock directly onto Kairo Retsu and the others. Even Kairo himself wasn't sure if she could actually see them.

Two of the icons were familiar: one for Altair's faction, another for Selesia and Meteora's.

The third, unmistakably, represented the Hunters.

Among the symbols tied to Altair's faction, Kairo recognized one in particular: a grotesque emblem bearing resemblance to a Frenzied Dalamadur—a snarling dragon's head wreathed in tendril-like horns.

Weapons suddenly appeared in Altair's hands: a rifle and a saber.

Her voice came calmly through the screen: "It will help me accomplish my final objective. No matter what you try, you won't succeed."

The moment she finished speaking, her ability activated—and the laptop Joseph's Stand had been using began to emit a high-pitched whine. Then, it burst into thick smoke.

"WOC! That laptop cost money!" Kairo shouted as he frantically slammed the laptop down under his Great Sword. With a heavy thud, the weapon vibrated beneath him, signaling the end of the computer's forced self-destruction.

Acrid smoke filled the cardboard hideout, and the explosion's muffled noise began drawing curious vagrants from under the bridge.

Sensing danger, the Hunters made a quick retreat, slipping away beneath Kazuma's stealth effect, abandoning their hastily built cardboard hut and leaving behind only a bit of charred debris and lingering fumes.

As they exited the bridge, the Hunters discussed the situation.

"Something's off!" Joseph, ever the sharp one, had noticed something. "Altair seemed… unusually intent on stopping us. Why is she involved with Dalamadur in the first place?"

"She's probably planning to use it somehow," Kazuma muttered. "Her ability is way too overpowered! Seriously, we're all from anime, right? Why does she get whatever power she wants, and I have to grind like hell just to unlock a skill?! If I'm a gag character, at least let me have gag-tier powers!"

"You got them," Kairo said offhandedly. "They're just split between your team. Aqua's the strongest healer, Megumin's got the most destructive attack, and Darkness has unbreakable defense. It's the classic DPS-healer-tank triad."

"Yeah, but individually they're all nuts!" Kazuma yelled, heartbroken. "They're just burdens with one useful stat each!!"

Kairo shrugged. "That's just how it is."

"What about the Frenzy Virus?" Laios asked seriously. "Is this really the extent of its influence? What do we do next—find another spot to upload stories, or try to make contact with Altair or Meteora?"

"We should make our presence known in this world," Kairo nodded. "Let them get a sense of who we are. But more importantly… don't forget our main priority—upgrading our gear."

His tone turned serious.

"We need to start hunting monsters if we want proper High Rank equipment. That hasn't changed."

"So… back to our world for a hunt?" Laios perked up, visibly excited.

Every time he returned to his own world, Kabru and Marcille would drag him back into royal duties. But when he was with the Assembly, he had an excuse to slack off and study monsters.

He had volunteered to handle ecology reports for Dalamadur—because he had become deeply fascinated with its ecosystem.

"Alright, let's head back to the Gathering Hub and see if there are any monsters nearby to capture," Kairo said, scratching his head.

"If there's one disrupting the local ecosystem, we'll take it down. But those are rare."

He counted on his fingers. "Unless it's something infected by Frenzy Virus, parasitized by the Parasitus, or something that causes massive ecological damage like a Deviljho…"

Kairo sighed.

"We are Hunters, after all. If we hunted recklessly, Granny Felyne would tan our hides."

"Capture! Capturing them means I can finally feel what their scales and fur are like!" Laios's breathing grew ragged with excitement. "I still haven't tried Wyvern Riding with a Wirebug… Fighting with monsters sounds amazing! I have to try it!"

"Oh!" Kairo raised a finger. "Speaking of riding monsters—there's actually a method separate from what Hunters use. It lets you form bonds and fight alongside monsters."

"It requires something called a Kinship Stone. And the bonded monsters are known as Monsties! Everyone knows real Pocket Monster bonds come from us Hunters!"

Kairo laughed proudly, explaining the world of Monster Hunter Stories.

"WHY IS POKéMON HERE TOO?! Don't tell me your world has that too!" Kazuma shouted in disbelief.

"Kinship Stones…" Laios's eyes gleamed with hope. "I have to get one! What kind of monster would be best as a partner…"

While Laios daydreamed excitedly, the Assembly Quest Board suddenly lit up with a new prompt—catching all four of them off guard.

The quest read—

"Frenzied Monsters Have Entered This World?"

Kairo's eyes widened… then sparkled with joy.

"Yes, yes, YES!! We've got a lead on new gear!!"

"Fire up the cooking pot! Let's eat our Felyne Meal and get ready to hunt!!"

"This is what I call timing—like a pillow falling when you're sleepy! My Great Sword's thirsting for action!!"
