~Annalyn POV~
The car moved fast along the empty road and the headlights shine through the night, bouncing on the wet asphalt. Ezra's hand gripped the steering wheel tightly, his jaw hard. Beside him, Camila sat in silence, her phone buzzing again and again on her lap.
She looked at the screen and the name Armand flashed, Camila frowned and click reject, and slipped the phone into her pocket.
Ezra's eyes shifted briefly to her, his voice was calm, "Why don't you pick up your call?"
Camila let out a small laugh, though her fingers tightened around her phone. "Because the person calling is not important."
Ezra nodded slightly his gaze returned to the road and for a while, only the hum of the engine filled the air, then his words fell, heavy and direct.
"Why did you do that?"
Camila blinked as she turned to him, confusion in her eyes. "Do what?"
Ezra's face was unreadable, his knuckles whitened against the steering wheel and his voice dropped low, like a growl.
