==============

This feels like dĂŠjĂ  vu.

"Senpai."

The person sitting in front of me said, with a seemingly displeased expression.

"We got married, didn't we?"

"Well, legally, there's no doubt about it."

I said heavily after sipping the miso soup Iroha made for me. Considering the situation, it was a scenario where my wish of "I want to drink your miso soup every day" came true, but unfortunately, I didn't propose in such a clichĂŠ way.

"Don't you think it's too much like always?"

"Well, yeah..."

Iroha and I started living together back in college. Since we've been living together for many years now, the blissful and shy newlywed life is virtually nonexistent.

"You said something similar before we got married, didn't you?"

"Of course I'd say that!"

Iroha's ring finger sparkled with a wedding ring. The change wasn't just limited to such accessories.

"Oh, I guess you'll feel it when they call you 'Hikigaya-san' at work, right? That you're married."

"Well, that's true... but changing your last name is incredibly tedious with all the paperwork."

Iroha made a dejected face, counting off the complicated procedures with banks and credit cards. It looked incredibly difficult from my perspective, so it was understandable she felt that way.

"...So, Senpai, I want you to do something that will make you truly feel married."

"Hoo..."

I replied indifferently, watching Iroha proudly puff out her chest. But if she was saying that, there was something that had been bothering me.

"Isn't it also because you're still calling me 'Senpai'?"

"Even if you say that, Senpai is Senpai."

Hmm, Iroha frowned again and folded her arms, deep in thought. She probably had some thoughts about it herself.

"But well, you're right... Maybe we should try changing how I call you."

"Alright."

So, what would she call me? As I waited in anticipation, Iroha suddenly leaned her mouth close to my ear. And then—

"Darling! I love you."

"—!"

That unfamiliar sensation left me speechless. Ah, this was bad. I seriously wanted to attack her.

"...Never mind, 'Senpai' is fine."

"Is that so, is that so?"

Iroha said, smiling with satisfaction. No, that was a foul...

"And then, let's see, maybe we should get a 'yes-no' pillow?"

"Ah..."

It's a rather old-fashioned idea, but it's a classic item. I don't know if anyone actually uses it, though.

"By the way, what if it's 'yes' every day?"

"...I guess I'd just have to do my best."

When I answered, Iroha put her hand on her chin and started to ponder.

"...Let's just stop there."

What was with that pause...? Well, whatever.

"Oh, I guess a ittekimasu kiss would feel more like it, wouldn't it?"

Iroha said with a slight blush, and I couldn't react immediately. It wasn't just because I always left earlier than Iroha woke up due to my demanding job.

"...Isn't that already fine?"

"Huh? What do you mean by that? You're not saying you're already tired of it, are you?"

Iroha looked at me with an accusatory gaze, but of course, that wasn't it. It was actually the opposite, which made it hard to say.

"No, that's not it... I meant, it's something we do every day, so it's fine, right...?"

"Every day..."

Iroha covered her lips with one hand, then slowly raised it to cover her entire mouth. Her cheeks seemed a little red.

"W-well, I knew that! Senpai, aren't you too fond of me?"

"...If I wasn't, I wouldn't have married you."

When I mumbled that, Iroha, still covering her mouth, couldn't hide the smile in her eyes. It seemed she was still happy to hear that, even after marriage.

"Besides, I've been making all the suggestions so far! You need to think of something too, Senpai."

Iroha cleared her throat and said, as if resetting the conversation. But it was still the same situation as before – easier said than done.

"How about going on 'Shinkon-san Irasshai' (a Japanese newlywed game show)?"

"No to anything that relies on luck!"

Iroha made an 'X' with her fingers and shook her head vigorously. It seemed she saw right through my attempt to escape with an unrealistic suggestion.

"Then... matching outfits?"

"That's a no, I'd be too embarrassed."

I felt relieved by Iroha's answer, even though I was the one who suggested it. I'd be in a lot of trouble if she said yes. However, a strong sense of discomfort accompanied my relief. I felt like I was forgetting something important.

"Ah!"

When I realized what it was, I unintentionally let out a sound. I slowly stood up and headed towards the storage closet.

"What are you looking for?"

"...Found it."

I found what I was looking for deep inside the closet and turned to Iroha with two cases in my hands.

"What are those?... Oh."

Iroha's mouth hung open, frozen, as if something came to mind.

What I was holding were glasses cases. I opened a case and took out a pair of black-rimmed Wellington glasses. I put one pair on myself, and Iroha looked at me with an admiring gaze. They were just fake glasses, though.

"Do you remember now?"

I bought these glasses a long time ago, before I even started dating Iroha. Recently, their existence had been pushed to the back of my mind, but it was Iroha who had wanted matching items.

"You might be embarrassed by matching outfits, but these should be fine, right?"

I said, opening the other case, and put the fake glasses on Iroha. Iroha, who still looked good in anything, wearing glasses after so long, was quite captivating.

I didn't know if this would make us feel more married. In fact, it might only create a completely different effect, reminding us of the beginning of our relationship. However, judging by Iroha's expression, it didn't seem to be the wrong answer.

"Then, do you remember that promise too?"

"...Yes."

When I nodded, Iroha took a step closer to me. And when we were close enough for our noses to touch, she smiled an intoxicating smile and said,

"You can only wear these glasses when we're alone, okay?"

Before our lips met, our glasses clinked softly. After a quiet laugh, our intertwined lips felt hotter than usual.
