Chapter 4 - 3

Years later..

Xu Ning, a Blood Demon hound is unaffected by time as he is an unaging demon mutant.

He, who used to struggle with hunger now found a way to relieve it by absorbing spiritual energy, and absorbing spiritual energy also results in him becoming more stronger.

His beauty keeps increasing due to the time he has been absorbing spiritual energy

around the temple.

Some visitors who come to the temple gets mesmerized at how beautiful he is,someone even almost bought him.

Though he doesn't really care much as he is bored. All he does is eat, sleep, repeat.

He does sometimes talk to the Taoist monk about their religion and his questions on Buddha. But he quickly gets tired from listening to the Taoist monk's preachings.

He also sometimes see the Taoist monk worried about him absorbing spiritual energy and growing stronger.

But he assures the Taoist monk he won't use the spiritual energy to hurt anyone, besides he doesn't even have a technique to condense the spiritual energy into spiritual arts since most of his Xu heir days only consist of political and literary activities.

While talking about his old Xu heir days, the monk proposes he teach the children in the village due to the current teacher being arrested for embezzling school funds.

Xu Ning wants to accept but is hesitant due to the previous conflict with the villagers and Ah Yen.

The monk sees his concern.

" Do not worry, the villagers will accept you as long as you show the side they never knew of you"

Encouraged by monk, he accepts.

The monk then register in Xu Ning (Gou) as a teacher at the only school in the village.

At first the villagers were very outraged but the monk then brought Ah Yen's mother to tell how great the teachings from Xu Ning were for her son.

At first Ah Yen's mother felt irritated but agreed to tell since she felt bad for not trusting her son and blamed someone who did good for her son.

The villagers felt somewhat convinced and died down their outrage and agreed to accept Xu Ning if only he could teach well.

The monk was satisfied with the reaction and went to clean up Xu Ning for the job.

At the temple, Xu Ning then gets tortured into a very harsh but helpful bath, all the year long dirt that stayed on him were washed away and his pale skin glowed more than ever, his dirty dark ashen brown hair is now the golden brown hair that most people know only the Xu heir owns.

He then dried off and wore a simple light yellow robe, with accents of vibrant yellow on the robe.

Even though it was a simple designer robe most of the monks at the temple wore, it looked like an expensive robe worn only by nobles when worn by Xu Ning.

Even the monks at the temple didn't realise it was the dirty Brother Gou they knew.

Then Xu Ning and the Taoist monk went off to the school for an introductory period with the children.

Xu Ning felt happy as he assumes that Ah Yen would still be at the school, perhaps already teaching as a teacher or just helping sometimes.

He hopes to see him once again as a way to continue their communication and get an answer to why he doesn't want to be with him anymore.

As he walks in the courtyard, he sees an elderly man, the elderly man is joyful at the sight of him.

" Ah! Sir pleased to meet you, I am the principle of this school, you can call me Mr. Fan. " he says hoarsely.

Mr. Fan then raises his hand to shake hands with Xu Ning, to which Xu Ning accepts.

They then look around the school, the school is small but still everyone was grateful, Xu Ning saw the grassy courtyard and a small play area for the children.

He then hears the bustling sound of children's laughter and chatter inside the small class. He smiles at the joyfulness of their liveliness.

They then went inside the class while the Taoist monk waited outside.

The chattering and liveliness of the class quieted down as soon as Mr. Fan and Xu Ning went in.

The class leader then told everyone to greet him and Mr. Fan.

"Greet to Mr. Fan and the teacher! "

"Good Morning Mr. Fan and teacher! "

The students then obediently sat down and quieted.

Mr. Fan then wrote on the board while Xu Ning prepared the materials.

Mr. Fan then wrote Xu Ning's name (Gou) on the board and introduced him.

"Alright everyone, what I wrote on the board is someone's name, can anyone guess who? "

A student then raised their hand.

"Is it the Mister we are seeing?"

"Correct, good job! "

Mr. Fan then signed for Xu Ning to introduce himself.

"Good morning kids! I will be you new teacher, my name is Gou, although my actual old name is Xu Ning. You can call me Gou or Mr. Gou! "

Everyone then claps including the Taoist monk outside watching through the window.

"Does anyone have a question about me? "

A student then raised their hand.

"Mr.Gou, why are you called Gou even though your actual name is Xu Ning? "

Xu Ning felt pretty akward on how to answer the question.

"Well, I guess the villagers don't really like my name so they gave me a nickname. "

"Why do they not like your name? "

"Because.. "

At that moment Xu Ning's mind couldn't think of an answer. Luckily Mr. Fan prevented and answered.

"It's perhaps because it is too hard to pronounce so they dislike it. "

Xu Ning feels pretty confused at the illogical answer since his name is pretty easy to pronounce but let's it be seeing the kid put down their hand.

He then continues by teaching the kids the material he prepared last minute.

Then he handed sheets of paper with questions for the kids to answer.

Once that was done he graded them and gave it to the kids.

"How was my teaching everyone? "

The kids looked like they were ready to answer positively.

"Your teaching was very easy to understand!"

"Your examples helped a lot! "

"Thanks to your teaching I now understand a lot! "

Mr. Fan then took a look at the children's results in their sheets, Mr. Dan's jaw dropped seeing everyone's sheets all above 62, the usual average he would see everytime the previous teacher handed them. Most of them were all above 89.

Mr. Fan quickly praised everyone and Xu Ning. He was overjoyed to see high scoring numbers.

He couldn't help but thank Xu Ning prefusely.

Then the bell rang meaning the kids could go home.

Everyone was overjoyed and packed up and left in an orderly manner and greeting the teacher.

Xu Ning felt happy over the happiness of the kids and his ability to help them become more smarter.

Then Mr. Fan gave Xu Ning his paycheck that wasn't even supposed to be given since it was supposed to be next month.

Xu Ning was shocked at the sack filled with 25 silver coins.

He was happy and thanked Mr. Fan and the Taoist monk.

Then he left with the Taoist monk and went to the temple.

On the way, he asked the Taoist monk.

"Hey brother Taoist, can I use the money to buy my own food? "

The Taoist monk smiled and nodded in approval, Xu Ning was overjoyed.

"But in one condition, you must leave with a monk guarding you, "

Xu Ning nodded and went inside the temple.

In the temple he boasted his money to the monks there, to which the monks praised him and motivated him to keep going.

He was happy, he then went inside his room cell and slept happily.

•••

This went on for weeks, Xu Ning got used to being a teacher and became very skilled at it, though one thing lingered, is Ah Yen in the village or not.

He even asked Mr. Fan, to which he denied ever seeing Ah Yen after the incident.

Xu Ning was devastated but let it be, as he thinks that one day he will meet him.
