"So it depends on luck too?!"
Hearing Han Feng's explanation, Bennett's expression dropped.
For a normal person, this would be a pretty good reward.
But he knew his own luck—
With his permanent misfortune aura, there was almost no chance of rolling a good skill.
Still, thanks to Captain Jean's earlier warning,
Bennett had already braced himself mentally.
So he wasn't too crushed.
"Your luck might be a little… problematic," Han Feng said,
"But it's still worth keeping this card.
If you ever get knocked out, there's a chance it could save you!"
"Oh! Why didn't I think of that?"
Bennett's eyes lit up.
Just like the boss said—
Sure, his bad luck was always there,
But once he lost consciousness, it disappeared.
There'd even been a time during a thunderstorm in the wild—
He passed out and didn't get struck by lightning.
Absolutely unbelievable!
In that case, he could really use this Random Skill Card successfully.
The only catch was…
The activation condition was a little awkward—he had to be unconscious first.
He'd have to go home and figure out how to trigger it.
"Thanks, Boss. Without you, I wouldn't have known how to use this card."
"No problem—glad I could help." Han Feng smiled.
"The manga here is great. I'll be back next time!"
Bennett gave him another grateful nod before leaving.
He still had important things to do—
And tomorrow, he'd head into the wild to test this out.
Not long after Bennett left, Venti finally finished reading his manga.
Even though he'd come with Jean and the others,
Bennett had finished long before him.
All Han Feng could think was—
Typical Barbatos. His loafing skills are unmatched.
"Ehe~ Boss, what's my reward?" Venti asked cheerfully,
Not a trace of shame on his face.
Han Feng was speechless for a moment, then glanced at the system.
The system message popped up:
[Customer Venti has finished reading Yu-Gi-Oh! and received reward — Duel Disk (1) and Card Pack (1)]
[Duel Disk: Insert a card to summon a monster projection]
[Card Pack: Contains 40 random cards]
"Huh… the same reward as Eula?"
Han Feng was slightly surprised—
This was the first time he'd seen two people get identical rewards.
Maybe it was due to the special nature of this manga?
That would make sense…
Still, he secretly hoped for something different next time.
Like… an actual Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
For now, he'd just have to wait and see.
Buzz—
A dazzling beam of light descended, enveloping Venti's left arm.
Moments later, the glow faded, revealing a white-and-blue Duel Disk.
"This is… a Duel Disk?!"
Venti's eyes lit up with excitement.
While reading the manga,
He'd envied the characters who didn't need to fight with swords and fists—
They could battle with cards instead.
Safe and thrilling!
And now, he had one of his own.
"This Duel Disk comes with forty cards in the slot," Han Feng explained.
"Place a monster card on the field, and you can summon it just like in the game.
No attack power, but otherwise exactly the same—and even more realistic!"
"Then let's try it out!"
Venti drew a card.
"Dark Magician?"
He knew this one—
It was the card Yugi Mutou often used, practically his signature.
Without hesitation, he slid it into the Duel Disk.
Whoosh!
A flash of light burst into Solace Book Store.
From it emerged a tall, sharp-featured man in a magician's robe, holding a staff.
"It really works—amazing, Boss!"
Venti stared at the Dark Magician in awe.
Klee, curious, blinked her big eyes.
"What's that?"
"It's a card game. If you're interested, you can come read the manga tomorrow," Barbara said with a smile.
Since Eula had shown hers off that morning, Barbara wasn't surprised.
If Klee got hooked on this game, it'd be a dream come true—
Finally, no more bombs.
"Is it fun? Then Klee will try it tomorrow!" she chirped excitedly.
"Eula got the same reward this morning. You could duel her if you want," Han Feng suggested after Venti put the card away.
After all, Yu-Gi-Oh! was meant to be played head-to-head.
"She did? Then I'll find her tomorrow!"
Remembering the grand duels from the manga, Venti felt a little thrill of anticipation.
Just then, more customers walked in.
"Boss, do you have those magical manga here?" one of them asked eagerly.
The others looked just as curious—
Clearly drawn in by the store's growing reputation.
"Sure. 100,000 Mora per person. One read per day. The books are on the shelves," Han Feng said with a faint smile.
"Perfect—we came just for this!"
"Right, and if we get a good reward, even better."
"I heard some people already have—it must be true."
They paid up and hurried to the shelves, each grabbing a manga.
Excited shouts erupted as they read.
"Business is booming, huh, Boss?" Barbara congratulated.
"Probably thanks to Venti," Han Feng replied, nodding toward him.
"Ehe~" Venti grinned.
He actually found this gig pretty fun—
Free manga, plus new material for his storytelling.
Not bad at all.
"Boss, I'll head out now. See you tomorrow!"
"Make sure you keep it up—your temp job's on the line!"
"Got it, Boss!"
After leaving the store, Venti decided to swing by the Good Hunter.
He remembered that Miss Sara had gotten the recipe for that glowing dish earlier.
Maybe he could get a taste.
"Wait a sec… am I forgetting something?"
He stopped after just two steps, frowning.
Then it hit him.
"Oh no! The Meicoomon is still in the tavern!"
