The shout came from none other than Yu Xiaogang.....the master himself, standing awkwardly with one hand on his waist.
His limp and irritated expression were enough to make nearby students take a few steps back; no one wanted to provoke him.
But Xiao Chenyu, the city lord's son, wasn't the least bit intimidated.
Six years of privilege had turned him into an arrogant brat, confident that no one in the academy could touch him.
He even dared to sneer at the man before him.
"You dare shout at me, old man? Want to die?" he barked, voice echoing through the cafeteria.
The students froze. Even Yuan Longxuan, Xiao Wu, and Wu Ling, who had just arrived, looked over in surprise.
"What does he mean by 'little brat'?" Wu Ling whispered.
Xiao Wu shrugged. "I'm not sure. But he'll regret saying it."
Yu Xiaogang's face turned purple with anger, but he didn't move.
The boy was the city lord's son....disciplining him could bring more trouble than it was worth.
As the saying went: a dragon can't crush a local snake.
Still, Tang Chuan had no such patience. "You brat, you're the one courting death!" he shouted, spirit energy bursting from beneath his feet. The Blue Silver King vines snaked out, ready to strike.
"Stop, Tang Chuan!" Yu Xiaogang's command came sharp and loud. Though burning with rage, Tang Chuan immediately obeyed, lowering his hand.
"Yes, Teacher," he replied through gritted teeth.
Around them, murmurs spread. Even Xiao Chenyu's smirk faded a little.
Yu Xiaogang's restraint kept the situation from exploding, but the lesson was clear...mocking a master could end badly.
Just then, Yuan Longxuan entered the cafeteria with Xiao Wu and Wu Ling at his side.
His calm presence changed the air instantly.
"Don't worry, Sister Wu Ling. With Brother Yuan here, no one will dare to bully us," Xiao Wu said, squeezing Wu Ling's hand.
Wu Ling nodded, her unease fading. "I understand, Sister Xiao Wu."
The moment Xiao Chenyu and his gang spotted Yuan Longxuan, their arrogance vanished.
They scurried back to their seats like frightened mice.
Even Yu Xiaogang quietly stepped aside, avoiding attention.
Tang San and Tang Chuan both bowed their heads and pretended to study the menu, unwilling to draw Yuan Longxuan's gaze.
"Are they… afraid of him?" Wu Ling whispered.
Yuan Longxuan said nothing, simply leading his group to a table and ordering food.
By the time their dishes arrived, Tang San and Tang Chuan were already devouring their portions like starved beasts.
The food....oil-fried meat, seasoned soup, and tender vegetables.....was the best they'd had in years.
After living on two bowls of thin porridge a day, it was heaven.
Tang Hao hadn't cared for their upbringing. As long as they awakened their martial spirits, his duty as a father was done.
Everything else....discipline, manners, or even decency—was left for fate and their teachers to fix.
Now, thanks to Yuan Longxuan's guidance, the two brothers could finally eat in peace.
Later that evening, the cafeteria was packed. The smell of grilled meat and vegetables filled the air. Yuan Longxuan's group sat at a large table by the window.
Xiao Wu's eyes sparkled as she looked at every dish.
"Brother Yuan! I want that carrot porridge.....and that soup, and that one too!" she said, pointing excitedly.
Beside her, Wu Ling....the calm and composed counterpart of Xiao Wu.....sat quietly, watching with a faint smile.
Though she shared Xiao Wu's appearance, her personality was far gentler and more reserved.
Yuan Longxuan chuckled. "Alright, Xiao Wu. I'll order them all.
And don't worry, Wu Ling, I'll get the most expensive dishes for you too."
He winked playfully before signaling the waiter. Soon, the table was filled with steaming plates of meat, fish, soup, and vegetables.
Meanwhile, Tang Chuan and Tang San had already started eating with terrifying enthusiasm.
Chicken bones cracked between Tang Chuan's teeth.
Oil splattered on his sleeves. Across from him, Tang San shoveled braised pork into his mouth so fast he barely chewed.
Xiao Wu and Wu Ling both froze mid-bite, horrified.
Tang Chuan's cheeks were swollen with food, his hands greasy, his collar stained with soup.
Tang San wasn't much better....his plate looked like a battlefield.
"Ugh… they eat like wild beasts," Xiao Wu whispered.
Tang Chuan realized the girls' disgust and tried to explain himself.
"W-wait, it's not what it look.... But before he could finish, a piece of spiced meat got stuck in his throat.
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
He hacked violently.....then disaster struck.
A spray of half-chewed food exploded from his mouth like a shotgun blast.
Half of it splattered across Yuan Longxuan's face, a chunk landed squarely in Wu Ling's soup, another piece hit Tang San's shoulder, and the rest decorated the table in oily streaks.
The stench of spiced meat filled the air.
Two nearby students gagged and vomited on the spot. Xiao Wu and Wu Ling recoiled, faces pale.
Yuan Longxuan sat perfectly still for a moment, then slowly picked up a napkin, wiped his face, and sighed.
"…He's quite the character," he muttered, his expression unreadable.
Tang San wiped his face and glared at Tang Chuan in disbelief.
Tang Chuan, meanwhile, looked at the girls—only to see both of them turn away in disgust. His heart sank.
The great God King Tang Chuan… had just lost all dignity in a single bite.
