The room was filled with laughter, challenge, and the subtle undertone of strategy and power.
Even as a humble server, Liu Erlong's world had intersected with gods and Douluos alike....her life, like Chen Xin's, was about to change forever.
Half an hour had passed since the drinking challenge began.
"Woof… I can't… my state is poor today… I yield! We'll continue another day!"
"Plop!"
As expected, Ning Fengzhi was the first to collapse. Only six jars of wine, and he was already face-down on the table, defeated.
Liu Erlong, who had been quietly observing from the side, had just learned from the earlier conversation that the person now mimicking a dog was none other than Ning Fengzhi....the so-called strongest prodigy of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect!
Her job was simple: serve tea and urge the dishes along.
But with Yuan Longxuan and the others focusing on their drinking contest, the table was already filled, and she had little to do except watch the show.
"Look at him! This 'prodigy' is really pathetic."
Yuan Longxuan leaned in close to Ning Fengzhi, who was passed out, and teased him relentlessly.
"Oh? So you're tough, huh?"
"I'm super tough! Put him aside, let's continue!"
Gu Rong, ever considerate, moved Ning Fengzhi to the nearby sofa, then returned to face Yuan Longxuan for the next round.
Another half hour passed.
"Plop!"
Finally, Gu Rong succumbed to the alcohol. Chen Xin, still standing, chuckled.
"Old bones, you're no better! Hahaha! Pathetic."
But the next second, Chen Xin felt his vision darken, and with a final "plop," Yuan Longxuan emerged victorious.
The three were utterly defeated, while he remained sober.
"Three weaklings… can't even handle a bit of wine," he muttered, surveying the remaining dishes.
Picking up a clean plate, he served a small portion of food onto a side table, glancing at Liu Erlong, who had been quietly giggling in the corner.
"Little one, eat something. You've been watching too long, and now you must be tired."
He thought of the importance of not wasting food....something he had adhered to in the past and still valued now.
Most of the dishes were untouched; the three drunk souls had only focused on drinking.
"Ah… this is for me?" Liu Erlong's mouth watered as the aroma reached her.
The rules here forbade taking leftover dishes from customers...even untouched food.
But Yuan Longxuan was thoughtful; she was a new server, and this small gesture cost nothing.
"Eat up. You've been sneaking glances and laughing for long enough."
She blushed, denying it. "I… I wasn't laughing!"
Yuan Longxuan merely nodded and turned his attention to the three intoxicated men.
"Tonight, Juxiang Pavilion operates until almost ten. Since your home is in the Outer District, it's unsafe for a young girl to travel back at this hour.
There's an empty room on the top floor. If you like, you can stay there tonight."
This wasn't some perverse notion. He genuinely cared about her safety.
Traveling between the Outer District and the imperial city at night could be dangerous for a girl alone.
"I'll take these three drunkards to the sixth-floor guest rooms first. When you're ready, you can go to the top floor."
Yuan Longxuan lifted Ning Fengzhi, Gu Rong, and Chen Xin effortlessly and made his way upstairs, leaving Liu Erlong standing there, frozen in surprise.
After the night's festivities, Yuan Longxuan had indulged in quite a bit of wine himself. After a refreshing bath to sober up, he lay down for a nap.
His body, unused to alcohol, was feeling the effects more than expected.
Some time later, a knock sounded at his door.
"Knock, knock, knock."
Yuan Longxuan rubbed his eyes, noting the moon high in the sky.
It was roughly half past nine, and the pavilion was nearly closed. Who could possibly disturb him at this hour?
"All right, all right," he muttered, forcing himself to rise.
Only clad in his black pajamas, he paid no mind to the exposed chest.
"Creak."
Pushing open the door, he found Liu Erlong standing there, red-haired and anxious.
"Hm? Little one… why are you knocking at my door so late?" Yuan Longxuan asked with mild exasperation. She could have simply used the key he'd left in the lock.
"I… I want to…" she stammered.
Her wide eyes took in his chiseled physique for the first time. Abs, broad shoulders—a sight that left her speechless.
"Enough staring. I'll take you there," he said.
Liu Erlong blinked, unable to hide her amazement. Never had she seen a man with such a perfect figure.
With a swift motion, Yuan Longxuan gently lifted her by the collar...like a small chicken...carrying her to the top-floor room. He tossed the key onto the bed.
"Plop."
The door closed behind him, and Yuan Longxuan yawned, returning to his nap.
The system chimed.
[Liu Erlong Affection: 55%]
Huh? That rose so fast? But then again, it made sense.
Liu Erlong had always been love-struck, patiently waiting for Yu Xiaogang for over a decade in the original timeline.
"Ah… I'm so sleepy. Back to bed." Yuan Longxuan muttered, drifting into rest.
Meanwhile, in the Martial Soul Hall's Inquisition Room…
Yu Xiaogang, bound on an iron bed by six burly guards, had endured six months of torment without yielding.
Though living each day in agony, he held onto hope that his father would rescue him.
"Clean this place. Dress the rebel appropriately; the Holy Maiden will inspect shortly."
The guards quickly tidied the room, ensuring no trace of filth remained.
Soon after, Bibi Dong arrived. She observed Yu Xiaogang, noting he had gained some weight despite the harsh treatment.
"Yu Xiaogang… survived. Care to recount the past six months?" she said, smiling, though her eyes were as venomous as a serpent's.
Devil! You're a devil, Bibi Dong! You'll pay for everything you've done!"
Her lips curved into a cold smile. "Devil? Perhaps. But you—what you've done is far worse. You tortured someone I cherished, then killed him. For that, I'll give you a fate worse than death."
A crystal recording flared to life in her hand.
"You wouldn't want the past six months broadcast to the entire continent, would you?"
His face drained of color. "No… you can't!"
But behind her, an entire mountain of crystal images glittered ominously.
