Chapter 8 - Betrayal

"I'm sorry, Hero. But it seems that we'll have to cast you away."

Xavier swallowed and stared at the boy who was sitting in front of him.

"What do you mean?" He asked, clearly confused and scared.

"You know what I mean." The boy answered. "You're not wanted here. You will be exiled from the kingdom and sent to where F-ranks have been sent."

"You're bluffing!" Xavier blurted. "You can't just do that! Who the hell do you think you are?!"

The boy grinned. "My name is Prince Adrian and this is the kingdom of Neoterr. The same kingdom that prepared for you to be summoned there. We are the ones who killed the woman who was used as a beacon to transport you. Of course, I can do what is necessary for the greater good of the world."

"What?" Xavier whispered, shock evident in his face. "That woman was real?"

"I mean that's supposed to be obvious, right?" Adrian chuckled. "And she was a sweet one too. You know, in bed. She was really punchable, too. It's a shame, really."

"You're bloody sick!" Xavier spat at him. "Just because I got a useless rank doesn't mean you can use me as shit!"

"It's been our custom since who knows. We nurture powerful warriors, not weaklings."

Xavier swallowed in fear. "At least, send me back. I didn't even want to be here in the first place."

"If I could, I would have done that," Adrian answered. "But we can't. You're stuck here. You'll have to accept your fate."

Xavier gritted his teeth. "That won't happen. I won't allow you to discard me as shit! I'm a human being, too."

Suddenly Adrian's expression changed. His eyes narrowed in annoyance. "I think I've taken this charade too long. What gives you the right to challenge me?" Then a wicked grin. "You forgot something. You didn't prostrate."

"Fuck you!" Xavier cursed. "Like hell am I doing that."

"Oh, you will." Adrian grinned, then pointed a finger. "Kneel!"

It was instant, Xavier felt himself ripped from his stance and hurled to the ground with bone-jarring force. The marble beneath him cracked. Dust exploded outward. The weight of a mountain pressed down on him, pinning him like a star crushed into collapse.

Xavier choked, gasping as he lay on his stomach, barely able to move.

"Feel it?" Adrian asked. "That's real power. What you'll never get with that pathetic summoning ability of yours."

Xavier didn't speak, just struggled and tried to move the bug without success.

"Stop resisting," Serena spoke, a small smile tugging at his lips. "The others accepted what is going to happen to you."

Xavier froze. "What?"

Serena's face contorted into mock confusion. "I didn't tell you? Oh, silly me. Your classmates agreed to you being exiled."

"They did what?" Xavier Croaked, clearly not believing his ears.

"See for yourself," Adrian spoke, pointing a finger to the side.

Xavier turned as he saw his classmates coming out of the shadows. Some with mocking faces, some couldn't meet his eyes, and some were just indifferent.

"Tell me this is a joke!" Xavier spat, panic creeping into his voice every second. "Tell me you didn't agree to these pieces of shits!"

"We had no choice," Bella spoke her eyes not meeting his. "I'm sorry, Xavier."

"You had every choice!" Xavier screamed, anger creeping into his voice. "I'm your classmate! I'm your friend, Bella! You should have refused. Everyone you!"

"Why?" That was Dennis's voice. "Why should we have helped you?"

He began to laugh. "You're useless, now! You're nothing. Back in our former world, people listened to you. But here, you've become a pawn. Discarded, thrown. Garbage that you are!"

"You fucking bastard!" Xavier snarled. "You didn't have the balls to say this back then. But now you think you're something!"

Dennis chuckled. "Easy man, calm down. Don't wear yourself out. I heard Carragis dries up somebody. Sucks for you!"

Xavier turned to Derek who was resting on the wall. "Derek, please. Talk to them. Tell them not to do this."

Derek pushed up his glasses and gave a grin. "Look, man." He spoke. "I'm grateful for everything you did for me back in school. I really am. It was sweet. "

He paused, then he grinned. "But you should know it was just an act. I was getting bullied, which was just a ploy to get your attention, and it worked. But now, you're useless to me and it stays that way."

Xavier couldn't believe this. They were betraying him. They didn't care at all. He turned his eyes searching for Brian. He saw him, looking everywhere but at him. He wouldn't? He won't be like them.

"Brian, please." He called out, actually sobbing. "I'm your best friend. You can't let them let me die!"

"I can't go with you, Xavier," Brian spoke, softly.

"I'm not asking you to follow me." Xavier pleaded. "But please speak up."

"I'm sorry," Brian spoke up, tone final. "It's for the best. I'm really sorry."

Xavier sank in shock. This was it. He was being exiled. And just because he was weak.

"Serena," Adrian called out. "Prepare the portal. I'll move him."

Serena waved her hand a bluish portal appeared right beneath Xavier.

"Any last word, weakling," Adrian called out.

Xavier was silent, his eyes still wide in shock. Dennis chuckled, staring at him. "Bro's really lost it." He spoke.

"I will say again," Adrian called out. "Any last words?"

There was silence then Xavier snapped.

"Fuck all of you!" He screamed, his face raised. Everybody flinched. They stared at his face. The cool calm Xavier was nowhere to be seen. This Xavier was different. He was madly angry.

"This is not the last of me!" He screamed. "I will have my revenge! I will ruin all of you! I will make you wish you guys didn't come out of your bitches legs! I swear on....."

In a flash, Xavier sank into the portal, vanishing during his rant. He was gone.

A tense silence remained. Nobody spoke.

"He curses too much!" Prince Adrian spoke, yawning. "I'll never agree to this request again."

"Alright," the goddess announced. "Now that this is over. It's time to have breakfast before the best trainers we have will start your training."

"Finally," Dennis yawned. "That was too long."

Everybody began to disperse. Xavier has been forgotten in their minds. Chattering filled the air. Only one person remained. It was Brian, gazing at the spot where Xavier fell.

"I'm sorry." He spoke voice breaking. "I truly am sorry, Xavier."
