Chapter 3 - The Man Who Should Be Dead

Theon walks up to the door of a bar. He waves for Jin to come to him, shooting a small smile.

"This is as far as I am willing to take you… I thank you for sparing me, but I have business to continue."

Jin looks at him, and a grim smile appears on his face as he pulls out a hundred Yen.

"Consider this as a thank you."

Theon glares at him, then looks at the Yen, a look of confusion crossing his face.

"Hey, Theon… I'll see you around… got it?"

"I'll see you around, Jin."

Jin pushes open the door, walking into the bar, the doors closing behind him.

The entire bar halts and stares at Jin. Whispers are racing everywhere.

Jin walks up to the counter and makes eye contact with the bartender.

"Water, I'll take a glass of Water."

"Y-yes s-sir, coming right up," says the bartender, racing towards the other end of the bar.

"Say, kid, are you one of them dragon spirits?" comes a groggy voice from Jin's left.

Jin doesn't move, his expression blank.

"Depends… who's asking?"

"I am Krevik Wyrmsmoke. Tell me, what's your name, kid?"

"I'm Kuroryu Jin, a curse amongst men."

"A curse amongst men? Now what could make a boy say such a thing…"

Jin turns his head facing towards him, a grim glare coming from his eyes.

"I've killed more people than you've shaken hands with."

"W-what?"

"You seem informed of what's happening in this world… So tell me, what are these demons like?"

The bartender returns, handing Jin a glass. The bar resumes regular activities.

"To be honest with you, Mr. Kuroryu, the demons aren't anything like my fellow humans say."

"So, does that mean you've seen and met some?"

"Well, yes of course, and my crew takes many trips to demon territory quite often."

"Interesting… say, would you call the demons evil?"

"I would personally say they fight for the life they want… so in better terms, they are Crusaders just the same as many humans."

"Do you know anything about why this war even started?"

"Sadly, no… but I have a few questions for you, Mr. Kuroryu."

"What could you possibly want to know about me?"

"Where are you from…You don't fit in around here… Look at your clothes, kid, I've never seen anything like them."

"I'm from Japan, Shibuya in particular… I was the king of the underground."

"You remind me of someone in our party, Mr. Kuroryu."

Krevik turns around to look at the crowd before pointing towards a cloaked person in the back.

"You see, Mr. Kuroryu, that kid said something similar… he gave us an alias for a name… he has these markings on his body of some kind."

"Hm… an alias you say?"

"Calls himself Tokyo, I'm not sure what it means or what it is."

That's the capital city, what a surprise someone would use it… "I have another question for you."

"If you wish to ask about the Dragon spirits, I probably don't have anything you wouldn't already know."

"Well, that's a bummer."

"Look, kid, if you wish to learn about them, it can't hurt to set out to the Northern Mountains and find them."

Jin takes a drink, then sets the cup on the bar.

I can go find them and learn more about what they are… But I made a promise.

This is what you wanted, right,t Mori? Blood for peace?

"Look, kid… I'm not sure why, but I can see you're determined to find an end to this war, but Tokyo has already got us working on all that…"

Jin turns his head back to Krevik.

"Mr. Kuroryu… how do you even think you can end this war? We've been working for years to do it and have come up with nothing."

"It's quite simple. I'll kill everyone in charge… If this is what Mori wanted… then I'll burn the whole world to get it."

"Mr. Kuroryu… That's crazy. Are you even listening to yourself? You're talking about killing gods, and even fighting entire armies all by yourself."

"I'm not sure why you feel the need to inform me of the obvious, but I will make sure I win, I won't lose."

"Look, kid, we got some allies up north by the elves. They have been holding peace between the Human Demon line with court negotiations."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"We haven't heard from them in a while, so why don't you go make sure they're OK?"

"The Human-Demon line, you say? Sounds like I have a destination to spread destruction."

Krevik reaches into a sack and pulls out 3 gold coins.

"Take this, and maybe just go and find those men for me. I would like to see someone like yourself alive in a few months."

"No point in trying to pay me not to go and follow through. I will be going and I will kill all the men in charge… This war you guys have fought for so long will come to a close on Mori's name."

Jin begins to stand, preparing to leave.

Krevik grabs Jin's arm, forcing him to sit. A more serious tone on Krevik's face.

"Look, kid, I don't like to tell people this, but…" Krevik looks around. "You need to calm yourself… You'll never succeed in killing someone like the king, much less the Light god."

He doesn't deserve my wrath. But I will not show weakness to this old man.

Jin throws Krevik's hand off his arm. In a flash, Jin grabs Krevik's collar, pulling him forward.

"You do NOT have a right to touch me… understood?"

Fear strikes across Krevik's face as he begins to shake slightly.

"Every coward in charge will die. This world is already a grave. I'm just digging the last hole."

"Say Jin… It's been almost two years, no," comes a whisper from behind Jin.

Jin slams Krevik to the ground, turning to see Tokyo standing behind him, his cloak masking his face.

Tokyo reaches his hands up, grabbing the hood of his cloak.

Jin's jaw clenches, his mouth giving a small twitch.

Two Years? Who does this guy think he is?

Tokyo removes his cloak, revealing who he is. His messy brown hair hangs into his face. A dragon tattoo identical to Jin's is on his neck and sleeve.

A moment of shock hits Jin. His face goes pale, mouth gaping wide open, Jin's entire body frozen in fear.

"B-but… you're meant to be dead… I killed you. Asano Keiji, you're meant to be in hell."

How can he be alive? This can't be… I killed him… I shot him during the fight between Black Dragon and White Vow?

I remember it vividly. He pulled a gun… He tried shooting me… I took the gun and shot him… I laid my shirt over him to cover his wounds… He broke my trust…
