[Author Notes: A rather large time skip but I wanted the main story to start and not keep you waiting. I would include what happened during the timeskip in flashbacks. Thankyou for your support!]
Kon stood at the edge of Skyloft, the floating island he'd called home for nineteen years.
He was taller now, lean and muscled, his metal bo-staff strapped across his back. A grin spread across his face, wide and fearless, as he looked out at the endless sky.
'This is it. The world below. I'm ready.' His heart thumped with excitement, but a small knot of nerves twisted in his gut. He pushed it down.
Sora stood in front of him, her smile bright and unshaken. No worry creased her face, only pride. She adjusted the strap of his bag, her hands steady. "You've grown strong, Kon," she said softly. "The world's waiting for you. Go make it yours."
'I have nothing to worry about. My kid has managed to learn all four main bending styles. He is a skilled fighter and a bo staff user. And who knows what he has learned by himself during the past decade. He might have learned a sub bending style already.' Sora thought
'A shame that he has not managed to get a glimpse of his conquerer's haki or Armament haki yet. Well, the world below would give him the opportunities to awaken them.'
Kon nodded, his grin softening. "I'll make you proud, Mom," he said, voice steady despite the lump in his throat.
Akio, his father, was a different story. Tears streamed down his face, his broad shoulders shaking as he pulled Kon into a crushing hug. "My little boy is leaving!" he wailed, voice muffled against Kon's shoulder. "You'll miss your dad, right? Tell me you'll miss me!"
Kon laughed, patting his father's back while returning the hug. "Yes, Dad, I'll miss you." 'Earthbenders are tough and gentle,' he thought, feeling the familiar warmth of his father's embrace. 'He's gonna cry for days.'
Akio pulled back, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand. He pointed a trembling finger at Kon. "Remember to brush your teeth every day! Every single day! And take a bath, eat your veggies, don't stuff yourself with sweets, and—oh!—don't eat any weird fruits, no matter how tasty they look!" His voice cracked as he waved his hands for emphasis.
Kon nodded, barely holding back a laugh. "Got it, Dad. No weird fruits, no sweet overload. I'll be fine."
'He's acting like I'm gonna eat a glowing berry and turn into a frog. Old man Iroh has made sure to teach me about devil fruits and why I should not eat them.' The thought made him snort, and he covered it with a cough.
Akio's gaze shifted to the small, four-armed monkey perched on the tree nearby.
Goku, Kon's companion and his only friend, had a tiny backpack slung over his shoulders, his big eyes blinking up at them.
Akio pointed dramatically. "Take care of my baby, Goku! You hear me? Keep him safe!"
Goku chittered, giving a solemn nod before launching himself onto Kon's shoulder, his four arms gripping tight. Kon stumbled slightly, then steadied himself, grinning. "Easy, buddy. I will make sure you don't fall of ... this time."
Kon glanced around as the entire population of Ryūkami—every man, woman, and child of the island—had gathered to see him off.
Faces he'd known his whole life stared back at him, some smiling, some teary, others shouting encouragement.
Kon's chest tightened. These were the people he'd grown up with—the ones he'd pranked, made laugh, or annoyed by stealing their desserts.
He was the kid who'd run through the streets, dodging angry shopkeepers.
Old Mrs. Hana, who'd chased him with a broom after he "borrowed" her fruit tarts, wiped her eyes. "You better come back, you little thief!" she called, her voice cracking.
Kon laughed, waving. "I'll bring you the best tart in the world, Mrs. Hana!"
Taro, a twenty year old man who Kon could call a friend, pushed through the crowd, grinning. "Don't forget us when you're famous, Kon! And don't lose to any one down there after kicking my ass in all those spars!"
"Ha! No one's beating me!" Kon shot back, flexing an arm.
Chief Iroh stood nearby. His eyes met Kon's, and he gave a slow nod.
Iroh's thoughts were not of sadness or doubt of whether Kon would be able to complete his dreams. He knew that there was no stopping Kon from fulfilling the prophecy and his own dreams
'He might be an Avatar but from the past records of Avatar, no one managed to learn more than three main bending forms. And even they were in their fifties when they achieved it. He had done it before he even hit puberty. The Kid would be a monster soon. Well a bigger one than he is now. I wonder how would the others react when they see him. Oden would ask him for a spar, Rayleigh would just offer him a drink. Well, Bullet would probably try to kill him since he is my student.' Iroh thought
Kon stopped at the edge of the island, the wind tugging at his clothes. Below, clouds swirled, hiding the world he was about to enter.
Goku tightened his grip, chittering softly. "Hold tight, buddy," Kon murmured, patting the monkey's head.
He turned to his parents and Iroh, his grin returning. "I'll miss you guys," he said.
Then he faced the crowd, raising his voice. "I'm gonna travel the whole world and tell you all about it! I'll bring back the tastiest desserts, find amazing friends, spar against the strongest people, meet every race. And most importantly…" He paused, his grin turning mischievous. "I'll find the One Piece!"
The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers, a few kids shouting, "Find it, Kon!" and "Bring us some!" Kon's heart swelled.
He took a deep breath, looked at his family one last time, and said, "Later, everyone!"
With that, he stepped off the edge, plummeting into the sky. Goku squealed, clinging to his shoulders as the wind roared past. Kon meanwhile laughed.
Below, the crowd gasped, some leaning forward, others holding their breath. Sora clasped her hands, her smile unwavering. Akio sobbed louder, burying his face in his hands. "My baby!" he wailed, while Sora patted his arm, chuckling.
Iroh stepped forward, raising a hand to silence the crowd. His voice carried, deep and resonant. "The Avatar has begun his journey. He will rise. He will burn through the skies and bring the dawn. The world's wait has ended. The world will finally stop weeping. The wind's whispers of his name grow stronger… The Avatar of the new era descends!"
The benders cheered, their voices echoing across Skyloft. Some wept, others clapped, but all felt the weight of the moment. Their Kon, their Avatar, was gone to meet his destiny.
