Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Talking with Priestess

"I've had a bit of a problem ever since I arrived… I can't speak Japanese very well… I get lost all the time and can't understand what everyone is saying…"

She clutched her hands together at her chest, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"It's fine, you can talk in English. I can speak it well enough."

I said that, and her expression instantly brightened like someone just opened the curtains to let the sun in.

"I think I might know where your church is," I said to the nun.

I recalled there being an old church-like building on the outskirts of town.

Maybe that was it?

But does anyone still visit that place?

I couldn't remember anyone using it for years.

"R-really?! Th-thank you! Praise the Lord!"

The young nun gave me a brilliant smile as tears flowed from her eyes.

She was cute.

Honestly, I was too free anyway, and spending some time with a sweet, innocent girl like her felt like a rare treat.

I couldn't just leave an innocent young lady alone in distress.

Leading the way, I guided the blond nun to the old church.

"I am so glad I met such a nice person like you. It must've been divine guidance," she said, smiling like a child seeing a miracle.

"Nah, I think God will probably want to help you, and I was just near you, who knew English nothing more. I am not a nice person." I replied.

Seriously, if someone like me — who fully intends to take his seat in heaven by force if necessary — was considered "nice," then God had a very skewed moral compass.

We cut through a park on our way to the chapel when we heard a child's cry.

"Waaaaah!"

It was a boy who had fallen over.

I walked toward him without thinking.

The nun, who until now had been following behind me, headed deeper into the park with me, toward the sound of the kid.

The nun and I approached the crying boy sitting flat on the ground.

"Are you okay? Boys shouldn't get so worked up over something like this, you know," she said as she patted him gently on the head.

"Yeah, kid, you gonna cry? Wait till you get to see the adult world. Real men don't cry over small stuff; otherwise, we will not last in this cruel world, so stop it."

The kid probably couldn't understand what she was saying.

But looks like my words got through to him as he suddenly stopped crying.

Still in pain but holding back tears.

Woah... This guy may have great endurance when he becomes an adult.

Although he couldn't understand what the nun said.

He could see the blond nun's face overflowing with kindness.

She placed her hand softly against the scrape on his knee.

What happened next came as a total shock.

A faint, green light erupted from the flat of her hand, enveloping the boy's injury.

Huh? Healing Magic?

As I watched, the abrasion on the boy's leg began to fade away.

Wow... A nun who is blond, completely innocent, and can use healing magic...

She is my dream priestess; the only thing she needs is to grow a more mature body and spoil me rotten.

"There we go, all better now," the nun said, patting the boy's head again.

She glanced up at me.

"Sorry for wandering off," she laughed, sticking out her tongue playfully

"Nah, it's fine, I was the one who wandered off first anyway," I replied.

"Thank you!" the boy called out in gratitude.

"He said thanks," I translated, and the nun broke out into a warm smile.

"By the way,"

I began, "That power you have, it's so cool! You got real healing magic!"

"Yes. I can heal people. It's a wonderful gift, given to me by God. Yes... a wonderful gift..."

She smiled back at me, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.

I got the feeling the nun's ability had also been the cause of some difficulty for her.

Probably best not to pry, I thought.

I'd seen enough anime to know what her backstory might look like.

Our conversation turned to silence, and we continued toward the church.

A few minutes later, the church came into view.

It had been a church at one point, but it was just as dilapidated as I remembered.

I'd never heard of anyone using the building before, but I could see lights coming from inside.

Someone was clearly in there.

"Ah, this is it! Thank goodness!"

After glancing back at her map and notes, the nun heaved a sigh of relief.

It was the right place.

That was good to hear.

"Please allow me to show my gratitude for bringing me here. Would you like to accompany me inside?" she asked with a hopeful smile.

"Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rush."

I tried to mess with her.

"Oh, that's…"

Her face was troubled.

She probably wanted to make me a cup of tea to say thanks.

"You can call me Zevion, just Zevion. Everyone just calls me Zevion as well. What's yours?"

The sister responded with a wide smile.

"Asia Argento! Please call me Asia!"

"Ok, Asia. I will take you up on the offer then. So be grateful."

"I'm so happy to have met someone as kind as you this quickly after arriving in Japan."

Well, I said jokingly, but she suddenly bowed her head in such sincere gratitude that I feel like a sinner for even saying that.

I guess I am too weak against emotional things that happen to me...

Anyway, I can't leave her alone.

Asia looked like the type of girl who wouldn't notice even if someone was committing a crime right in front of her.

And those lights from earlier were bothering me.

If this were an anime, I am pretty sure my meeting this girl wasn't a coincidence, but I must save her as trouble will soon going to start acting up.

If I am overthinking it's all fine, but I doubt that will be the case.

We start going toward the abandoned church.

Currently, it was evening.

I gestured for Giratina to be active and alert in case things go south.
