Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: First Time Meeting a Nun

Well, there goes my confidence in being "out of the world" now.

Although it's not confirmed yet, thanks to these girls, I can't think of it as anything related to my reincarnation perks anymore.

Not that it matters anyway.

Not like it matters. My goals are still simple:

1. Get Arceus.

2. Make a multiverse of beautiful onee-sans who love and adore me obsessively.

After all, even if I knew exactly where my power came from, that wouldn't change what I plan to do.

Existential crisis? Nah, I'm strong enough to ignore those.

Also, I've never even seen a Sacred Gear, so what's the big deal?

I just hope I don't end up as some lab rat for people to poke at my "weird" sacred gear.

Then again, Giratina will just… anti-matter them.

Of course, I have no idea what "anti-matter them" even means.

Sona suddenly looked at me and dropped an offer.

"Zevion, if you haven't joined Rias yet, you can join me. Probably Rias told you what I expects from her. I can give you the same."

Rias looked stunned, a bit grumpy, but she didn't bump into me and looked at me.

Well, I don't know why she is looking at me, but I replied to Sona.

"Then, President Sona, let's get into it."

Rias froze, looking a little grumpy.

But surprisingly, she didn't cut in — just stared at me.

Not sure why she's looking like that, but I gave my answer.

"Then, President Sona… let's do it."

Rias blinked in shock, looking sad for a moment, until I waved it off.

"I am just kidding. I'm not joining either of you. I'd rather stay human. Call it… human pride."

Honestly, when did I become the kind of guy who cared about making a girl cry?

Pretty sure the old me would've enjoyed it.

After I declined, Rias was back to smiling.

So obvious...

"By the way, why do you girls even need some random human? Don't you already have a bunch of servants? You said you're rulers of Kuoh — can't any noble get more?"

Sona gave Rias a "you should've told him already" look.

After that, they explained to me more about the Peerage system and rating games.

And how evil pieces can be used to recruit any talents from different races, and how devils maintain a low population, so they need these, as devils are not very fertile and have a low birth rate.

Also, having a stronger peerage is better in fighting rating games.

Well, that explains why both of them may want me.

Too bad I have nothing to do, and my plan is nothing to do, so no way I will join you girls for your troublesome workload of politics and games.

So basically, politics + fighting + paperwork = no thanks.

I am bad at almost every game, and I always barely pass P.E.

So, you girls are all on your own.

"I'm not planning to be a devil, so it's got nothing to do with me," I said.

Rias's eyes flared with determination.

"Only until I make you change your mind."

Nah, girl, I really don't see a way for me to become one...

So you are just wasting your time and energy.

After that, nothing major happened.

Rias and Sona went back to political talk about management, with Sona scolding Rias to do some work.

Kiba, the playboy-looking guy, started polishing a sword like a proper knight.

Koneko munched snacks.

Akeno refilled snacks and gave tea.

She even made me coffee without asking. Again.

Me? I went back to my novels.

Why am I even with these devils?

I am a human.

Can't I meet a human who knows the supernatural world?

Otherwise, I will feel out of place.

Later that night, I went back to my home.

Well, I didn't have anything to do, so I just made a quick dinner, ate it, and slept like always.

The next few days were just like that, nothing new, but I made some progress, now I can say I at least have a few friends with the rulers of the towns in the mix.

I certainly made a political move without knowing politics.

Anyway, today I was getting back from groceries like I do every week, randomly.

"Aieeeee!"

Huh? I heard a sudden scream, followed by a dull plopping sound as something behind me tumbled to the ground.

I looked over my shoulder and found a nun lying sprawled facedown on the ground, her arms outstretched.

It was an almost unbelievably clumsy way to fall.

"…A-are you okay?"

I asked as I approached her, holding out my hand to help her up.

"Owww. Why do I keep tripping…? Oh, I'm so sorry. Thank you!"

Judging by her youthful voice, she sounded like she was around my age.

I took her hand and helped her to her feet.

Whoosh. A sudden gust of wind sent the nun's veil spiraling through the air.

Her previously hidden blond hair fell to her shoulders.

The setting sun cast her locks in a brilliant radiance.

Only then did my gaze shift to her face.

Her wonderful, green eyes were so enchanting, they seemed to suck me right in.

... For a short while, all I could do was stare at her.

"U-uh… Is something wrong…?" she asked worriedly as she looked back at me.

"Oh. S-sorry. Er…" I couldn't bear to continue.

Wow... What's going on these days?

Are all people so attractive?

It's really bad for my heart!

Was this a heads-up from some author that this magnificent blond would play some important role in my life as an important character, or was I just deluding myself?

Then I noticed the travel bag hanging from her shoulder.

Now that I thought about it, a nun was a pretty rare sight in my town.

I don't think I'd ever met one before, not even in my previous life, included.

Anyway, first things first, I went to pick up her veil.

Fortunately, it hadn't landed too far away.

"A-are you a traveler?"

I asked nervously.

"No," the nun answered with a shake of her head.

"I've actually just been assigned to the church in this town… Do you live here? I'm so happy to meet you."

With that, she bowed her head in greeting.
