As she spoke, Sakura snapped her fingers. After a ripple in space, a cute little fox statue resembling Nine-Tails appeared beside her. Even though it was only a statue, it looked just like the real thing.
"You damn brat! Get rid of this thing!" Nine-Tails angrily pounded on the cage bars. This statue showed its innocent youth. Back then, Hagoromo Otsutsuki was still alive and they had all been innocent, pure-hearted creatures. If it hadn't been for constant deception afterward, they wouldn't have become the ferocious Tailed Beasts they are today.
"Why throw it away? It's so adorable!" Sakura said cheerfully, snapping her fingers again. Beside the young Nine-Tails statue, statues of the other eight Tailed Beasts' younger forms appeared one by one, forming a circle.
"Woah! These statues are so cute!"
Naruto jumped up to pet one statue, then rubbed against another, clearly delighted.
"Never thought those fierce Tailed Beasts could look so cute too!" Kakashi's Sharingan nearly popped right out. These adorable statues looked nothing like the Tailed Beasts—at least not the Nine-Tails version we know. Looking from the cute statue to the current Nine-Tails, Kakashi couldn't help but think that maybe Sakura was right about them growing into such an ugly creature.
"This aura is exactly the same as that bastard twelve years ago! It must be you damned Uchihas again!" The Nine-Tails roared furiously as the Mangekyō in Kakashi's left eye emitted an aura.
"Tsk tsk tsk, so bad-tempered and so ugly—you're truly a disgrace to the Nine-Tails fox clan!" Sakura made a face of disdain as she continued, "Look at people like Daji, Aili, and Tamamo-no-Mae! Now look at you! I really can't figure out where you get the courage to keep living!"
As she spoke, Sakura summoned more statues from her memories—Daji, Aili, and Tamamo-no-Mae, all nine-tailed fox spirits. Their seductive poses and outfits immediately stunned the Nine-Tails. Kakashi and Sasuke turned their heads away with reddened faces, though they occasionally stole glances from the corners of their eyes. As for Naruto, he focused only on the statues and Sakura herself, completely oblivious to these statues that even made Kakashi blush.
Chapter 105 Reunion with the Fourth and His Wife [Mid]
"Damn bastard!"
The Nine-Tails angrily cursed but felt helpless. Trapped within the seal, it couldn't escape. Originally during the first few years, it could secretly seep its chakra out, but later on, for some unknown reason, the chakra it had leaked into Naruto's body vanished entirely. When it tried to continue leaking chakra outward, a strange energy blocked its chakra flow. This energy differed from chakra itself, strongly repelling its chakra and making any further influence over Naruto impossible.
"Frustrating, isn't it? Too bad! I just love that expression you make—the one where you hate me but can't do anything about it!" Sakura shrugged helplessly, nearly causing the Nine-Tails to suffer a stroke from rage. "How does it feel these years—not even a ray of light day after day, feeling completely cut off like that?"
"Feeling great, aren't you?!"
"You did this?!" Nine-Tails growled furiously, his whiskers trembling. Before, he could still peek at the outside world through their chakra connection, but then one day—suddenly—that link vanished. It was as though he'd been locked inside a dark little room. That feeling almost made him lose his mind.
"Ha! Your chakra is stronger than what belongs to Naruto himself," explained the enemy coldly. "So you could interfere with how his chakra flows, making it hard for him to control his own chakra and even perform basic Ninjutsu. Unfortunately, my power surpasses yours. Naturally, I can purify the chakra of yours embedded within Naruto's body!"
In the original storyline, Naruto struggled greatly because of the Nine-Tails' interference—he couldn't even learn Ninjutsu properly. He needed Shadow Clones just to use the Rasengan. It wasn't until later, when he reached an understanding with the Nine-Tails, that he finally mastered chakra control well enough to use the One-Handed Wind Style: Rasengan with ease. However, this version of Naruto started training alongside Sakura from the very beginning. The energy stored within the Mind Stone was overwhelmingly stronger than the Nine-Tails' chakra, violently forcing it back into its seal. Without the Nine-Tails interfering, Naruto's talent shined through brilliantly—his ability to rapidly master various forms of Ninjutsu was outstanding. After all, he had inherited his father's tremendous natural aptitude, which naturally made him exceptional.
"Bastard! Bastard! Bastard!"
The Nine-Tails slammed against the cage bars repeatedly, snarling in rage, droplets of water flying off the ground from the sheer intensity of his voice.
"Keep cursing," Sakura said dismissively while casually cleaning her ear. "You just keep repeating the same word over and over again. Why not come up with something better?" Honestly, she'd dealt with way worse trolls in her past life—this kind of lame cursing didn't even faze her anymore.
"If you dare let me out, I'll crush you myself!" The Nine-Tails roared, fire burning in his eyes as his nine tails lashed furiously behind him. He was dying to tear them all apart.
"Sure thing! I'll open the seal right now just for you," Sakura replied nonchalantly, stepping forward.
"Sakura..." Kakashi felt a chill run down his spine. If the Nine-Tails broke free, things would quickly spiral out of control.
"Sensei, trust me—even if I released him from his cage, I'd still easily keep him under control. Besides, don't forget you have the Sharingan too! As creatures left behind by the Sage of Six Paths as pets for his descendants, they are completely dominated by the Sharingan. And also, sensei… didn't you forget about my Kekkei Genkai already?"
Sakura pointed toward Kakashi's left eye, gently reminding him that he himself possessed Wood Release abilities.
Kakashi fell silent. In his moment of panic, he had momentarily forgotten—the Mangekyō was a natural counter to tailed beasts, and the power of Wood Release could suppress them just as effectively.
"Brat... what did you just say?" Even the Nine-Tails flinched at the word 'pet' Sakura used. Thinking back to how Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju treated him—it really was like handling a pet.
"A creature so easily controlled by just a Mangekyō—do you really think you're anything more than a pet the old Sage left behind for future generations to mess around with?" Sakura chuckled lightly. In a way, the Tailed Beasts really had no choice—especially when facing someone like Madara Uchiha or Hashirama Senju. Their only option was submission; there simply was no second path.
