"You wouldn't understand," Danzo said coolly. "All I do is for the good of Konoha. Rather than letting Kagami's Sharingan rot in a grave, it's better to implant them into my body, allowing me to continue protecting Konoha with them."
Danzo showed no emotional reaction at all. In his eyes, everything he did served Konoha's best interest. He saw himself as the only one truly worthy of becoming Hokage. Both Sarutobi and The Fourth were unworthy of the title.
"Then I'm afraid I'll never understand your way of thinking… Lord Danzo." Shisui knew there was no reasoning with Danzo. The other man thought his actions were justified—but in truth, how could anyone desecrate their own comrades' bodies and still claim to protect Konoha?
"So you're really set on dying, then?" Danzo coldly snorted. Originally, out of respect for Kagami's grandson, he had planned to capture Shisui alive, implant another pair of Sharingan, and use Kotoamatsukami to control him afterward. But now, such trouble seemed unnecessary.
At his command, the Root ninjas surrounding Shisui immediately launched their attacks—dozens of ninjutsu techniques striking all at once.
The collision of techniques caused explosions, throwing up clouds of dust and flying sparks. Even Danzo felt a flicker of concern that the explosion might damage Shisui's Sharingan.

A low shout emerged from the smoke, followed by green light radiating outward. Then a gust of wind blew through, instantly dispersing the smoke. Before the Root ninja stood a massive green skeletal frame—an enormous guardian form surrounding and protecting Shisui, exerting immense psychological pressure upon both the Root members and Danzo.
Shisui gasped for breath. Normally, Susanoo required two Mangekyo Sharingan to activate this powerful dojutsu technique. Using it with just one eye like this meant forcibly draining his own life force—at great cost to his very life.

With a low roar, Shisui unleashed a violent surge of chakra and Mangekyo Sharingan power. Streams of blood flowed from his left eye socket, trickling down his chin and dripping onto the ground.
His eyes throbbed agonizingly, as if blades were tearing through them. Combined with the extreme strain of chakra overuse, his entire body felt like its meridians were being ripped apart. Yet Shisui smiled.
"Susanoo: Second Form — it's complete."
Chakra rapidly spread across the original green skeletal frame, forming muscle and skin. When Shisui stopped, his previously skeletal Susanoo had transformed into an armored warrior—though only the upper half of its body existed, lacking legs entirely.
"So this is the very same power wielded by Madara Uchiha? The Mangekyo Sharingan… finally, it's mine!"
Danzo gazed greedily at the massive Susanoo wielding a spiraling sword. As a child, most stories he heard centered around Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, sparking his early fascination with their immense power. Later, when Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha clashed at the Valley of the End, Hashirama soon died from severe injuries upon returning. While studying under Tobirama Senju, Danzo learned even more about Madara Uchiha. He had long coveted that power capable of rivaling Hashirama's equally. Now, finally, it was within reach.

Originally performed with a wakizashi (short sword), this technique was now executed through Susanoo. Countless flames coiled around the enormous spiraling blade, which then began spinning furiously. Under Shisui's control, it became like a flaming tornado crashing toward surrounding Root ninjas.
"Long-range attacks! Restrain him—he won't last much longer in his current state!"
Realizing Shisui's terrible condition, several Root ninjas immediately moved far away. Those who failed to evade in time were instantly torn apart by the firestorm.

At Shisui's mental command, Susanoo's chest armor opened. Numerous green chakra arrows shot out from within, slaughtering Danzo's men severely within moments.
The immense strain of holding Susanoo was nearly unbearable to Shisui. Seeing all the Root ninjas keeping their distance, Shisui revealed a faint smile. He immediately formed a Shadow Clone seal, and an exact duplicate of himself appeared behind him. Then the clone swiftly dashed toward the Uchiha district while Shisui's real body stood firm behind Susanoo, blocking the path of the Root ninja force.
