Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Kaitlyn

A familiar pair of eyes flashed in Kaitlyn's head as she woke up. It was rainy and the sky wasn't so bright. She quickly sat up, remembering she wasn't in her room in the palace anymore. She blindly reached for the lamp at the bed stand and turned it on. She looked around noticing she was alone inside, he hadn't come back from wherever he went. She hadn't seen him since she entered the carriage with Theresa.

" Might as well live this new life without seeing eachother." She scoffed.

" You're awake." Theresa said as she walked inside, " your bath is ready." She smiled, Kaitlyn returned the gesture and they went to the bathroom. She settled in the tub and muscles relaxed with the warmth, the water was covered in pink pedals smelt like perfume. Theresa lit the scented candles as she kept her company.

A thought came to Kaitlyn's mind and it bothered her,

" I will write to him." She said quietly, Theresa looked at her in confusion, " I'll write to Julian." She added.

" But why?"

" Because I need to. I don't want to stay here any longer."

" But I thought you like it here my lady, I thought you're comfortable.."

" But I'm not!" Kaitlyn retorted, " I don't want to stay here, with him. Julian can help me, he's the one I've wanted to marry Theresa!. He can get me out of here."

" You say this like you are trapped here…"

" Well I feel trapped." Tears pooled her eyes, her chest heaving, "I was brought here without my consent to live with a man I barely know. He's not even here!."

" My lady, I don't think.."

" You will help me with my plan. I will write this letter and you will take it to the nearby town and make sure it is delivered to Whitegate manor, and that is final. Am I clear Theresa?" She asked curtly, Theresa sighed in defeat and nodded,

" Yes, my lady."

Sighing, she came out of the tub, wore her robe and quietly left the bathroom.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. Quiet, boring, sad, it was depressing and nauseating too. Theresa wasn't speaking to her, but she didn't care, she had written the letter and it'll probably be in whitegate manor in a few days. Good. Perfect!.

She sighed for the fourteenth time as she walked down the long stairwell, her fingers grazing the rails. All day she's gone from sleeping, to visiting the garden, and then walking around the field, nothing interesting has happened all day. Deep down she missed Theresa's innocent bickering, but she'd made the girl sad because of a man who's not even there.

She sat lazily on the dining chair and picked a cookie from a plate. As she ate silently, she thought of the downsides of her letter reaching whitegate manor.

" My lady?"

She immediately recognised the familiar voice that spoke, she hadn't seen him all day.

" Salvador, I've been bored all day, where have you been?"

" I was attending to some matters in Noctis." He said. She nodded slowly and smiled politely.

Is he there too?, she wondered.

" Would you like to continue the tour?" He asked,

" Okay, I'm not doing anything anyway."

Salvador showed her some rooms in the manor, an indoor office, and a very big library. The Library took her attention the most, it was so big filled with thousands of books she wondered if they'd all been read.

" Lord Alucard liked reading when he was younger so his father made sure his manors had libraries." Salvador stated. She got more curious about him, Alucard, he didn't look like someone who fancied anything at all. At least not with those cold eyes.

" where has he been?, it's been two nights now." Kaitlyn asked as they left the library,

" He's handling some crucial matters, he'll be back soon." Salvador stated, she nodded and they made their way down the stairs and into the dining room.

" Okay. Tell me something, what is his family like?" she asked, Salvador smiled at her sudden curiosity and spoke,

" Well, the Veynars are very royal and live easy lives. His father, Balthazar Veynar is the de..king of Noctis, and has been that way for as long as he's lived. Alucard has two siblings, his older brother Luther and his younger brother Ramsses."

" Ramsses… I know that name. I've read books about a wealthy kingdom in the desert, they have large pyramids and wear peculiar clothes. Ramsses is supposed to be the name of one of their past kings or something. It's weird cuz I thought they were extinct."

" Oh, well.. you're right, My lady. But, they still live, but only in little tribes. They're mostly travelers." Salvador explained, a slight rise in his voice.

" Hmmm. If you don't mind me asking, do they all have different mothers? Alucard and his siblings?."

" Yes My lady. Luther's mother was King Balthazar's first wife, but after she had Luther, she fell sick. He soon met Alucard's mother but she died while having him. After her death, Luther's mother passed too.The king then began to travel and from one of his travels, he brought back Ramsses."

Kaitlyn nodded, taking in all the information. She tried to ignore the fact that each sibling having different mothers and still living together was kind of weird. But Balthazar Veynar was a king and probably had many bastard children around but he managed to keep those three as his.

" Thank you for telling me this, at least I know I have someone to come to if I have questions about my supposed husband." Kaitlyn smiled.

" Or you could just ask him yourself?" Salvador suggested, a small smile on his lips. Kaitlyn was a bit stunned by his reply but she sighed and smiled politely,

" That conversation will take a very long time to progress Salvador. Anyways, the tour has been splendid, I'll be in my room if dinner's ready."

Salvador nodded and she walked away silently, strangely humoured at Salvador's words.

Ask him?, I don't even think we'd talk to each other at all let alone have a conversation.
