Brother Ye Chen, Nalan Yanran doesn't like Xiao Yan and wants to break off their engagement....but she's afraid of what people will say," Ya Fei said, her tone laced with frustration.

She leaned back slightly, her beautiful eyes fixed on Ye Chen, worry hidden behind their sharp gleam.

"But if she sends you in her place… won't everyone criticize you instead?"

In Ya Fei's heart, Ye Chen was nearly perfect...talented, noble, destined for greatness.

But if word got out that he was the one delivering the breakup message, wouldn't people accuse him of interfering in someone else's relationship? Wouldn't they call him a shameless homewrecker?

The thought made her uneasy. After offering herself to him, she already saw Ye Chen as her man.

How could any woman stay calm knowing her man might be mocked because of another woman?

Ye Chen gave a soft sigh, his expression calm. "Something happened to Yanran.

She can't come here personally right now."

Of course, he didn't tell the real reason....that Nalan Yanran was already pregnant. That secret had to be protected at all costs.

Ya Fei narrowed her eyes. "Hmph.

What could possibly be more important than ending a marriage engagement?

She just wants to save face, doesn't she?"

"She's afraid of people's judgment. That's all," Ye Chen replied.

"You're really defending her?" Ya Fei muttered, clearly annoyed.

Ye Chen chuckled and leaned closer, gently pinching her cheek. "Don't overthink it. It's just an engagement....breaking it off isn't the end of the world.

Besides… we're talking about the Xiao family. It's not like they're some powerful clan."

In truth, Ye Chen didn't care about the Xiao family. If Xiao Yan wasn't a special existence.

the so-called "Son of the Plane," blessed by fate and protected by destiny....Ye Chen would've ended the engagement long ago.

He wasn't like Yun Yun, who constantly worried about the Yunlan Sect's public image.

If Xiao Yan were just another ordinary young master, this matter would've already been settled without a second thought.

"So… are you planning to visit the Xiao family directly?" Ya Fei asked carefully.

She knew that the Xiao family was just a small household in Wutan City.

Even her Mittel Auction House could easily pressure them, let alone someone like Ye Chen, backed by the mighty Yunlan Sect.

But to her surprise, Ye Chen shook his head. "Before I left, Teacher told me not to make this matter public.

A broken engagement isn't something we should make a big deal about. Better to handle it quietly and respectfully."

In the original storyline, Nalan Yanran had humiliated Xiao Yan in front of the entire Xiao clan.

That public embarrassment had destroyed Xiao Yan's pride—and his father's too.

Ye Chen didn't want to repeat that mistake. He had no personal grudge against Xiao Yan and saw no reason to create unnecessary drama.

Unlike Nalan Yanran, who had acted impulsively, he wanted to do things differently.

"I don't want to shame anyone," he added. "Let's settle it in a way that lets everyone keep some dignity....Yanran, the Xiao family, and even me.

If we do this quietly, the Yunlan Sect's name won't be dragged through the mud, and Xiao Yan won't have a reason to hold a grudge."

Ya Fei's brows drew together slightly. "So… what's your plan then?"

"You've been living in Wutan City for three years now," Ye Chen said with a smile, gently wrapping his arm around her waist.

"You must know the Xiao family well, right?"

"Of course. We've had business dealings with them before." She paused, thinking, then looked at him.

"Wait… are you asking me to contact them?"

Ye Chen nodded. "Exactly. I want you to send them an invitation....a formal one.

Invite both Xiao Zhan and Xiao Yan to a banquet at the Mittel Auction House."

He added, "But make sure the invitation comes from you. Don't mention me at all."

Understanding dawned in her eyes. "Ah… so you'll show up at the banquet instead. That way, it won't look suspicious."

"Exactly. If I go to their house directly, people will start talking.

Even if we want to keep things low-key, rumors would spread as soon as I'm seen at their gate."

As a direct disciple of the Yunlan Sect's master and someone connected to the Mittel family, Ye Chen's presence in Wutan City was enough to draw attention.

If people learned about his visit, it wouldn't take long before they guessed the real reason he came.

Ya Fei frowned slightly. "Isn't this a bit too formal? We're talking about a small family. Do they really deserve this kind of special treatment?"

Ye Chen's eyes softened. "It's not about status.

Yanran and I made this decision together. We owe them a little courtesy.

This banquet is a way to show respect.

At the very least, it gives Xiao Yan and his father a chance to walk away with their pride intact."

There was silence for a moment as Ya Fei stared at him.

Finally, she let out a long breath and nodded. "Alright. I'll prepare the invitations. Leave it to me."

Though she didn't like the idea of helping Nalan Yanran, she would still do what Ye Chen asked....because it was him who asked.

And that, in the end, was what mattered most to her.
