Going to school. Getting good grades. To get a secure job. You spend millions to earn thousands. The money you make is just enough to send you back to work. Some of the many inconsistencies of this world we live in. The progress of technology is astounding yet our human intelligence hasn't increased one bit.
People are so dumb they don't find it strange.
"Damn you Nagisa! I knew you were the one who took em. Giv'em back right now." This girl.
Her name was Cho. She's the only one whose not afraid of me. We use to be friends. She hates me because she's jealous of me...and that I blocked all her advances towards my brother who she had a crush on.
She and him are the same age but because she had a mental breakdown when she was younger she had to repeat a grade. After that she became obsessed with my brother and we stopped being friends.
She wore a modified version of the school's uniform. A really short plad skirt, leg warmers, bangles, earrings, a choker, eyelashes, make up, a butterfly painted on her face and her curled hair was dyed...I don't know, rainbowish brunette or something? To be honest she's better off this way. She was too plain and forgettable before.
"Yes I did and no I won't." I put on my Deal With It sunglasses. Technically they're Kai's and I stole em but meh.
She started yapping her mouth. "You're such a bitch. What have I ever done to you?"
"Do you still have a crush on my brother after what he did to you?"
She was passing by, saw what happened and alerted the teacher. Surprisingly she was the least harmed. "Don't bother with the usual bs. That day our class was suppose to be on a field trip yet you weren't there. It was your one chance to talk to him without me around to stop you. For all I know you were the one that set him off."
"Like, no it wasn't me! It was them! Those pieces of homosapien garbage. Kai was too kind to those trash. He should have killed em!-" She covered her mouth.
Homosapien? "...You really are crazy."
She banged her fists on the table. "I'm. Not. Crazy..." Her tone stern as she stared me down.
She serious. I sighed. "Then explain it so I don't think you are."
"You wouldn't understand." She looked away.
"Don't give me that shit. Today I won't take your excuses." I glare at her, waiting for an answer.
".....Do you know....about The Truth Of The World?-"
I dragged her across the table. "How do you know about that?!"
She grinned. "You knew as well huh? Did you hear it from Kai too?"
"What does my brother have to do with this? He couldn't possibly know-"
Bursting through the cafeteria doors were three boys shouting. "Kai is back!!" The room went silent. Everyone stared at them. They glanced around. I motioned them over. They mumbled curses at me but had no choice but to comply.
They took a seat. The tallest one, I think his name was Hercules, spoke. "Should have known it was you when we got a text from Kai-chan's phone."
"You've been avoiding me."
"Well da. We've always been avoiding you, brocon." Says the one in a scarf, Babo.
I clenched my fist. "Do you boys not like your teeth?"
William, the green haired one, punched Babo's shoulder. "Shut up dude! Anyway Nagisa-san, why'd you trick us into coming here?"
"... can't I just call you here because I want to hangout..." I said sheepishly. All four of them stared before bursting into laughter. "Is that really so hard to believe?" I frowned.
"I never knew you could make jokes brocon. You want to hangout with us dweebs? There's better chance of you asking about The Truth Of The World." Said Hercules.
"Oh hell no! You too?" I looked at their faces. "All of you? How?" They looked at each other then displayed their wounds. These were different from what they received at the hands of the bullies. These were self inflicted.
"It was Kai, wasn't it?" Said Cho. She rolled up her sleeves. Her hands covered in old and new scars.
"My brother? But how?" This doesn't make any sense! Yamaguchi men are Lesser Humans too, but the curse restricts their minds from acknowledging The Truth of The World.
"When I was little, you and your brother were the only ones who was nice to me. I had a crush on him so I would always follow him around whenever you weren't around. One day I followed him and that's when I heard it. He cursed the world." She gripped her shaking arm.
"Saying that it was flawed, inconsistent and broken." Hercules continued.
"That homosapiens are so advanced yet their intelligence is so low in comparison to the advancement." Said Babo
"That they have no creativity or ingenuity just doing as they are told yet have advanced so far." William added.
"That it doesn't make sense. The Truth Of This World." I was astonished. These people that I thought were normal were keeping such a big secret. I was shocked, astonished even. I was gripped by a an elation of malice, cruelly twisting my lips into a psychotic smiled. I gripped my jaw to contain myself.
Most of my cousins my age, with the exception of Akane who's still shady, are just starting to fathom The Truth Of The World. At least...I'm not alone anymore.
"How did you guys find out?" Said Cho.
Hercules fiddled with his fingers. "The same way you did. It happens once every year. He'd break down and curse the world. That time we were fortunate enough to be around him when it happened. We thought he had gone crazy but when the day ended he was back to normal like nothing happened."
"We thought nothing of it at first but then the inconsistencies were as plain as day." He gripped his head. "The lies, the hypocrisy! All unnecessarily! Day in and day out it kept us from sleeping. The maddness threatening to take our sanity. We didn't waste time focusing anymore or become popular or chasing girls because they wouldn't understand what we're going through. They were simply beneath us." Babo cracked his knuckles.
"We tried to confront Kai about it but he seems completely oblivious to his own truth. we secretly gave him Iq test pretending it was a class assignment. Then after that we brought a seven sided Rubik's cube to school. We gave him one to solve but he pretended that he couldn't do it. Anticipating this we switched out our unsolved Rubik's cube with finished ones then encouraged him to finish his." William stared at the table. "He finished it in a minute and got a perfect one hundred on the IQ test."
I arched a brow at his statement. The cube was impressive but the test is nothing special.
"The test sheet when held sideways read ha ha ha fuck you."
I could feel my lips twisting again. But I wasn't the the only one. Cho was barely manage to keep her breathing steady.
"He's a genius but purposely tries to hide it. We couldn't understand why but then we realized once you know the truth of this world your life is cursed. Being able to see the inconsistencies will drive you to the point of insanity." The malevolent smile had already made a home on his lips.
They were right. The minds of homosapiens aren't capable of retaining this information. "But why do you guys hurt yourselves?" Some of the members of the Eschaton Temple had self inflicted wounds too but not to this degree. Do homosapien Seekers with Level One Compression suffer more backlash than Level Two Compression Seekers? No, that can be right. As far as I understood it, the highest level a homo sapien can gain in The Truth Of The World is Level Three Compression because the further you go, the higher the backlash. The Eschaton Temple must be using something to limit their backlash.
"It's the only way to keep sane. This mundane lifestyle. Is. Sickening! A disease!" Hercules grit his teeth.
"We're not like you Nagisa. At least you're a lesser human. The rest of us are Homosapiens with knowledge beyond our capacity." Babo shook his hand. "Whoops, nearly broke a finger."
"We're like computers with a 64gb hardrive trying to download a file that's 100gb. Of course we're going to crash every once in awhile. You on the other hand have a 128gb hardrive and built with better processors." Said William.
"It was either hurt everyone else or ourselves. Naturally we followed Kai's example." Said Cho.
"Did my brother ever find out that you guys tricked him?"
"Yeah. That didn't go so well." Said Hercules. "We confronted him the following year when you had his next break down because we wanted answer. The person we met that day wasn't the Kai we knew. I can only describe the encounter as... my life was just book to him. That I could do nothing to surprise him and no matter what I did, it'd all be a part of his plan. Then he left us with answers that aroused more questions."
"Which was?"
"The extramundane."
"Level Two Compression?! But how?! For that to be achieved you need to see the extra mundane and there are none on Okinawa." Well none that I know off.
"We saw them. Not in person. Over the dark web. There's literally a shit ton of info about the extra mundane but he's the only one who can access it."
This whole time we thought my brother didn't know The Truth Of The World because of the curse, but now I find out that not only does he know, he's at Level Three Comprehension like me, mom, aunt and grandma. The hell?!" I burst out into a mad chuckle. The malice in me finally bursting forth in euphoria. I could feel the eyes of the other students on me but I could careless about the sheep.
"At this point I'm not even surprised anymore." I slammed my hands on the table while grinning, much to the annoyance of the local school delinquents.
And these four. I originally called them here to get info on that day to use for what I have to do next but them knowing the truth of the world is even better.
"Here's my ultimatum. Follow me and you'll know more about The Truth Of The World and I can guarantee that you'll be given a chance to evolve." Their eyes lit with malice as they hyperventilate from their twisted lips like the oasis for their thirst had been revealed. "But first." I stood on the table. "Yo! Listen up. I've sit back and watched you all run amuck on my turf. That ends now. From now on this school belongs to me and my outfit." I gestured to the four behind me. The room was silent. No one moved. "Is that it? No one's going to challenge me?" I stared at the delinquents while my so-called outfit members facepalmed.
The stood up, knives in their hands as they surround my table.
I grinned ready to unwind.
