Chapter 12 - Chapter XII (12)

Nagisa's P.O.V.

I ran. Chasing after a man walking in a graveyard. The ground covered in fog yet I felt nothing. I wasn't cold nor tired. In the darkness of night I could still see him.

"Nagisa... Nagisa..." He called out to me. His back turned.

A hand grabbed mine, holding firm and strong. "Nagisa-chan. Your my imoto no matter what. Knowing your father won't change that." Kai smirked at me with an unshakable confidence that threw me off. For a moment I felt my heart waiver.

"I know that. But...I still want to know who my father is." I let go of his hand abandoning a bond that I've longed for just as he abandoned me. But I had to, I had to know, I ran towards the man I knew to be my father.

Finally. I caught up, grabbing his hand. "Are you...my real father."

He spun around. Face of a skeleton. "Naaagiiiisaaaa...!" It wheezed.

I gasped. I was sitting upright in my bed...no wait. This is my brother's room. I always somehow end up in his bed hugging his body pillow. Who knows why he has it.

I took a whiff. It smelled like me and him. Stupid coward...you just had to leave after finally taking a stand. You became such a badass! I wouldn't have to worry about hurting you or anyone picking on you. We could even fight with each other like other brothers and sisters do!...but you left me behind. Stupid useless jerk! I punched the pillow. So much has happened since you left. I stared at a picture of us.

I went downstairs and see my family in disarray. "Put it out! Put it out!"

"I'm trying hag!" Yelled my aunt to my grandmother. She swung her pipe at the fire engulfed stove.

"Go mommy go." Cheered one of my nieces.

"Where is Akane and your twin sister?"

"They got eaten by the clothes machine."

"What?!" Shouted my aunt and grandmother.

Another cousin runs into the kitchen, a vacuum cleaner stuck to her clothes. "Help me! Help me! This sucking machine from hell is trying to devour me!"

Which cousin is that again? I left and returned holding a woman by the tank top she was sleeping in. "Wake up." I dropped her.

"Huhla?! Ehla?! Whatla?! What happened la? Where am I la?..." She was groggy but her nose twitch. "Smells like something's burning... something is burning!!" She looked around her to see the disaster of a kitchen. "What the hell is going on here la?!"

After an hour of cleaning, scrubbing pots and pans, replacing chard and smoked curtins, she had everything as good as new. "Look la. I know you guys are cursed and all but there's no part that says you destroy everything you touch!" She lectured them.

Her name was Yuko Mikawa. She was some stray my idiot brother blackmailed my mom into taking in before he abandoned his family and his duties. In exchange for her keeping her life she's living with us as a maid. She also has to manage the diner she used to work in.

I hissed. "From my perspective this happened because of your in competence."

"What la?!"

"Take it easy on her Nagisa. She's doing the best she can." Said my aunt.

I ignore her. "You can't even manage simple chores that my useless brother did on a daily basis. What good are you?"

"Nagisa." My grandmother said.

"Well excuse me for being human la! I work day in and day out, cooking, washing, cleaning this whole mansion, make time to manage my diner at the same time. I'm doing the work of 30 people! I'm exhausted! I don't know how Yamaguchi-sama, how he did it but I'm not like him..." Her head hung low.

"If it's so bad why are you still here? Why not run away like that coward did?"

"Nagisa!" Grandmother glared.

Droplets hit the floo"Because... you guys are the only family I've got...." She got out between hick ups looking pitiful.

"Like hell I'd accept someone as weak as you becoming apart of this family!"

She hollered letting the tears pour out.

"That's enough Nagisa!!" Yells my mom. Finally coming out of the documents she pretends to read. "Why don't you watch what you say?" The others comfort her.

"But it's the truth. She's useless."

"Damnit, when did you become such a brat! Do you know why we did this? We realized she was over worked so we decided to give her a day off to rest. Obviously it didn't go according to plan but we just want maid-ko to know we value her efforts."

Yuko smiled tearily. "Wealy la?" My mom nods. Yuko hugs her, crying into her chest getting snot everywhere. Mom passed her to my aunt. "I'mmm sooo hhhapppyyy."

"Stop getting snot all over my tits!"

They all looked so chummy with that worthless woman. Just like how they were with my useless brother in secret. It was an eye sore.

But that wasn't what pissed me off. "... Why wasn't I told anything?"

"Why would we need to tell you? You obviously don't like the girl." She looked back at her documents.

"That's beside the point!" I said. Everyone's head turned. "I'm the Future Clan Leader! Yet nobody treats me like one!"

"That's not something you get, it's earned."

"Earn my ass! Every Clan Leader was instantly acknowledged based on their abilities and skill. I've had all the qualifications. You yourself was the first to see the mark of Clan Leader on me. But you'd rather wait around for your precious son to return after he grew a pair and deserts us!"

"Nagisa! If you say one more word, I swear to God." She reached for her chrome bat.

"What!? Hit me?! For what? Insulting you? Or is it because I insulted your precious son? I dare you. Go ahead. But if you're going to discipline me... then at least wipe away the nose bleed you got from looking at your son's childhood photos." Her eyes widened, darting back and forth.

I stretch my left hand towards the folder at the end of the counter. It flew into my hand. I toss it above her head. Kai's pictures fell out in the dozens.

Everyone stared from them to her. She turned away. Her face red as a vain popped. She glared. I brace myself. My heart raced in anticipation.

Suddenly everything erupted into chaos. Everyone was fighting her over Kai's pictures and gushed at his cuteness. I sighed and walked up stairs.

A loud smacked echoed behind me. "What is it now mother?" I heard mom, sounding annoyed more than hurt.

"Why didn't you stop her?"

"I'm cutting her some slack mother. The turd ran away and left all his responsibilities on her. She's stressing out."

"Why is my daughter such a bone headed dense main character, is beyond my wisdom."

"Shut up mother. By the way when did she become such a foul mouth?"

"Oh my word! Who would've thought?" You could hear the sarcasm dripping from each word. "After all she is your daughter. I'm surprised she hasn't told you about your cuchie yet."

"Mother, who says cuchie anymore?"

After getting dressed I left the mansion. Recently I've been experimenting with my wardrobe to give myself a new look. My long black hair that transitioned into red at the end was let down covering my right eye. I wore black half zipped sweater, t-shirt, uniform skirt and tights underneath. In the end I just looked like a thug.

I stood atop the gate. I didn't feel like riding with Aunt Sayuri today either.

Not after what happened the last time I rode with her.

I crouch down looking in the school's direction. The restoration is almost complete. Though Shimamura did order the hit, we paid for the reconstruction materials, bought the blueprints for it from him and did the reconstruction ourselves. But he's the one who suffered losses because of the rumours we spread. That, the disaster happened because of his faulty buildings. Now our public opinion has risen slightly.

I took out Kai's phone. Mom dragged him to the store and bought it for him saying that it's for when he gets kidnapped.

Tch. Total BS. It's the latest J-phone! And when I wanted her to some with me to buy one for myself, she threw her credit card at me. "Some mother she is." Hood on, I went into a music folder with my name on it. He made folders for everyone close to him it seemed.

"Should have known. Nothing but K-pop. Would it kill him to have something Japanese that's not anime related." I selected the one that looked most Englishy one since I was fluent. It was Hello Bitches by someone named CL. The rhythm was upbeat so it was perfect.

I leapt off the gate gliding down the hill using the trees as a spring board to launch myself over and over until I was far enough to land running on one of the our closest neighbor's homes. I then leaped another six.

Faster and faster I went. Propelled by the song to push harder. Each leap was so long I felt like I flew. Getting carried away by the excitement, I didn't hold back on my landings, leaving craters in my wake. But I didn't care. The rush was too amazing.

I landed at the school gate, I completed a three hour walk in eleven minutes.

The classes were uneventful. I didn't even need to pay attention. In school, the only skill you needed to pass was to know how to memorize. You didn't need to learn. Most of what is taught is useless anyway. It's not like someone's gonna stick you up at the supermarket and ask what's the square root of pie.

I grabbed a something to eat before taking a seat in the lunch room. Everyone avoided me as usual. I tried not to let it get to me. Their all just ignorant homosapiens anyway. Just doing as they're told. Never knowing The Truth Of The World.
