The next morning, after breakfast, Shiraishi E went to the Mouri Detective Agency. He happened to run into Kogoro Mouri on his way out.
"Hey, kid, sorry to make you come all this way for nothing. I can't drink with you today," he said, scratching his head in embarrassment. "Last night, some guy broke into the police headquarters, snatched a criminal, and injured a lot of officers. Some of them are good friends of mine, so I'm going to visit them now."
Shiraishi E also wanted to know what happened next, so he said, "Something that big happened? No way, I have to go and see too."
"You're so nosy, kid!!" Kogoro Mouri grumbled but didn't refuse.
Just then, Ran returned from outside. Hearing their conversation, she quickly said, "I want to go too!!"
Shiraishi E looked at Ran curiously. "Aren't you going to visit Shinichi?"
"Sigh, he went out early this morning," Ran said with a hint of helplessness. "He said the police department asked him to go over and investigate a case." She complained, "He didn't even tell me in advance... I just made a trip for nothing!"
Hearing this, Kogoro Mouri's expression turned sour, feeling sorry for his daughter's wasted trip. He couldn't help but say, "You're really something. Can't you see that kid doesn't care about you? And you still run over to him, giving him a warm face to stick to his cold butt!!"
"Dad! How can you say that? Shinichi just forgot!" Ran, as always, said a few good words for Shinichi.
Watching the Mouri father and daughter start to argue again, Shiraishi E went downstairs to hail a cab.
After arriving at the hospital, Kogoro Mouri quickly went to visit his old colleagues.
"Hirano? Didn't you say on the phone that your right arm was broken? How can you be smoking now?"
"Sigh, if I don't make it sound serious, how can I get a chance to rest?"
"Honda, what about you? Didn't you say your head was ringing?"
"Yeah, my mind has been severely traumatized! You have no idea, I haven't had a break in half a year."

Watching these veteran detectives faking injuries in various ways, Shiraishi E couldn't help but marvel at how cunning they all were. Each one was using a work-related injury as an excuse to rest. The people of Beika City were truly blessed to have them.
"What happened last night?" Kogoro Mouri, seeing that his friends were not seriously injured, began to inquire.
"Have you heard about that Bandit Azu who's been causing a stir lately?" Hirano said while smoking. "He's the one who broke in last night! He blew up the power system and then snuck in while it was dark. He was so bold, he went into the interrogation room, knocked out Inspector Megure, took the Italian robber, and fought his way out!"

After hearing the whole story, Kogoro Mouri was visibly shocked. "This guy is too arrogant! So reckless!"
"Yeah... he even dared to break into the police headquarters. He's completely lawless!" Ran said indignantly.
Just then, Shinichi's voice suddenly appeared: "That guy was actually being restrained. He didn't use a gun from beginning to end."
Hearing the voice, Ran turned her head and said with a pleasant surprise, "Shinichi? What are you doing here?"
"I just came from the police department. What a coincidence, Ran, I didn't expect to see you here," Shinichi said, greeting Shiraishi E and Kogoro Mouri after coming in.
"Kid, did you find anything out?" Although Kogoro Mouri was annoyed that he had stolen his business, he had to admit that when it came to being a detective, the other was better than him.
"No," Shinichi said with a headache. "I've already watched the surveillance footage. The bandit was wearing gloves during the operation and didn't leave any fingerprints."
Ran offered her own idea. "I remember that bandit was only wearing a red mask, not a ski mask. Can't you identify him through his hair?"
"Theoretically, yes," Shinichi said helplessly. "But the police headquarters is so big, and so many people lose hair... there's no way to determine which one belongs to the bandit."
"Ah... that's true," Ran realized she had oversimplified things.
"And, about an hour after the incident, the body of the Italian robber was found," Shinichi said in a deep voice. "He was shot once in the back, and his chest was blown through."
"What a brutal guy!!" Kogoro Mouri said after hearing this, rubbing his chin. "He probably killed him after getting his hands on those Maple Leaf gold coins."
Shiraishi E listened quietly as they discussed the case. Knowing that he hadn't left any major clues, he felt relieved.
After staying at the hospital until noon, the group had lunch outside.
"Let's go, let's go, time to go back for an afternoon nap," Kogoro Mouri said, feeling sleepy after eating his fill.
"It's a shame to go back just like that after coming out," Ran felt that sleeping at home on a weekend was a waste of time. She said excitedly, "I heard that at the Beika Art Museum, there's a suit of medieval armor that walks by itself! Let's go and see what's going on! It's not far from here anyway."
Kogoro Mouri scoffed. "That's definitely a story the museum made up to attract customers. You're so naive."
Shinichi, for once, agreed with Kogoro Mouri. "Yeah, Ran. That rumor is just to fool little kids!"
Seeing the two of them completely uninterested, Ran was a little unhappy. Just as she was about to say something, she heard Shiraishi E say, "Since they're not interested, then I'll go with you."
"Mmm! Then just the two of us will go!" Ran's mood immediately improved a lot.
Seeing Ran and Shiraishi E going alone, Shinichi got anxious and quickly changed his tune. "But then again, I don't have anything to do right now, so let's all go together!"
Watching Shinichi change his mind so quickly, Shiraishi E knew he was starting to get wary. People are like that; they don't cherish what they get too easily, and they become complacent when they are too favored. Once they sense they are about to lose something, they regret it and desperately try to make amends, trying every possible way to hold on.
However, he didn't care.
"Then you three can go. I'm going home to sleep," Kogoro Mouri waved his hand and left潇洒地.
