Tokikake's hand lingered on his sword hilt, but he could not draw. His heart twisted. To move now was to become an enemy of the entire world. Was such a price worth paying?
Every man had attachments—family, dreams, a life he wished to protect. To oppose the world government meant throwing it all away.
The Five Elders launched another assault, this time including Momousagi in their target.
She held her blade, yet did not swing. Not out of fear, but out of knowing—her strength, drained by battle, could not touch them. Still, she had no regrets. At least Good had seen her resolve. That was enough.
"Idiot… I just wish you had a little more heart, Good." She thought bitterly. "If you did, maybe you'd see me as Tokikake does…"
Her eyes closed, a tear slipping down her cheek. She was ready for death.
But then—
"Is this what I taught you, Momousagi?" A familiar voice thundered.
"I said—no matter what—fight!"
A gale roared past her. Her eyes snapped open. The familiar back stood before her once more.
"Good… Admiral Good!?"
Before her stunned gaze, Good blocked the Elders' combined assault.
Gasps spread. The Reckless Maniac had transformed again into his Dragon-Man form, Conqueror's Haki and Armament burning around him, the powers of both Tremor-Tremor and Clank-Clank Fruits surging forth.
One man stood against the Five Elders.
The battlefield shook. Marines shouted in disbelief. The Elders themselves paled.
"How does he still have strength!?"
The eldest roared: "CP! If anyone dares cheer this traitor, kill them!"
Good only grinned, bloodshot eyes gleaming. In his mind, the God of War System roared:
"Strength… Agility… Armament Haki… Conqueror's Haki…"
Points surged madly, his mastery of powers climbing, even copying fragments of the Elders' own abilities—
[Blood Fruit: 13%]
[Mythical Zoan—Kirin Form: 18%]
"Hehehe…" Good chuckled. His laughter grew louder, wilder.
"For war, until godhood! The more I fight—the stronger I grow!"
His power exploded. Attributes that once rose by twos now soared in the hundreds.
His right side was gone, but his left fist swung, tearing sky and earth apart. Reality fractured, the ground levitated, dragging Good and the Elders into a sky-borne battlefield.
A black thunderclad punch hurled the Elders back. Their faces twisted in fear.
"This monster…"
The fifth Elder bellowed at the marines: "Support us! Slay this world's enemy!"
But the soldiers only stared, unmoving. None obeyed.
Good's laughter rang louder, drowning fear. His blood sprayed from his wound, but he ignored it. Another fist crashed down.
"BOOM!"
The fifth Elder fell, the others staggered. Blood marked their lips. The unshakable rulers of the world were pressed back by a broken man.
Respect filled the eyes of all who watched. Admiral or pirate, none could deny it—this was a warrior worthy of reverence.
The Elders' composure crumbled.
"You… you would defy the world government!?"
From below, Steelbone Kong sighed. For the sake of order, he stepped forward. The Elders could not fall—not without the world plunging into chaos.
He joined them. Six titans now struck against Good.
Their clash shook the heavens. Good reeled, spitting blood and pieces of flesh.
"He's fading!" the fifth Elder shouted, desperation breaking his voice. "Kill him now!"
They lunged.
But Good swallowed his blood, eyes dimming. For the first time, fury burned in his face. His lips mouthed soundlessly:
"I… am the God of War!"
"System! I AM THE GOD OF WAR!"
And in that instant, his body felt light again, as if oiled gears turned smooth. His vision blurred, but with his Observation Haki, clarity no longer mattered. He stood unbroken, ready to fight once more.
