Kaido had been captured by the Marines before. Out of boredom, he would often attempt suicide or cause chaos at Marineford.

The Vinsmokes and Big Mom leaned closer to the screens.
From Kaido's expression, they could see it—he was afraid.

The heavens themselves responded to Good's strike.
The power of his Armament and Conqueror's clashed together, shaking the execution platform.
Luffy's eyes widened in shock. For the first time, he truly understood why Good had been able to defeat his father.
The power he displayed was terrifying.
As for Kaido himself—his heart was gripped by the chilling breath of death.
