Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Kaido vs. Reckless Maniac!

By now, Doflamingo had practically become Good's errand boy.

He had no choice—after seeing what Good had done to Jack, he was terrified of provoking him and ending up on the receiving end of that same brutal combo. Without Jack's monstrous physique and rare Ancient Zoan durability, he'd be finished in one round.

So as long as Good was around, Doflamingo could only serve him like a god.

The gathered vice admirals' faces shifted grimly.

Beasts Pirates' Kaido—the so-called "Strongest Creature in Land, Sea, and Air"—was a name that could make anyone pale.

Even Momousagi's expression darkened at the news of Kaido's arrival.

One veteran vice admiral turned to Doflamingo. "Mingo, go stall him. Tell him the Reckless Maniac Admiral already left."

"Tell him if he's got the guts, to go to Marineford…"

The idea was to lure Kaido toward Marine HQ—where, no matter how brazen he was, he'd have to think twice.

Momousagi was speechless. Had they forgotten who Kaido was? That lunatic had gone to Marine HQ countless times trying to get himself killed, and nothing—no execution method—had worked on him.

That was part of why his infamy had reached such heights.

Good, on the other hand, sprang to his feet, still clutching a giant meat leg. "Finally! I was getting bored. Time to fight!"

The vice admirals tried to stop him, but Good was already charging toward the port.

Even without using his powers, his physique carried him there in under ten minutes.

When he arrived, he saw it—a massive blue dragon snaking across the sky from the sea, rolling in with black clouds and storm winds. The ocean swelled violently under its passage.

The very air seemed to carry Kaido's fury.

Good laughed in excitement. "About time, Kaido!"

Above, Kaido loomed over the port, his massive body coiled in the sky like a tyrant surveying his domain.

The sight alone made many Dressrosans tremble. That oppressive presence—the crushing aura of the world's strongest creature—blanketed the nation.

Kaido's sharp dragon eyes locked on the grinning man below—this must be the new fourth admiral.

Then his gaze shifted to the tallest watchtower by the port.

There, Jack hung upside down like a dead dog, the Beasts Pirates' flag ripped in half and draped over him.

Painted in bold red letters across it: "BEAST PIRATES = ANIMALS."

Kaido's face twisted with rage. Fire seemed to blaze in his eyes, and his fangs ground together audibly. This was a direct insult—not just to Jack, but to him as captain.

Good shot into the air until he was face-to-face with Kaido, the difference in their sheer size making onlookers sweat nervously.

No way this guy could win…

Kaido narrowed his eyes. Flying?

True flight was rare—people like Marco of the Whitebeard Pirates, or King among Kaido's own Three Calamities, were true fliers. Doflamingo, by contrast, only simulated flight by pulling himself along clouds with threads, while Kaido's own "flight" came from stepping on flame clouds.

But Kaido didn't dwell on it—his fury left no room for thought.

"GET LOST!" he roared.

"Not a chance! I've been waiting for you, Kaido!"

No hesitation—Good charged straight in, fist cocked.

"Today I'll show you why I'm the Strongest Creature in Land, Sea, and Air!" Kaido bellowed back.

Light and searing heat gathered in his open jaws—

Bolo Breath!

The dragon's signature attack—a blinding beam of concentrated fire and heat—shot toward Good.

Good didn't flinch. "Dai Funka (Great Eruption)!!"

His ordinary-looking fist erupted in molten magma, forming a massive magma fist that slammed into Kaido's blast.

The collision of the two intense heats triggered a massive explosion. Waves boiled in the harbor below, and the sky lit crimson like the end of the world.

Onlookers in Dressrosa were frozen in terror.

Kaido's expression shifted slightly. "The Magma-Magma Fruit…? Akainu's power!?"

"How the hell…?"

It was the first time he'd seen someone use another person's Devil Fruit ability.

Good shouted back impatiently, "I told you, every time I fight someone, I learn their powers!"

On the ground, Momousagi, the vice admirals, and the Donquixote Family all exchanged speechless looks.

That excuse was beyond ridiculous.

Kaido's scowl deepened. "Do you take me for a fool?"

He decided to skip the talking and went straight to Destructive Wind.

Massive tornadoes formed over the sea near the harbor, ripping apart waves and ships alike, all surging toward Good.

"Perfect!" Good roared back.

"Shishi no Mizu Maki (Lion's Water Roll)!!"

The sea below erupted into colossal fountains, twisting into lion-shaped torrents that encircled Good on all sides, shielding him.

Kaido's pupils shrank in shock. "The Golden Lion…!?"
