Chapter 474 - Chapter 474: Underwater Infiltration

The speedboat sped across the sea, leaving two long wakes behind it.

Just as Shuichi had said, his piloting skills were excellent. The boat moved very smoothly, with very few violent jolts. It was clear that he was indeed an experienced speedboat driver.

Of course, they also had the beautiful weather to thank for this.

Compared to when they had come here earlier, both the sky and the sea were now calm and peaceful, perfect for traveling, which saved them from a lot of bumps.

The sea breeze blew on their bodies, and occasionally, a wild Pokémon would leap from the sea. But everyone's mind was on the upcoming operation. They were in no mood to talk, let alone admire the scenery on either side.

Vroom, vroom, vroom...

The sound of the speedboat's motor hummed continuously.

Not long after, the speedboat docked at the port of the only town on Oki Island. Led by Shuichi, after disembarking, Natsui and the others went straight into a diving supply shop.

As a coastal town, although it was remote, it had everything they needed.

Looking at the dazzling array of various equipment, Natsui directly paid and bought a diving mask and a portable oxygen tank for everyone.

All of them knew how to swim. Especially Ash and Misty, who were excellent swimmers and could hold their breath for a long time. Plus, with the help of their Pokémon, as long as they could ensure they could breathe, they basically didn't need any other equipment.

However, for ease of communication, he also bought a few of those writing slates that could be used underwater and distributed them to the group.

When it was time to pay, because the shop owner was very familiar with Shuichi, he gave them a discount while ensuring the quality of the goods. Although with Natsui's current wealth, he didn't care about that little amount, it did indeed save him quite a bit of money.

After saying goodbye to the owner, the group left the shop. Taking advantage of the fact that there was still a signal here, Natsui called Anabel and also sent her the coordinates.

Although the International Police wouldn't be participating in this operation, the necessary communication was still essential. At the very least, it provided a layer of insurance, just in case!

After everything was ready, the group got on the boat again. Guided by Poliwhirl, they finally arrived at a spot on the sea.

This part of the sea looked no different from any other, except for a few small reefs in the distance that could be used as reference points. These small protruding reefs were not conspicuous, and it was truly impressive that Poliwhirl could accurately remember this place.

On the surface of the water, Poliwhirl pointed down repeatedly. This time, without needing Gengar to translate, everyone understood that the Team Rocket base must be somewhere below.

The group began to put on their gear. Natsui adjusted his equipment and turned to Shuichi. "You should stay up here. Just stay with your Lanturn and provide support for us!"

Knowing he wouldn't be much help, Shuichi obediently agreed. He also knew that someone had to watch the boat.

"I understand. You guys be careful!"

Leaving their luggage on the boat, the group put on their equipment and reviewed the underwater communication hand signals a few more times. Natsui, Erika, Ash, Misty, Ritchie, and Brock—all six of them—sat on the edge of the boat and simultaneously fell backward.

Splash... Splash...

After the sounds of heavy objects hitting the water, the next second, Natsui felt his entire body enveloped by the sea.

The cold seawater stimulated his skin, but after swimming a few strokes, he quickly adapted to the temperature.

Several Water-type Pokémon had been waiting for a long time. Escorted by them, the group sank below the surface and swam towards the depths.

When they first entered the sea, the visibility was still good, and they could see into the distance. But as they descended deeper, the light gradually disappeared, and their range of vision grew smaller. They could also clearly feel the seawater constantly pressing against their bodies!

Because it wasn't the deep sea, the six of them, plus a few Pokémon, quickly reached the seabed.

Through his diving mask, Natsui looked around. It was incredibly dark. Although he didn't have thalassophobia, this environment still made him feel oppressed. Fortunately, having his companions and his Dragonair by his side reassured him a lot.

Led by Poliwhirl, they passed through a patch of coral and, from a distance, saw a brilliantly lit underwater base.

The base was built on flat ground. Although the surroundings were equally dark, the bright lights from within made the base incredibly conspicuous in the deep sea!

The others beside Natsui were amazed by its grand scale. It was truly hard to imagine that Team Rocket had built a secret base here!

They hid among the coral and observed for a long while, but apart from some security cameras, they didn't see any patrolling guards.

This was good news for Natsui and his group. As long as they could avoid the cameras, they should be able to sneak into the base without anyone knowing.

But...

Looking at those cameras, they covered the entire perimeter of the base with no blind spots, making it almost impossible to avoid them!

How do we get past?

Clearly realizing the problem, the group all turned to look at Natsui, hoping he could come up with an idea.

After spending so much time together, whether it was Ash, Misty, and Brock, or Erika, everyone had subconsciously come to regard him as their leader!

Even Ritchie, who hadn't been with them for long, whether out of respect for Natsui's strength or because he believed he should listen to an adult's words, would not act rashly in such a situation and would also want to hear Natsui's suggestion first.

Feeling their gazes, Natsui felt a great deal of pressure.

He looked at the cameras, thinking, and subconsciously stroked his chin.

And as he thought, an idea really came to him!

He took out his writing slate and quickly wrote something on it, then made some gestures to Misty, clearly giving some instructions.

Misty looked at the writing slate, nodded, and then commanded her Corsola to swim straight towards the Team Rocket base.

Under the puzzled gazes of the others, the Corsola, like a curious wild Pokémon, swam openly in front of a camera. As if attracted by its own reflection, it completely blocked the camera with its body, staring at it intently and curiously!

In the sea, such occurrences are actually very common. Wild Pokémon are often attracted to human objects and would not arouse the suspicion of surveillance personnel.

And in that instant, Natsui quickly waved for the others to follow. He then took the lead, swimming past the camera's range and rapidly approaching the Team Rocket base!

By the time they safely reached the outer wall of the base, the Corsola, as if having lost interest in the camera, calmly swam away, having aroused no suspicion at all!
