When Natsui walked into the lounge, several people were already scattered around inside.
First, sitting at the very front, was a handsome man with a serious expression, spiky hair like fire, and a black cape. His gaze was remarkably sharp.
Next to him, a Dragonite was lazily curled up on the floor, feigning sleep.
Next, sitting in a corner, was an old woman in a long purple robe, leaning on a cane. Her hair was nearly grayish-yellow, and she had an unapproachable air. Anyone who didn't know her would surely think she was some wicked witch who had wandered in from somewhere!
Then, there was an old man with grayish-white hair and two large dark circles under his eyes. He looked even more worn out than Looker.
This person wore an open police special forces jacket on his upper body, but on his feet, he shuffled in slippers. Though he was no longer young, he gave off a flippant and cynical vibe!
As for the last person, it was surprisingly the Celadon Gym Leader, Erika!
With the addition of Natsui, Sabrina, and Looker, the special operations team was now assembled!
For a moment, everyone's eyes were focused on Natsui.
"Why are you still wearing a mask?" the old man muttered with a pout. "Don't tell me you're some kind of undercover agent on a secret mission?"
In the distance, Erika also sized Natsui up with suspicion. Why did this person's figure seem somewhat familiar?
But after all, she had only met Natsui a few times and couldn't connect the figure to Natsui's identity alone.
Until Sabrina walked past her.
A faint scent of perfume drifted past Erika's nose. She sniffed gently and immediately recognized its origin; it was clearly that unique perfume from her own store!
But Sabrina wasn't wearing any perfume when she just went out, was she?
And with her status, even if she had personally come to the store to buy perfume, her staff would have surely recognized her!
Being a person of keen insight, with a little thought, Erika had already figured out the whole story and, in the process, guessed Natsui's identity.
So it was him!
But immediately, another question troubled her.
What exactly was the relationship between these two? Why would he give Sabrina perfume? And even more unbelievably, Sabrina had actually accepted it!!
At that moment, Looker walked to the front of the tactical board to face the group.
"Our last team member has arrived. Let me first introduce every—" Looker was saying, then he glanced at Natsui's Gengar mask, paused, and said helplessly, "Forget it, you'd better do it yourself."
Natsui cleared his throat slightly: "Hello everyone, my name... erm, my codename is Player. I specialize in using Ghost-type Pokémon. I look forward to working with you all."
Codename!? Player!?
What the heck are you playing at!?
Looker's face darkened as he listened, but he didn't expose him. Instead, he introduced the people before him.
"The two on your left are members of the Kanto Elite Four, the Ghost-type Master, Ms. Agatha, and the Dragon-type Master, who is also a Pokémon G-Man, Mr. Lance."
"An old bag of bones like me still being called 'Miss'... even I'm blushing a little."
Agatha replied with a flat tone, then nodded at Natsui.
"Young man, to wear a Gengar mask on your head and claim to specialize in Ghost-type Pokémon, you're really something. You know, the young people of this era are less and less fond of these Pokémon that reek of death!"
Natsui accepted Agatha's compliment with composure.
Although he only had one Ghost-type Pokémon, compared to his other Pokémon, Haunter was the most formidable. In a way, it wasn't wrong to say he specialized in them.
Lance also stepped forward at this time and shook Natsui's hand.
"Hello, I'm Lance. To be here, your skills must have certainly been recognized by the officer. On behalf of all the members of the special operations team, I welcome you."
See, as expected of someone who's seen the world, he really knows how to talk!
Looker then looked at the two girls on the right.
"Since you already know Ms. Sabrina, I won't waste my breath. And I believe you've met Ms. Erika before, so I won't make introductions here either."
Finally, only the worn-out-looking old man was left.
"This is Mr. Nanu. He was my former superior, is proficient with Dark-type Pokémon, and is also an Island Kahuna of the Alola region!"
"Ah, those are just little titles, nothing worth bragging about," Nanu first said, waving his hand dismissively at Natsui, then sighed and said lazily, "Honestly, let's just hurry up and finish the mission. That way I can retire early and go back to Alola to live out my days."
"Mr. Nanu," Looker said with a forced smile, "Don't say that. You're still very young, why are you always thinking about retirement?"
Just as Nanu was about to speak, the door to the lounge suddenly opened, and a bald, burly man in a suit and tie walked in from outside.
Seeing him, Nanu quickly composed himself and became serious.
"Is everyone here?" the bald man asked.
"Sir!" Looker saluted and said respectfully, "The special operations team consists of seven members, all present and accounted for!"
The burly man nodded and said to the group, "I am the commander-in-chief of this operation, codename Zero. Thank you all for coming here despite your busy schedules to help the Kanto region, and indeed the world, deal with the troublesome criminal organization that is Team Rocket."
Nanu was the first to applaud, followed by a sparse round of applause that echoed in the lounge.
Once the applause died down, Zero flipped the tactical board and continued, "For this operation, we will be divided into two forces. The main force, composed of the International Police special units, will lead the assault on the base's main gate, supported by armored vehicles and helicopters, to draw Team Rocket's attention."
"As for your special operations team, after the battle begins, you will secretly infiltrate the interior from the underground entrance of the Celadon Game Corner, striking from within while we attack from without, to annihilate and arrest these people in one fell swoop."
Lance asked, "Then what about Giovanni?"
"Don't worry," Zero said, glancing at him. "The other two Elite Four members, Mr. Bruno and Ms. Lorelei, have also arrived in Viridian City. When the time for the general assault comes, they will move simultaneously with us to attack the Viridian Gym!"
This arrangement seemed to have no issues, so no one voiced any objections.
"It's unbelievable," Agatha said with a sigh. "Even now, I still can't believe that the man known as Giovanni of the Earth, a man of such composure, is actually the secret leader of Team Rocket!"
"Whether you're willing to believe it or not, the facts are the facts," Zero sneered. "Behind every successful man often lies a great secret. No matter how perfectly he presents himself, in the end, the day will come when he shows his true colors! No one is an exception!"
