"Ma'am?"
I groaned weakly, clinging to the last remnants of a dream I was having. I was standing by a river bed, gazing into the eyes of a man in front of me. Birds called from the sky as the sunset painted the sky golden.
I closed my eyes when he leaned forward, the familiar scent of sandalwood grazing my nose.
"Madam?"
I jerked upright, breathing hard as I took in my surroundings. A middle-aged woman peered down at me and I shifted away from her, draping the sheets around me.
"Who are you?" I asked.
She stepped back and bowed politely. "My name is Ms. Agnes. I take care of the house."
I nodded. "What are you doing in my room?"
I gasped, eyes snapping to the clock beside me. "I'm late for work!"
Quickly, I removed the sheets and stood up.
"Would you like me to prepare a bath for you, ma'am?"
I shook my head. "No, thank you."
"What would you like for breakfast, ma'am? Do you have any allergies?"
