'When is school going to end?!! We've been here for almost twelve hours!!' She shrugged angrily as she stared at the instructor in charge of conveying the orientation message to them.
He was an average-height guy with jet-black hair. His brown eyes stood out through his dark-shaded glasses, complementing his little moustache and beard.
His shoulders weren't so broad, but they showed he did workouts once in a while. He wore a blue jacket and black jeans with silver-coloured sneakers.
'If I didn't have a particular type of guy I liked, maybe I would have fallen for his looks.'
With the conclusion of his speech, the class was dismissed, leaving the students to discuss everything they learned with each other.
They were all allowed to go to their various homes if they wanted to, and Lily saw it as an opportunity to head over to the guild.
'Finally, it ended. For a second there, I thought I would die of waiting.'
She hurriedly grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulder as she patted her friends on the head while rushing out.
"Hey! Where are you heading off to without us?" Patricia called out as she tried to reach for her lingering fingers on her head.
"I'm heading somewhere important, I'll discuss it later with you guys. You can go home without me," she shouted as she instinctively freed her hand from Patricia's grasp and ran off.
"Wait!!" Veyla called out, but she had already left the classroom and wasn't planning to come back.
She quickly made it to the school gate as she ran through the corridors, avoiding any onlookers so she wouldn't get scolded for running within school premises.
'I have to get there quickly before they're done handing out the results!' she thought as she left the school premises.
She looked left and right. Both sides led to the guild, but the left was tarred with asphalt, though it was blocked due to construction. People still went through, but if she was caught, she would have to pay a fine, and she didn't have money or time for that.
She glanced to the right, which was a forest path and mostly farmland, a shortcut to the guild, but it was someone's property.
Then she glanced forward, a straight road leading right out of her school toward the main road and the bus stop, but it was a long route, and she didn't have money to pay for a bus.
Her house wasn't so far from her school, and so her parents never really gave her money since she could walk it.
'I guess I'll be taking the shortcut then.'
She turned to the left and ran, holding her bag close to her as it slowed her down with its movements.
She ran through the field as quickly as she could, moving swiftly through the open field until she reached the end, and cut straight on the path that led to the guild.
'Come on!! I can get there on time.'
She slowly started feeling weary and tired as she bolted without stopping. Her lips parted as she began taking in large breaths to make up for the little ones she was taking all along.
She arrived right in front of the guild as they began closing the gates, breathing heavily, inhaling large breaths as she panted, resting her weight on her knees with her hands.
Then, slowly, she raised her head and pulled out her index finger to request a moment.
"Exc... Exc... excuse me, I'm... I'm here for the test results," she murmured as she continued breathing heavily.
The man at the gate, who had been waiting for her to recover so she could speak, walked up to her with a fresh bottle of water.
"Here. If you go in now, you won't be so late," he said, handing her the can of water.
"Thanks!" She grabbed the can and yanked it open, taking in large gulps of water as she slowly recovered from the tiredness.
After she was done, she stood upright with a smile on her face.
"Thank you for your help," she said as she went through the large gates.
Once she stepped through the gates, her eyes met the bustling guild building.
The back of the building was adorned with Lira's name at the top, with a yellow neon design that stood out. The building was painted with yellow and blue oil paint, making it sleek, with two large bronze doors that looked hard to bust open.
The environment wasn't so big, but it was well-kept, with each bush trimmed to maintain hygiene.
'It looks better than I remember.' She smiled as she admired it.
As soon as she was done, she ran straight for the door through the concrete pavement.
'I hope I'm not late!'
She opened the door in haste. Luckily, it wasn't locked, because usually, they locked the backdoor since it was for private use only. Only members of the guild were allowed to go through.
The guild was bustling with people moving up and down as usual, each busy with his or her own share of work while others looked for new tasks to complete.
It was a large room with two distinct setups. One was for the guild receptionist, and the other was for the guild master.
Each of the walls in the room was pasted with clipboards holding tasks that needed completion, and each was filled with guild members, each looking for a task they could complete.
At the far end of the room, some people were gathered together, and a single man was handing out a particular document to each of them as the line shortened.
She walked over to the other end of the room, tapping on one of the people that occupied the line on the shoulder.
"Yeah?" they answered as they turned to Lily.
It turned out to be a female standing there. She was slightly taller than Lily with a muscular physique. Her jawline looked tight, and she looked intimidating, but Lily went straight to the point.
"Excuse me, is this the line to collect the results?"
"Yeah, it is," she answered, moving forward to occupy the space in front of her.
"Thanks!" Lily answered, smiling afterwards.
'I'm glad I wasn't late! I would have never forgiven myself if I missed this.'
The line was slowly moving forward, with each person collecting their own document as they moved forward.
Soon, the girl in front of her was next. She moved forward after the person right in front of her left.
"Are you Lucy Lucía?" the man asked, staring at the document before raising his head to her.
She couldn't see his full body from where she stood behind the girl, but she could see his face. His eyes were brown and full, his glasses complementing his curved jawline. His lips were light pink and slim, making his moustache stand out.
"Yes, I am, sir," the girl answered, setting her hand in front of him to collect her document.
"Well, I must say you did quite well both theoretically and physically. Here are your results. Welcome to Lira's guild," he said, handing out the document to her.
The girl couldn't contain her excitement, but she remained composed as she collected the results from him, staring at them with a smile as she walked out.
Next was Lily, who walked up with a slight expression of hope on her face.
"Are you Lily Padstow?" he asked, staring at the document before raising his head to look at her.
"Yes, I am, sir," she answered with a slight raise in the pitch of her vocals.
'Please! Please, please!!!'
"Here you go," he said, handing her the document without saying anything afterwards.
'Well, that was unusual.'
She took the document and walked out of the line, so she wouldn't obstruct the others behind her.
After glancing around to make sure there weren't any watchful eyes, she opened the document to something she wasn't expecting.
