"I'm staying," she confirmed. "But we do this my way. No unnecessary violence. No collateral damage. We find the truth and we expose it, but we don't become the monsters we're fighting."
"Agreed," Matteo said immediately. "Rafa?"
"Your called, boss," he said to Matteo.
"It's not my call anymore," Matteo replied, looking at Isabella. "It's ours."
The word stayed in the air between them, heavy with implication.
"So," Isabella said, trying to ignore the way her heart skipped at his words. "What's our first move?"
"We contact Mrs. Russo," Matteo said. "Set up a meeting."
"And the watchers outside?" Rafael asked.
"Let them watch," Isabella said with a smile that was more predatory than friendly. "We will give them quite a show."
But as they began to plan their next moves, none of them noticed the small listening device that had been placed under the windowsill.
