Chapter 492: The Unhinged Psycho Memory-Seeker! The Entire Net is Searching for Mr. Reca!
Little Gui stared at the screen, completely stunned.
She never expected words like that to come out of Profnana's mouth!
Hadn't Rappa's homeland been destroyed by Dr. Primitive, setting her on the Path of the Hunt in the first place?
What did he mean by "failed product"?
Could it be that Rappa's homeland, City of Shinobi, wasn't what she claimed it was?
Countless questions surged into Little Gui's mind.
Yet, in the face of Profnana's words, Rappa merely sneered with cold defiance, her expression steeped in sheer disdain and resolute determination!
"Your conspiracy ends here," Dan Heng said calmly.
"Oh? Do you know why I allowed you all to cause such a ruckus on campus and even guided you here step by step?"
Profnana remained unruffled, continuing with an easy confidence, "Paperfold University is merely a petri dish. It would be no loss to discard it. But if it can catch all the vermin in the laboratory in one fell swoop… then it has served its purpose."
"Banana-nana-na… Time's up. Class is dismissed."
...
At the Paperfold University scene, many players burst out laughing right then and there!
"Profnana is still acting so tough!"
"Hahaha, he made himself sound like some high-and-mighty mastermind, but he still got skewered by our Stellaron trash-diver!"
"Great speech. It'd be even better if he wasn't lying on the floor surrounded by empty SoulGlad bottles right now."
"He's genuinely hilarious!"
"Has Professor Primon considered joining the Elation?"
In the crowd, Mr. Reca, disguised as an ordinary player, offered a faint smile.
He muttered to himself, "Trash-talking and pre-battle taunts are essential prerequisites for dramatic tension…"
"For a villain, Profnana has performed exceptionally well."
"Next, there's bound to be a thrilling climax!"
As he spoke, a spark of pure excitement flared in his eyes. He couldn't wait to see the confrontation that followed!
Sure enough!
After Profnana finished speaking, Rappa's face darkened completely. She gritted her teeth, pushed past the brink of endurance!
In the next instant, Rappa raised her hand!
Gleaming with cold light, a shuriken whistled through the air toward Profnana in a flash!
The razor-sharp blade pierced straight through his chest. The immense force drove him backward until—
BANG!
He slammed into the mural on the wall before finally stopping!
A zero-turn startup attack, typical of The Hunt!
The watching players didn't even have time to send barrage comments!
Immediately after, Slumbernana Monkeys leaped down from the walls, scurrying frantically across the office like panicked rats!
Rappa lunged forward, trying to seize the fleeing Professor.
Just as she was about to grab him, the screen suddenly dimmed.
Everything seemed to freeze, as if branded onto a strip of vintage film.
All motion ground to a halt.
Only Profnana retained his vibrant colors—he was exempt from this frozen instant.
"CUT!"
Mr. Reca clapped his clapperboard.
Profnana hurriedly scrambled out. In the hallway outside, a portal woven from memoria opened, and the small monkey vanished into it.
Mr. Reca watched the scene in rapture, involuntarily applauding.
"Brilliant… absolutely magnificent…"
Meanwhile, Rappa, Stelle, and Dan Heng were trapped inside the filmstrip, segmented into individual frames.
Mr. Reca's voice grew increasingly manic.
"Such a marvelous film… It would be far too tragic if the curtain fell right now."
Looking every bit the obsessed fanatic, he gazed at the filmstrip in his hands with drunken ecstasy. His pupils dilated, glowing with a frenzied light, and a grin stretched almost from ear to ear!
"Alright, actors, get ready for a scene change!"
Mr. Reca fell to his knees on the ground, seemingly turned to jelly by the sheer ecstasy of these breathtaking scenes. He looked as though he wanted to crawl along the floor in manic delight, caressing his hair and face, practically on the verge of ascending to heaven!
...
"He's totally insane!"
"What an Elation-coded Memokeeper!"
"Is Mr. Reca in cahoots with Dr. Primitive?"
"Reca trapped the protagonists and let the mastermind escape, but he also relocated our team."
"His ability is way too cracked! Controlling time and space?"
"Well, they're in a dream. Memokeepers have crazy high authority in dreams—Black Swan can even travel through images and billboards."
"A clutch rescue, but for the villain!"
"I finally get why he loves making movies so much. Film is a form of memory, and using cinema to record them is honestly poetic."
"I'm a Memokeeper myself, and this guy is a total lunatic!"
...
At the Paperfold University scene, seeing Mr. Reca let the villain go with such a look of pure intoxication, many players instantly grew annoyed.
They started roasting him: "Old Reca! What the hell are you doing?!"
"I finally trusted you for once, and you let me down this hard!"
"Siding with Dr. Primitive? You're a disgrace to the Garden of Recollection!"
"He's an absolute scumbag!"
"Did he always shoot his past works like this? Aiding the bad guys without any sense of right and wrong?"
"I'm going to review-bomb every single movie Mr. Reca ever made!"
In the crowd, Mr. Reca's eye twitched.
Cursing me to my face?
And dismissing all my works?
I'm furious!
Yet… I must keep smiling…
You vulgar audience members simply don't understand.
I definitely have a reason for doing what I did!
The final cinematic result will undoubtedly leave you marveling from the bottom of your hearts!
There's bound to be another twist in the story ahead!
...
The scene shifted.
Mr. Reca strolled down the campus pathway, brimming with ambition.
Ahead, Profnana, now transformed into a small monkey, blocked his path.
"What are you doing, Memokeeper?" the monkey demanded.
"My dear producer, all of your requirements have been met. As agreed, please lift this thoroughly inartistic curse—the memetic virus—from me," Mr. Reca replied.
"Requirements? No, no, no, Mr. Reca. Only when you hand over those unbananable, stubborn monkeys can we say you've fulfilled your end of the bargain."
Mr. Reca's eyes narrowed slightly. "That's not right. I went through great lengths to smuggle you into the academy, disrupted The Family's surveillance, and dealt with the Ranger who caused you the biggest headache. And now you want me to surrender the rights to my actors?"
"They are rare, phenomenal actors with countless stories waiting to be unearthed. I cannot simply let their roles wrap up like this."
Though shrunken down, Profnana's arrogance had only magnified!
He sneered coldly, "Mr. Reca, I'm not negotiating with you. There is no need for me to negotiate with a captive."
"In less than three system hours, you will turn into a Slumbernana Monkey just like those students. If you don't want your directing career to end right here, hand them over obediently."
"NG—I refuse! Professor, do you know why I fell into your hands in the first place?"
Profnana let out a chilling laugh. "Tracking down Dr. Primitive's whereabouts proves you have some skill. But sneaking after him and assuming you wouldn't be noticed? Isn't that a touch too arrogant?"
"Even by the standards of laboratory test subjects, you are far from qualified, 'Great Director.'"
...
"Dr. Primitive!?"
"Mr. Reca is cracked! Even the Galaxy Rangers couldn't find Dr. Primitive, yet he managed to track him down?"
"So he caught the memetic virus precisely because he found him."
"For a memetic entity like a Memokeeper, a memetic virus is completely fatal. It's impressive Mr. Reca has held out this long."
"This guy is a pure aesthetic purist. Didn't you hear him earlier? He doesn't even care if he dies, so long as he gets to shoot a masterpiece."
"Does anyone know where Mr. Reca is? I just want to have a little chat with him."
"I want to know where he is too—just to send him some 'local specialties.'"
"First off, I'm not a Galaxy Ranger; I'm a loyal fan of Mr. Reca. Secondly, can someone tell me where Mr. Reca is? I can help him take out a mortal enemy!"
...
