Seraphina's POV
For some reason, from his tone and his words, it sounded like... like Blake didn't actually like Lydia that much? Or was I imagining it? No.... That couldn't be right. She was his first mate. His first love.
How could he not like her?
I waited, expecting him to add something nice. Beautiful, sweet, kind—something positive to balance out the negative things he'd said.
But he just sat there, silent. I pursed my lips, confused. "So, how did you two fall in love?"
Blake looked at me and grinned—a very wolfish, very telling grin.
"I didn't."
I froze. "W-what?"
"Blake never loved Lydia," he said, shrugging, as if we were discussing what he ate for dinner last night.
My mouth fell open. "But... but she was your mate!"
"She was Adrian's mate," Blake corrected. "Not Blake's. Blake never accepted her as a mate."
"I don't understand," I said, my head spinning. "Whether it's Adrian or you, does that make any difference? Isn't his mate also your mate? The mate bond—"
