The more I thought about it, the more curious and desperate I became for answers. Since I was old enough to understand anything, I'd only known one thing: everyone hated my father.
And by extension, they hated me.
When I'd tried to figure out why, the only answer I ever got was that I was the daughter of the king—the man everyone despised. That was it. No explanations. No details. Nothing.
I knew nothing about my background, my history, my family, my roots. No one had been willing to tell me anything. They'd just looked at me with disgust and hatred, as if my very existence was a crime.
The only information I had was vague and incomplete: my father had been a king, he was evil, he'd done terrible things.
But what things?
Why was he called evil?
What had he actually done?
I'd never gotten real answers. But now I had Blake, who knew the truth, someone who lived through that rebellion. He might finally be willing to tell me.
