Perfect! Daddy just handed me exactly what I needed. This money would cover Dr. Burke's fee for the fake ultrasound plus leave enough for a shopping spree at my favorite boutiques. I'd already spent a fortune on the doctored pregnancy test and bribing that nurse to manipulate the lab results when Morris demanded verification. But playing the distressed daughter always works with Daddy – throw a tantrum, shed some tears, and his wallet opens like magic.
I waited until my father's car disappeared down the driveway before heading out myself. Once settled in my car, I called the doctor Irina had recommended. That woman might be sleeping with my father, but she's proven quite useful. I've followed them to their little love nest several times – information I'm keeping in my back pocket for when I really need leverage. For now, she does whatever I want because Daddy keeps her bank account full.
