Chapter 154 - Crushed

Dark clouds blanketed the sky, rolling and churning like endless mountain ranges. Arcs of lightning snaked through the clouds, flashing with silent menace.

To reach the ground as quickly as possible—and to avoid being spotted by the creature below—Kyo Kusanagi's team used a high-altitude, low-opening parachute jump. They waited until the last possible moment before deploying their chutes.

This kind of jump was far more dangerous than a standard one, but martial artists had far greater control over their bodies than ordinary people. After a bit of training, it was easy for them.

Kyo landed lightly, almost soundlessly, tossing his parachute pack aside. The others touched down one after another, all within a small, controlled area.

"According to the drone photos from ten minutes ago," Kyo said, staring toward the nuclear power plant in the distance, "Godzilla should be at Reactor No. 3."

The once-white reactor building was already in ruins—ravaged by the tsunami, by hydrogen explosions, and now by the monster's rampage. Even what remained was charred black, the structure cracked and tilting, ready to collapse at any moment.

A flame of the Kusanagi clan's Sunfire flickered in Kyo's palm, radiating heat that could burn anything to ash. The power of the creature ahead was beyond anything simple.

"Let's move," Kyo said calmly. "Control your breathing. Godzilla may have already destroyed the reactor core. The radiation inside will be extreme. If you inhale too much of it, not even we can withstand it."

Though martial artists could use their qi to resist poisons and diseases—and even radiation to a degree—there were still limits.

Kyo led the way, his figure light and fast as he leapt forward, crossing more than ten meters in a single bound toward Reactor No. 3.

Halfway there, a strange thought crossed his mind. The radiation in the air wasn't nearly as strong as he'd expected. It was even weaker than outside.

Could it be—Godzilla had already devoured the reactor cores?

Suddenly, the air exploded. Something massive tore through the sky at a speed too fast for the naked eye.

Kyo's instincts screamed danger. Years of combat honed a reflex deeper than thought itself. He couldn't see the attacker clearly, but his mind had already locked onto it.

"Secret Art—Orochinagi!"

Facing this unknown threat, Kyo didn't hesitate.

A surge of crimson fire burst from his hands, blazing like a miniature sun. The flames roared across the ground, swallowing the oncoming figure in a storm of heat.

The air crackled violently. Even standing dozens of meters away, the others were forced to shield themselves with qi to block the searing blast.

At the rear, Iori Yagami's expression hardened. He's stronger than the last time we fought. That attack—Orochinagi—would have incinerated almost anyone here.

Then came a deafening boom.

A massive tail whipped through the fire and scattered it like dust. From within the fading blaze stepped a towering, reptilian figure—Norman Osborn.

His body had swollen to over ten meters tall, his muscles bulging under thick, armored scales. Kyo's strongest fire technique had left only a few black scorch marks on his hide, a few glowing embers clinging weakly before falling away as Norman shook himself.

Kyo's eyes widened. Even his iron discipline faltered.

What kind of monster is this?Even solid steel would have melted under that strike—yet this creature was unharmed.

Norman stomped down.

Boom!

The ground shuddered violently. Cracks split outward like a spider's web, the earth sinking under his weight.

"Watch out!" Kyo shouted.

A wave of killing intent exploded in his chest. He flared with crimson flame and hurled himself backward—

BOOM!

The creature's tail smashed down where he'd just stood, tearing the ground apart. The impact gouged a deep fissure into the earth, nearly throwing the others off their feet.

The martial artists scattered in alarm, trying to widen the distance.

"He's too strong," Kyo muttered, horror creeping into his voice. For the first time, he felt a thought he'd never allowed before—We can't win this.

"He's… actually this powerful?" Iori's hand trembled slightly, blue flames burning fiercely around his body.

"My psychic powers don't work on him," said Athena Asamiya, her tone trembling with dread. As a psychic mutant, her perception far exceeded any normal fighter's. "He's beyond us. Maybe… maybe the Americans were right."

A grotesque smile spread across Norman's mutated face."Heh… figured it out, did you? Which one of you should I eat first?"

His mood was foul. These intruders had arrived at the worst possible time—and now they'd become the perfect outlet for his rage.

He had devoured all the reactor cores within the Fukushima plant, but the surge of power hadn't lasted. His body had grown to twelve meters before stopping, and the excess radiation had condensed into uranium sacs within him instead of fueling further transformation.

His strength had hit a wall. To grow stronger, he needed to complete his Godzilla genes.

Norman's legs coiled like springs—then he launched himself forward like a missile, compressing the air into a milky shockwave.

"If that fire kid's too quick," he growled, "then I'll start with the others!"

"Move—! Master Todo!" Kyo shouted, one of the few able to barely track Norman's speed—but unable to stop him.

"Haou Shoukouken!"

Ryo Sakazaki, standing beside Ryuhaku Todo, roared and gathered all his qi into his palms, firing a powerful energy wave forward.

BOOM!

The blast hit dead-on—but Norman didn't even slow down. The energy exploded harmlessly across his scales.

Norman's jaws opened wide—and in a single motion, he swallowed Todo whole, tearing up a chunk of earth with him.

Ryo froze, still frozen mid-stance from his last attack. For a brief instant, he saw it all clearly: his most powerful strike bursting like a soap bubble against those monstrous scales.

As heir to Kyokugen-ryu Karate, he'd never known such crushing helplessness—or fear.

"Run…" he whispered hoarsely. "Everyone… run! We've been tricked… This isn't something we can fight!"
