Chapter 2 - Chapter Two:Down The Rabbit Hole

*Athena's POV*

The moment we left the bar room, I knew I sensed something following us, but the big buffon was too busy trying to have one last fun. Now realizing it was Thane, that bastard that stood me up after I gave him my trust.

I placed my gun firmly against the nape of his neck. I didn't believe seeing him would affect my emotions so much. My eyes reddened and my fangs crawled out involuntarily. I breathed in rythm trying to calm myself down.

I have never loved anyone as much as I'd loved him and yet I have never hated anymore as much as I hated him now. "What are you doing here?" I demanded trying to sound as emotionally blank as possible.

"I suppose I could ask you the same questions but considering you are a snake I didn't expect anything less." He said with a sharp tone. I could detect from his voice, he held no fear for the musket pointed at the nape of his neck. He knew even if I wanted to I couldn't shoot him. Even though he'd broken my heart into a thousand pieces there is still a part of me that wanted to be with him.

"I am a snake?" I chuckled. "That's a lot coming from a lying hollow husk," I shook my head.

He paused and turned around, as Drago began to crawl towards the opened rock. "How dare you call me a liar?" He said angrily. "I gave you everything that one could give and you left me. When did I ever lie to you?"

I glanced at him a little confused. "I left you?" I blurted, but before I could say another word, the door to the cave shook and began to slide down. Drago had already crawled inside at the moment.

I withdrew my musket and rushed toward the closing rock. Thane moved simultaneously and he slid with an insane momentum, passing through the door into the darkness. I followed, rolling in the dirt. This large dress would never allow me to slide like he did.

Just as I was about to roll through the door, I realized too late that, by the time I would reach there, I would be crushed by the concrete door. I was almost at the door, mentally preparing for a painful death, when a furry hand struck out, holding the concrete in place for just one more second, allowing me to pass through.

The door shut behind us in a loud echo. "Thank you," I muttered with a side eye. as I watched Thane shift back into his human form. He'd used his wolven strength to help me delay the sliding rock.

"I don't need your appreciation," he said with a disgruntled voice.

I humphed. "I have good manners, that's all." I retorted.

I glanced around the area, to realize we were in a narrow passage. Drago wasn't far from us. He was out of breath now as the poison seemed to have started to eat up his innards. There were very few things that could kill a werewolf and mercury was the deadliest of them.

Thane might be an asshole but he was meticulous at what he does. I glanced at him, remembering back when I met him. I was a young vampire being hunted by humans with touches and he was no more than a beggar on the streets, yet he risked his life to save me. Even though our species were worst enemies with each other.

He said the same thing back then. "I don't need your appreciation!" I exhaled, shaking my head. All those were merely memories now. I had a task to focus on and he was ruining it.

"I guess there is no going back now," he said, pointing the sword at me. "I think we have to fight each other now, don't we?"

I glanced at him. "What do you mean. I am just going to shoot you," I said, flipping my musket, so that he could see it was cocked. This musket was one of the few automatic ones capable of shooting up to four rounds before I need to refil it.

"You think I am afraid of your bullets?" He demanded.

I glanced at him. "Do you think I am scared of your sword?" I bared my fangs at him.

He gazed at me with disdain and asked. "How could you fall so low?" He demanded from me.

His eyes gazed at me with a different posture sfor the first time… pity. "Fall so low? How?"

"You would kill thousands just to further yout own cause, join that fool because of a wish from a yokai?" He demanded.

I ea4s taken aback, what did this man think I am? "Are you stupid?" I blurted. "I am trying to stop the ritual and Drago was my way in. I opened an hidden space in my blouse, revealing multiple dynamite attachments. "I am here to blow this place up to next Sunday, and you effing ruined my plan."

He paused. "You are not with him?" He demanded.

"With that glutton?" I shook my head. "I have taste." I glanced at him in annoyance. He didn't really think I was actually in love with that… I glanced sideways seeing the clump of fat choking on his own breath a few distance away. "I am not with him, and if I were it isn't your goddamned concern." If he cared about who I am with why the hell did he leave me then?

"You are married." He lowered his eyes, gazing at me suspiciously.

"You are an idiot," I shook my head. "Do what you want to do, just don't cross my path anymore." I said angrily, cursing under my breath. I have forgotten how clueless he was about most things. He just had a gigantic head on his shoulders, there Isn't any thinking brain in there.

As I began to walk away he stopped me. "Why did you leave me?" He demanded. "Really, if I am to die today. I want to know."

I glanced back in confusion. "What are you talking about? You left me!"
