Under Junya's lead, the Detective Boys searched all the places his brother usually frequented, but found nothing. A group of kids naturally didn't have much stamina, and after so much activity, they were all exhausted.
Yu leaned against the railing and shook his head. "Searching like this is like looking for a needle in a haystack. There are too few clues. Maybe his brother was kidnapped right after he left, and didn't go anywhere at all."
Conan wiped the sweat from his face. "Yes, too few clues."
Ayumi suggested, "Let's go to the convenience store? I'm so thirsty!"
Everyone nodded and followed her in.
While everyone was still choosing what they wanted, Yu noticed that Conan's expression was a bit off, so he asked curiously, "What's wrong? Is there nothing you want here?"
Conan heard Yu's question and pointed to a man who was checking out at the cashier, saying, "He only bought a pack of cigarettes with a thousand-yen bill, and there's a vending machine outside, yet he's still queuing... Wait!" Conan seemed to have thought of something. He ran to the cashier's counter and said innocently, "Big sister, can I see that uncle's money just now?"
Because Conan was a cute boy, the sales clerk easily took out the bill. Conan examined it carefully. "Just as I thought! Big sister, you'd better call the police. This bill is counterfeit!"
"Yu, let's go!!!" He then ran out. Seeing Conan run out, the Detective Boys and Haibara followed.
"How is it? Did you find anything?" Yu asked while running.
"That man used counterfeit money, and it's very new!" Conan explained. "So I guess there might be some clues?"
"But what does that have to do with my brother?" Junya asked, puzzled.
"Natsume Soseki..." Haibara reminded.
"Oh, right, the person on the thousand-yen bill is Natsume Soseki!" Yu understood.
"So I suspect Junya's brother was kidnapped to make counterfeit money!" Conan said.
"Then let's follow that man, using my specially made signal emitter!" Yu said, taking out a small signal emitter. "I'll go first and stick this on him, then we'll track him using this! You go trick the kids into going back, and leave Haibara behind. I think her observational skills are very good. She might be able to help us well. Don't worry! I'll protect her." Seeing Conan hesitate, Yu added a last sentence.
"Okay." Conan nodded. So Yu chased after that guy. With Yu's strength, he easily placed the signal emitter on the suspicious man. This was made by Yu using Batman's energy technology, guaranteed to last a week or two, much longer than anything Professor Agasa made.
When Yu returned, only Conan and Haibara were left. He really didn't know how Conan managed to persuade Genta and the others to go back. Yu opened his phone. "Let's go!"
"Yu, why are you bringing her?" Conan whispered into Yu's ear.
"I'll tell you after this incident is over. There might be a huge secret involved!" Yu just wouldn't tell Conan what was going on.
Conan looked back at Haibara Ai, who was following him, then looked at Yu. He still didn't understand why Yu wanted to keep Haibara.
"Is this the place?" Yu found a building using the signal emitter. "They're really bold, putting their base next to a police station."
"What's impossible about that? The so-called most dangerous place is the safest place. Right next to a police station is a blind spot in human thinking. How could anyone print counterfeit money next to a police station?" Conan pushed up his glasses, saying confidently.
"Let's go!" Pulling Conan, who was trying to look cool, Yu led them upstairs. After quietly taking Conan and Haibara Ai to the second floor, Yu found someone guarding the door. So Yu walked behind him and knocked him out with one punch.
Then, under Conan's and Haibara's shocked gazes, Yu rushed into the room. They only heard screams. Not long after, Yu dragged out the black-clad woman, covering her eyes with a cloth. "Alright, now we can interrogate her..." Yu then woke up the black-clad woman he had knocked out. "If you don't want something we don't want to see to happen, you'd better not mess around!"
The black-clad woman nodded, indicating that she understood Yu's words.
Yu continued, "Regarding the organization behind you, tell us everything you know."
"Organization?" The black-clad woman froze. "What do you mean?"
"Hmph! Don't play dumb with me. You should have a codename too, like Gin or Vodka!" Conan's tone was a bit impatient. He hadn't expected her to still try to conceal things in this situation.
"What Gin and Vodka? I've been sober for many years..." The black-clad woman looked confused.
Yu shook his head and knocked out the questioning woman again. "It seems she knows nothing. She's just an ordinary counterfeit money dealer. When you mentioned Gin and Vodka just now, the expression on her face didn't seem faked."
"What!?" Conan plopped down onto the ground. "It seems we've been busy for nothing again!"
"Not necessarily. After I've dealt with things here, Miss Haibara, let's talk about your business." Yu said mysteriously.
"Haibara?" Only then did Conan remember Haibara Ai beside him.
Yu dealt with the scene, then left with Conan and Haibara Ai.
"Yu? Isn't this road to our house?" Conan found it very strange that Yu led them down this road.
Yu looked at Conan with an idiotic gaze. "Our classmate Haibara Ai said today that her house is at 2-22 Beika Town!"
