Chapter 5 - Lance Vs Diantha

Hello everyone, good morning.

I hope you really have a good time and take the opportunity to read this reaction story.

Anything that appears does not belong to me...

(..........)

The scene returned to Shūto Stadium . Where Lance and Diantha were already in their positions.

— Contestants Lance and Diantha take the field! Who will face contestant Lionel in the semifinals?

The Kanto Region looked with respect and admiration towards their Champion, noting that he would participate in the second match of the first round against another amazing Champion.

The same thing happened in Kalos, hoping their Champion could fight with all his might and defeat the Champion of two united Regions: Kanto and Johto.

The others just watched the spectacle, a Dragon trainer would fight with a Fairy trainer where both already had great power.

Diantha looked interested at the fight, now wanting to see his strength advance in the future.

The same thing happened to Lance, having the expectations of his colleagues in addition to Mr. Goodshow.

—The time has come! Trainers of Kanto! Trainers of Johto! Witness my battle!

The words spoken by Lance were seen and heard by coaches from those Regions... Especially a quartet who were expectant.

—And Diantha! As a dragon user, may this battle be one my dragon army can be proud of!

The crowd marveled and became excited at the Dragon Champion's opening remarks, ready to watch the battle between these great opponents.

—You haven't lost your touch, have you?—Bruno said with a smile.

Lance just smiled amusedly, causing Lorelei to giggle slightly.

—Although it's true that either of them could face Lionel in the next round, the semifinals. And therefore, allow the six Pokémon—Agatha whispered.

However, she was overheard by Mr. Goodshow who thankfully remained silent so as not to spoil the mood.

...

Richie looked surprised at his appearance next to a Pikachu. Would he catch it in the not too distant future?

Still, he quite enjoyed appearing at this event, even if it was just a cameo... Being reassured that he was on the right path kept him motivated.

...

Jimmy, Jackson and Marina looked on in amazement at his appearance watching the fight.

Until emotion motivated them, admiring the Pokémon that were already doing by their side.

—You said it! What connects us are Pokémon! And for this battle! I'm here too, with the dreams and highest expectations of Kalos trainers!

The words spoken by Diantha were seen and heard by trainers in that Region... Especially a very striking quartet.

—Lance ! I can't wait to see how shiny you and your Pokémon will be!

— Then let's begin!

The Kalos Region was also excited and enthusiastic at the words of their Champion, truly happy to have her as the most powerful trainer in their Region... Expecting great things in their battle.

Diantha smiled happily knowing that she had the support of her people, now being motivated to beat Lance and his feared Dragon army to demonstrate her will and strength to everyone.

...

Somewhere in Hoenn. A green-haired boy looked surprised at her appearance, seeming very happy to see the Kalos Champion on television.

Something filled him with doubt. He was originally from Hoenn, so why was he giving unconditional support to Kalos? Although it wasn't that bad, he was confused.

...

The trio of friends who appeared on the screen were also surprised to see the young green-haired man with them.

Something that moved them to see that they supported their Champion, so they would strive to do the same now even though it was the future.

The stadium screen showed both images of the Champions along with the 3 available spaces for the chosen Pokémon.

Dan appeared in the arena to announce the battle.

—Three Pokémon will be used for this round. Unlimited switches.

The winner is the one who successfully faints all three of their opponent's Pokémon.

Additionally, a single use of one of the following mechanics is allowed: Gigantamax, Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.

Everyone understood that the rules would be the same until the semi-final, and if not, it could be in the final.

After all, they just wanted to watch the fight.

—All right, now, send your first Pokémon onto the field! 3, 2, 1, go!

—Here I go!

—Let's go!

The Pokeballs rose into the air and opened to reveal the Pokémon.

An orange flying dragon landed on the ground.

— Let's go, it's started! Contestant Lance sends out Dragonite!

The people of Kanto and Johto looked excitedly at Lance's Dragonite, a Pokémon too strong and for the Champion... Much more.

Bruno, Lorelei, and Agatha smiled in their own way at the sight of that Dragonite. Lance's strongest Pokémon at the moment.

—So Dragonite first. You're really confident—Agatha said with amusement.

—I don't think so, Lance must have other surprise cards—Bruno said, trusting his leader and partner.

—Still, sending Dragonite to first could be very risky—Lorelei said.

Lance agreed, what was his future counterpart up to?

...

Ash admired the Champion's flying dragon Pokémon, making the others smile.

—That's great. Right, Pikachu?

—Pika Pi.

—That's Dragonite, a Pokémon native to Kanto. Only caught by true veterans—Brock said proudly.

—And Lance has it in his arsenal, he is clearly the Champion of our Region—Misty said, looking at the Pokémon in surprise.

An ice rock appeared on the other side.

— On the other hand, Diantha sends Aurorus!

The people of Kalos looked closely at their Champion's first Pokémon, wanting to know exactly what its strength limit would be even if she had the type advantage in the fight.

Diantha looked at Aurorus with a smile, wanting to know exactly when he joined her team, and from what she could tell, he was truly exceptional.

—Let the battle begin!

—Light Screen !

—Hyper beam !

Pink screens appeared in front of Aurorus, Dragonite fired a yellow Hyper Beam that passed through those screens with great difficulty and barely hit Aurorus.

— Light Screen reduces Hyper Beam damage! Additionally, after casting Hyper Beam, you are immobilized for a short time!

Everyone watched the fight closely, knowing that Lance would be the loser due to his type disadvantage and having used Hyper Beam so suddenly.

It was really interesting for many people to see two great figures face off in a Pokémon fight.

Lionel was admiring the fight. He really hoped one of them would give him a great fight in the semifinals, since... Both champions were exceptional.

—Blizzard !

Aurorus released a blast of frozen air and damaging chunks of ice from his mouth, causing great damage to Dragonite who could barely stand.

— It's super effective!

—I expected nothing less.

—Good! You held up well!

Dragonite roared sharply, indicating his recovery.

— Dragonite can move!

Lance sighed in relief, for a moment an image came to mind where his Dragonite was defeated.

"Wow, you looked like you were having trouble there. You should be more careful next time," Agatha said, frowning.

—It is thanks to Dragonite's new strength that he managed to resist an ice-type attack—Lorelei said, focusing her attention on Diantha's Pokémon.

"You're being very careless, I wouldn't be surprised if you lose the battle," Bruno said scoldingly.

...

Diantha looked happily at the standing Dragonite, truly showing that he was very powerful to withstand an ice attack like that.

She'd have a tough fight against Lance, and that excited her. Because she was the most powerful trainer in Kalos, there weren't many trainers of the same calibre who could match her head-to-head.

Sure, he occasionally battled with trainers from the Region, but they were instantly defeated. A real shame considering his potential.

—Body Slam !

Dragonite rose into the air and landed flat, hitting Aurorus who was sent flying until she landed near her trainer.

— This was also super effective!

—¡Aurorus, resist!

Aurorus got up as best he could, slowly regaining his composure.

—He's counterattacking very easily.

Diantha looked at the spectacle with new airs, facing a Dragonite was a real challenge.

As with Lionel, Diantha was realizing that Lance deserved to have both the titles of Champion of Kanto and Johto.

...

Everyone celebrated the blow given, as it was clear that Aurorus had received more damage than Dragonite in the attacks.

—What a good counterattack—Lorelei said smiling.

—This isn't over yet, I'm not going to celebrate before it's time—Lance said.

—One more time! Body Slam !

Dragonite rose into the air and prepared to fall openly.

—Reflect!

A multi-colored mirror was placed in front of Aurorus, further strengthening the defense alongside the Light Screens.

Dragonite crashed as hard as it could, sending Aurorus back a few meters.

— Aurorus survived thanks to Reflection!

Many looked at the Kalos Champion's strategy in confusion. Why would she be strengthening her Pokémon's defenses? Knowing that those techniques would eventually wear thin, in addition to being weakened by Dragonite's attacks.

—She wants to pressure you, Diantha has the advantage again—Lorelei said.

—No, I assume she had it from the beginning—Agatha said.

—Too soon to say that, Lance isn't going to give up here—Bruno said, clenching his fists.

Lance nodded at those words, knowing his future self would come out of that.

—Dragonite! Twister !

—Avalanche !

Both Pokémon prepared their respective attacks.

—If you underestimate me , you'll get a big scare! Try my well-trained Dragon moves!

Dragonite released Cyclone and Aurorus released Rock Round, though both Pokémon ultimately received the moves.

Aurorus was the most damaged due to the cyclone overcoming the defenses put in place.

—Your role is over, Aurorus!

Finally, Aurorus fell defeated. Dan went over to check on her.

—Aurorus can't continue! The first victory goes to Lance! Dragonite's power is to be feared!

All of Kanto erupted with excitement as they watched their Champion triumph in the first part of the fight, knowing that he wouldn't back down in any way.

Kalos didn't dare to be discouraged, supporting their strongest trainer with all their might... If Alan didn't manage to stay in the tournament, then Diantha would and should manage to do so.

—Okay, that was really amazing for Lance.

Diantha was not discouraged either, she only motivated her future self to fight harder.

—That Dragonite you have will be a tough obstacle, but it's about to fall.

...

—It was to be expected, Lance doesn't fall to Pokémon with type advantages so easily—Bruno said, trusting Lance.

—Yes, now we see that his Dragonite became stronger than before—Agatha said.

Lance wouldn't disagree; he was clearly watching his future self outperform his current self. Landing a powerful move against a strong defense and defeating the Pokémon wasn't easy.

He would strive to match his power to that of the future for his own sake, truly hoping to win.

The fatigued and damaged Dragonite regained its composure.

—Even if there's a wall, we just hit with more power.

Everyone nodded in understanding, knowing how powerful Lance was.

Now they had a question: How could Diantha recover from her first defeat?

—Come back, Aurorus...

 Thank you.

Saving and thanking the out-of-combat Aurorus, Diantha took out another Pokeball.

—Dragonite, come back.

Lance put away the Pokémon.

Now they looked on with interest at Lionel's decision. Would he switch Pokémon because of Dragonite's poor condition? Or did he simply want to try something different with the Champion's second Pokémon?

They were getting a little nervous, especially the coaches' fans.

—I'm counting on you, Gourgeist!

The Pumpkin Pokémon appeared on Diantha's part.

— Diantha's second Pokémon is Gourgeist! And the screen effects are still ongoing.

Not everyone agreed with such a Pokémon in battle, greatly underestimating the Kalos Champion by not really knowing her.

—Diantha is fighting with correct strategy and plans—Said Samuel Oak analyzing what was going on in the fight.

—Of course, thanks to that she could win the battle. The defeat of her Aurorus served well if that Kalos Pokémon is prepared enough as I think it is—Gary said seriously.

...

Tierno, Trevor and Shauna watched the battle unfold in fascination.

—Despite losing Aurorus, the Champion is doing really well—Tierno said in amazement.

—Champion Diantha has great power in her Pokémon but she doesn't really specialize in that. I've understood that she relies more on strategies and plans in battle, which makes her invincible alongside her Mega Gardevoir, which looks much better on my camera—Trevor said, taking a thoughtful pose.

Shauna looked at him out of the corner of her eye until at last, a drop of sweat formed on her face.

—Go, Gyarados!

Lance threw the Pokeball and a red wingless Flying Pokémon appeared in battle.

— Lance's second Pokémon is Gyarados!

—Gyarados! Let's jump over the wall!

The Shiny Pokémon roared in response to its trainer.

—¡¿SHINY?!

Many people shouted in sync around the world... There is no doubt that even Arceus could hear it even if it was just a small whisper.

The general scream was shocked when they saw the giant red Pokémon that was normally blue. I mean... When did Lance have a Shiny in his ranks?

Everyone was interested and excited about the irregular Shiny Pokémon Gyarados... Except for some trainers who had a phobia of the mythical water flying... An example would be the scared Misty.

An energetic Ash and an amazed Brock.

—Brock! What kind of Pokémon is that?!

—It's Shiny Gyarados, I'll explain what Shiny is in a moment.

...

The Elite Four, along with Mr. Goodshow, were stunned to see the mythical Shiny Pokémon.

—What the fuck?

-Language!

Those were Bruno and Agatha who broke the intense silence that formed.

—A Shiny for the future, you must be happy, right? —Lorelei said with a playful smile, keeping her amazement.

Lance didn't respond, taking the time to admire the reddish Pokémon. But then he asked, What would happen to the normal Gyarados he now had in his team of six?

Mr. Goodshow scratched his beard in interest, looking in amazement at the displayed Gyarados.

—¡Gourgeist! ¡Halloween!

Gourgeist gathered enough energy and began to release phantoms towards Gyarados, surrounding it with those ancient phenomena.

—It's a problematic move...

Now Lance would be under pressure once, everyone looked on hoping the Champion could easily get away.

—Aqua Tail !

Gyarados's tail surrounded itself with water and launched an attack. Gourgeist barely escaped with Light Screen and Reflection.

—What power... It would have been dangerous without Reflect.

Diantha agreed with her future doppelgänger. That attack had been truly brutal, so powerful it almost surpassed Reflection's limitations.

She really had to watch out for that Gyarados, that move could have taken out Gourgeist right there and left her in serious trouble with just one Pokémon.

...

—You really trained that Gyarados properly—Bruno said in surprise.

—Surprise after surprise, this Championship really has something to leave us speechless—Agatha said, somewhat distracted.

—Although it wouldn't be bad if that Gyarados learned a couple of ice moves. Don't you think so? —Lorelei said somewhat playfully.

Lance shrugged his shoulders, it wouldn't hurt to increase Gyarados' power with ice moves to give the opponents a surprise attack.

—Lightscreen will disappear soon. That moment will decide the match!

No one objected to Lance's comment.

That Gyarados really had a good fighting level, and if those extra defenses disappeared, then no one would stand a chance.

Or so they really believed.

—Gyarados! Dragon Pulse !

—Shadow Sneak !

Gyarados began to charge the move, a shadow summoned by Gourgeist approached from behind until it hit the reddish Pokémon's tail.

Forcing Gyarados to stop the Dragon Pulse he was preparing.

Or so it seemed...

— The first to hit is Vile Shadow! He takes massive damage due to the Halloween effect!

Gyarados fell to the ground foolishly, releasing the Dragon Pulse at the last moment.

- But!

The Light Screen disappeared completely, and Reflection barely managed to hold on. Gourgeist ended up taking the attack directly, taking massive damage.

The sudden impact created a cloud of smoke and dust.

—It 's a direct hit from the Dragon Pulse! Light Screen, it's finally gone!

Everyone watched the battle in amazement. Just as Gyarados was gaining the upper hand, it was completely overwhelmed by Gourgeist, and the Pumpkin Pokémon continued to fight despite taking that majestic attack directly.

But they also looked curiously at the Light Screen that finally disappeared, now with less defense from Diantha than it had before... How would she fix things?

Without a doubt, the fight changed emotions very quickly with the tension of one of the two Champions losing and gaining an advantage.

Plus, Gourgeist was holding up pretty well against the Colossal Shiny Gyarados's powerful attacks. Something they had to admit, given how impossible it sounded.

Diantha had really trained her Pokémon well, they should give her credit for that. It seemed like she'd trained hard for that moment.

—Is it still standing?

Lance looked somewhat surprised at the opposing Pokémon.

—Then! Ice Fang !

Gyarados's 4 fangs hardened in that powerful material.

Lorelei admired the ice move on that Gyarados, clapping with a big smile.

Lance smiled at the woman, seeing how important those things really were to her.

She realized it and ended up blushing in embarrassment, looking away...

—Phantom Force!

Gourgeist disappeared and appeared above Gyarados, just as it launched its attack.

—Dragon Pulse !

Gyarados charged the attack, and Gourgeist appeared next to her, striking her hard in the face. However, it didn't prevent her from receiving the attack in a wide strike, sending her stumbling back.

In the end, the blow seriously affected Gyarados, causing him to fall to the ground and Dan approached to check on him.

— Gyarados can't continue! This time Diantha takes the win!

Everyone looked surprised as Gyarados fell, it really seemed like it was going to continue the battle but in the end things turned out the other way around.

—Things are even now, I never imagined Gyarados would fall to a Gourgeist—Bruno said, perplexed.

"Diantha knows very well how to manage her movements. Her strategies make her superior to me," Lance admitted seriously.

—Calm down, Lance. We'll see what happens—Lorelei said.

...

Diantha looked pleased at the defeated Gyarados. For a moment she had doubted herself, but apparently things turned out differently.

In the end, strategy would be one of its main reasons for greatness.

...

—Now things are even. Only Lance has a Pokémon that's almost fainted—Misty said.

—And due to the circumstances, he will be forced to use it—Brock said.

Ash said nothing, he just watched the meeting expectantly.

Lance raised the Pokeball to save Gyarados.

—Good work, Gyarados.

He took out another Pokeball and threw it.

-Go! ¡Hydreigon!

The three-headed Pokémon was finally released, the Champion's third Pokémon.

— Lance's third Pokémon is Hydreigon!

—I also have a strategy for Hydreigon.

At this, Lance became more attentive and serious than before.

Everyone watched the fight in amazement, knowing that Lance already had the entire advantage falling on his shoulders.

Now the inhabitants of Kanto and Johto were worried that for Lance, it would be his last and first battle in that Championship because it really seemed like that.

—Well, there goes Hydreigon. The last Pokémon you could select—Agatha said.

—Diantha is really getting on your nerves. And I must say, mine too—Bruno said, a little annoyed now.

—That's because Lance got too confident against Gourgeist, now he's paying the consequences—Lorelei said.

Lance looked at the fight seriously... Everything indicated his defeat, if Gourgeist left his Hydreigon injured since the Champion would still have a healthy and rested Pokémon.

—¡Gourgeist! ¡Halloween!

Gourgeist did the same thing it did with Gyarados, turning Hydreigon into a Ghost type.

-I don't mind!

Some looked askance at Lance's actions...

Even some rookie coaches did it too...

For a Champion and still a two-Region Champion, Lance was being very reckless at this point.

And the truth is, an issue that was really irritating many others who were defeated by him or who long to obtain his Champion title.

—Dark Pulse !

The dark beam shot out, passing through Reflection with ease and hitting Gourgeist.

This time, the damage from the previous fight and the current one was taking its toll. It was now clear that Gourgeist was barely standing.

Something that made Lance smile and Diantha worry...

Then Reflection ended, fading away.

—That 's it for Reflection . Dark Pulse is super effective and scares Gourgeist!

Everyone knew from that moment on, the Champion's second Pokémon was finished.

She predicted it too, so she started to feel a little nervous since her next Pokémon would obviously be Gardevoir, and despite having the type advantage, she was hesitant about winning against two Pokémon even though Dragonite was already exhausted.

—Once again! Dark Pulse !

Gourgeist could do nothing but take the attack, being knocked out, and Dan came over to check.

—Gourgeist can't continue!

Lance took out the Pokeball from the defeated Gyarados inside, looking at it with a triumphant and grateful smile.

—We did it, Gyarados. This victory was only possible thanks to your battle.

The kind-hearted and respectable people looked at Lance's words happily... Now I understand the reason for his previous actions on his Pokémon against Gourgeist... Clearly comfortable now.

Having great self-esteem and confidence in your Pokémon companions was exemplary, a strong bond of friendship was truly fascinating, and there was nothing better than having them with your usual companions.

Diantha, beyond being under pressure from the tremendous disadvantage now, was happy and motivated looking at that, knowing that if Lance were to get a Mega Evolution... It would totally be with his Gyarados, and of course, he deserved it too.

On the other hand... There were those despicable people who believed that friendship with Pokémon was nonsense, they only existed to supplement the strength of the people who would become their trainers...

Clearly, those guys would have no future in this world, and that was crystal clear.

The screen showed Gourgeist and Aurorus's spaces empty, leaving the Champion with only one Pokémon.

— Now, contestant Diantha has been cornered!

Diantha raised the Pokeball, saving her fallen companion.

—Thank you, Gourgeist...

Back to the main topic. People were interested in the outcome of the fight; Diantha would be in real trouble here now.

"She really has her back against the wall," Gary said seriously.

—Exactly, that means he can no longer resort to strategy—Samuel Oak said thoughtfully.

Gary was amazed and interested in all this between battles with the top 8 Pokémon battle figures in the world...

But he wasn't really focused on the others, all his thoughts revolved around Ash who was present with the title of Alola Champion and it was something that never ceased to surprise him.

Ash was supposed to be a dunce who didn't even arrive early to his grandfather's lab to pick up a starter Pokémon from the Region, and was forced to carry a Pikachu that couldn't even compare to his Squirtle, who was stronger than ever...

Why was he a damn Champion? I expected to see that with his confrontation with the Hoenn Champion, he would demonstrate great power or do some very unusual things.

...

"She can't choose the strategy in battle anymore," Misty said.

—Yes, I assume her chances of victory have decreased quite a bit—Brock said, now doubting Diantha.

—Maybe his next Pokémon will be the strongest, right?—Ash said somewhat confused.

Brock and Misty thought about it... What would be the Champion's strongest Pokémon?

Storing and taking out another Pokeball, the Champion throws the ball into the sky.

—Let's shine! ¡Gardevoir!

The Champion's strongest Fairy Psychic Pokémon. Now standing there.

Lance put away Gyarados's Pokeball and looked at the opposing Pokémon with defiance.

—We were waiting for you, Gardevoir.

Many looked intrigued at the Gardevoir that should be the Champion's strongest Pokémon.

—A Gardevoir, it's a Fairy Psychic Pokémon—Lorelei read an information card.

—You have it complicated, remember that Dragons are weak against Fairies, remember? —Agatha said.

—Yes, considering how easily Gourgeist defeated your Gyarados when he added the ghost type with Halloween—Bruno said seriously.

—And that's not all. In any case, your Dragonite is still too tired to fight—Lorelei said seriously.

Lance nodded seriously and looked at the screen... Directly at his future counterpart.

Was this how it would all end? I hoped that despite the complications, he'd fight with everything he had.

—Let me show you my best performance! Mega Evolve !

The Keystone Diantha carried began to transmit Mega Energy into the Gardevoirite , which released its connecting energy...

The acquired Mega Power caused Gardevoir to be surrounded by an aura of different colors, beginning to take on a different form until it finally revealed itself...

Revealing Gardevoir's Mega Evolved form.

Many people were surprised because very few had imagined this result from the Champion's Gardevoir.

If that Kalos boy had a Mega Evolution, why wouldn't Diantha have one too?

Now they feared for Lance's defeat... A Gardevoir was very different from a Mega Gardevoir that boosted all of its battle stats.

Lance didn't even flinch from the worried glances his teammates gave him... He knew it.

If his future self didn't find a solution soon, then his journey through that Championship would end without him being able to stand in the way.

...

Sycamore looked interested at the Champion's Mega Evolution, admiring that square evolution of Gardevoir knowing that that power did not always appear in any normal battle.

Now he could watch as a Psychic Fairy Pokémon leveled up, though he still held out hope that one day he might get his own Mega Evolution. He couldn't wait to get that.

...

Diantha looked once again with hope at her Gardevoir, as well as happy to see her healthy as she always did... She liked so much to see her lifelong companion still standing.

And now, the two of them face colossal opponents that they had to defeat if they wanted to face Lionel in the semifinals.

—Shadow Ball !

The dark sphere was launched immediately.

—¡Tri attack !

The three power shots combined and collided with Shadow Ball, creating a smokescreen.

—A good offense is the best defense! Whoever strikes first wins!

Some agreed with Lance, others did not.

But no one said anything. They focused on continuing to watch and then giving their opinions.

—Dazzling Gleam !

Hydreigon charged with powerful energy and fired a tremendous beam of power.

—Psychic !

The wave of power easily destroyed the power-up blast, something that erased all confidence in Lance and made Diantha happy.

-That?!

—Moon Blast !

Mega Gardevoir recharged the sphere and then fired it at full power towards Hydreigon, who was trying to resist the attack with all his strength.

—That 's an intense Lunar Force! Can Hydreigon withstand it?!

The sphere grew larger until it finally exploded, leaving a defeated Hydreigon on the ground.

Dan came over to check it out a little.

—Hydreigon can't continue!

— Participant Lance has lost two Pokémon . It's truly a back-and-forth affair! The battle will be decided in the next match!

Lance raised the Pokeball to save Hydreigon.

— You fought well.

Everyone looked at the defeated Pokémon and the trainer with pity...

"Very well. I'm sure your triumph ends here," Bruno said with his arms crossed.

"Do you really believe that?" Lorelei said reproachfully.

—Possibly. How could the wounded Dragonite compete against a Mega Gardevoir?—Agatha said, letting out a sigh.

Lorelei fell silent and thought about it for a moment... She was right, then she looked at Lance somewhat worriedly...

The Dragon Champion looked seriously at that Mega Gardevoir... It was a serious problem.

...

Diantha looked somewhat tense at the encounter... She had a bad feeling about her that appeared when she defeated that Hydreigon.

—This isn't over yet.

—Let Dragonite take care of the rest. Go!

Lance throws the Pokeball and it reveals to Dragonite that he was ready to continue.

— The final match is Dragonite vs. Mega Gardevoir!

Everyone gave Diantha the victory and it was very understandable.

How could a wounded Dragonite possibly compete against a Mega Gardevoir? Which, by the way, was slightly damaged by the hail.

—This is the end for Lance—Paul said.

Reggie disagreed, having previously known how capable the Champions were when they were on the verge of defeat.

And then, everyone could notice something unprecedented.

—Gardevoir, you must not let your guard down until the very end.

—Dragonite! Let's show them our full power!

Dragonite let out a growl and then Lance returned it to the Pokeball.

—Go Dragonite!

Many looked at each other in confusion, not knowing what Lance was doing.

Had he gone mad? No...

Then they remembered what happened to Lionel's Rillaboom in the previous battle...

Lionel, who had been analyzing the battle all this time, was left blank by Lance's actions...

Could it be that...?

Lance extended his arm, revealing a Gigantamax wristband that began to release energy and fill the Pokeball with power...

—¡Gigantamax!

Lance throws the Pokeball into the sky where a storm broke out from the gigantic power.

— Participant Lance activated Gigantamax!

Dragonite began to grow until it reached an astonishing height, having only clouds and purple electricity around it.

—Dragonite's physical strength exceeds its limit due to Gigantamax!

—So you had a trick up your sleeve... But will that be enough to withstand Fairy moves?

All the people of Galar watched in shock as Giga Dragonite stood in the arena, challenging the power of Diantha's Mega Evolution.

The other Regions were also amazed to see the Gigantamax in Lance's hands, how could someone from Kanto have obtained the power of Galar?

Making it clear to the others that this Championship would have many internal surprises.

Lionel looked at the priceless Gigantax mode Pokémon with surprised gratitude, then smiled...

—I was already saying that someone else would have the power of Gigantamax... Well done Lance, you would be a formidable opponent if you beat that Gardevoir.

Charizard looked at that Dragonite with defiance, eager to face it if Lance overcame Diantha's challenge.

...

Lance looked surprised at his Dragonite in Gigantamax phase, his companions were the same way even Mr. Goodshow.

"Is that Dragonite?" Agatha said in surprise.

—Lance had an ace up his sleeve then—Bruno said in shock.

Lorelei just stood there in awe, looking at the Flying Dragon Pokémon in that powerful phase.

—How did I get the Gigantamax power?—Lance whispered in shock.

Then he thought maybe he'd traveled to Galar once for that power, but it seemed illogical. Maybe it was to meet World Champion Lionel?

...

Ash and Pikachu were shocked to see the tremendous Dragonite in a fight.

"Does the Champion of Kanto and Johto have Gigantamax?" Misty said after a gasp.

Brock didn't say a word. Focused on the qualities the Champions had demonstrated over this short time that they saw the CMP.

There were Mega Evolutions and Gigantamax... I just wanted to find out what the Z-moves would be, and also to see if future Ash would have enough experience to face all these trainers.

—MoonBlast!

Gardevoir began charging the same sphere as before.

—Max Hailstorm!

A storm appeared and chunks of ice fell, which were not very complicated for Lunar Force to destroy... Dragonite forced itself to resist the giant sphere without having problems.

—He endured it! He endured the Moon Force!

The field began to hail, slightly injuring Gardevoir and Dragonite.

—It 's started hailing in the field thanks to Max Frost! Gradually reduce both of their energy levels .

—A desperate strategy... Does that mean Dragonite has the strength to withstand the hail?

—That Dragonite really has a lot of resistance unlike Hydreigon, don't you think? —Bruno said with a smile.

—Well, Dragonite Gigantamax, I don't believe that Hydreigon wouldn't have survived if the same thing had happened—Agatha said, frowning.

—Come on, Lance. You can win with some effort—Lorelei whispered pleadingly.

Lance was a little confused, what strategy was his future doppelgänger trying to do?

...

Just like the Champion of Kanto and Johto, too many people were confused by not being able to figure out the goal he was trying to find.

Diantha was analyzing that, hoping to find an answer soon... Although she was already forming a small idea that was slowly growing bigger.

-Maybe...

...

Meanwhile, other people had already discovered or at least suspected Lance's goal.

-I understand now.

Ash and Misty looked at the rock gym leader with the yellow mouse.

"Understand what?" Ash asked, raising an eyebrow.

—Look closely and you will know.

—Take this! Max Strike !

Dragonite stomped, sending a damaging shockwave at Gardevoir.

—Shadow Ball !

—¡Max Wyrmwind!

The fired Shadow Ball was completely swallowed by the giant tornado.

— ¡wow, shadowball has been swallowed by Max Wyrmwind!

That's when Diantha realizes something... Making her trust.

—I've discovered... your plan...

At the exact moment, the most astute people were also able to discover Lance's plan to win the battle.

Even Lance himself could understand it when he saw how he ordered his Dragonite to defend itself instead of attacking the opponent.

And to their misfortune...

Diantha saw through his game, so his chances were very slim.

So now yes, the people gave victory to the Kalos Champion once again but this time...

Being really sure, goodbye Champion.

Dragonite begins to return to its original state, returning the weather to its normal state as well.

— This is as far as Gigantamax goes.

—Hyperbeam !

Dragonite fired the powerful shot, sealing his sentence.

—Checkmate! MoonBlast !

Gardevoir jumped, dodging the attack against her, charging the Moon Force sphere with great power and launching it with great power as well...

—¡Dragonite!

The weather hailed and Dragonite ended up falling to the ground...

Dina came over to check it out.

—Dragonite can't continue! Gardevoir wins! Therefore, the winner is contestant Diantha!

—Contestant Diantha advances to the semifinals!

The people of Kanto and Johto looked disheartened at their fallen Champion, taking defeat to the Champion.

Gary sighed in disappointment, he had really expected Lance to win from the beginning and that's why he had gotten too confident.

—It's a shame, though. Kanto isn't out of this World Championship yet.

Samuel Oak smiled slightly as he felt his grandson's confused gaze directed at him.

—Ash is from the Region, although he represents Alola. He represents us too.

Gary thought about it for a few minutes and looked at the screen, his grandfather had a bowl...

He was going to beat Ash up if he dared to lose to that effeminate Steve.

...

Ash looked at Lance somewhat sadly, it had been a good battle for him to end up losing.

—Well, we can say that Lance did strive for victory despite Diantha's circumstances—Brock said, scratching his cheek.

Misty nodded.

Lance approached his favorite Dragon.

-Thank you.

He stored the Pokémon in the Pokeball, then Diantha addresses him and the Champion gets up.

—I was at your mercy. It was a wonderful victory.

—I also really enjoyed our time together.

—I'm looking forward to seeing the battle between you and Lionel.

-Yeah.

Lance wasn't feeling bad, not at all. Now he's even more motivated to get the win this time.

His classmates were happy that he wasn't discouraged by that, especially Lorelei.

But then they got back on topic when they realized that Diantha would face Lionel in the semifinals.

So yes, they realized that Lionel would face the true representative of the Kalos Region.

...

Diantha, who had been happy not to see anything negative about Lance, returned to the world when she realized this with her confrontation with Lionel.

Very well, then he would have to give it his all. Because he remembered perfectly how he had so easily defeated that Mega Charizard X.

...

Cynthia was applauding at the end of the meeting.

Looking forward to facing Lance's Dragonite to test his full-power Garchomp against it.

...

Iris focused on admiring the strength of Lance's Dragons, wanting to be trained by him to gain power and become much better than the state of her future self.

After all, who else would help him train dragons?

...

Steve was analyzing everything very seriously right now.

If Lionel, Alan, Diantha and Lance had already fought.

Those young Champions would remain, Cynthia and him... Enough space for two more matches in the first round.

...

And Ash, of course... Being a bit tense.

The level of the Champions shown were totally different from what he imagined achieving, so he really wanted to see the strength of his future Pokémon to see if he had a chance.
