Chapter 4 - chapter 4: scattered memories

Suspension.

Two weeks away from the academy, on paper it looked like a great idea, heck it didn't feel like punishment at all.

I thought I was gonna laze around for two weeks but they kicked me out of the dorm too.

I was given a bland travel cloak, a pouch of what I assume is ramen money, and a vague warning about "bandits in the southern woods." Great. Peak school hospitality.

Now, I sat by a dying campfire under a sky full of unfamiliar stars, trying to warm the soles of my busted feet. Something was probably watching me from the trees. I was scared shitless but my expressions showed that i didn't care.

Bits and pieces started bubbling up from the void in my head — like crumbs from an old, broken hard drive.

Reynald K. Dawson. Age: 19.

Third-year student of Elandris Adventuring Academy.

Major: Combat Logistics & Strategy.

Minor: Getting in Trouble.

Apparently, I wasn't some random goon flung naked into a fantasy world. I belonged here.

Somehow, between dying mid-masturbation and waking up beside a dead goblin, I'd forgotten everything. But now?

Now it was dripping back.

I remembered….

I didn't have any friends here,a loner like my previous life.

I talked to some classmates from time to time, but that was it .

I liked to keep to myself other than that.

I wasn't bullied here either, i tried my best to stay as far as i can from the nobles.

And… Mom

Gods, I remembered her smile.

Not some majestic fantasy mom either. Just a tired woman who worked two jobs and still somehow packed my lunches with cute little meat buns shaped like goblins. She had sent me off to the academy with one final hug and a warning:

"Don't be a dumbass, Rey."

Guess I failed that part.

Crack!

A twig snapped nearby. I snapped out of my thoughts and grabbed the rusty dagger from my inventory. I was still Level 1, but I wasn't planning to die twice in the same week.

The bushes rustled… and a rabbit hopped out.

Followed by a second rabbit… with red glowing eyes.

And then a third one. Twice the size. Covered in scars.

[Wild Rabbeast Appeared!]

→ Level 7

→ Mood: Aggressively Hungry

→ Weak Spot: Unknown

"Oh for fuck's sake."

I stood up slowly, dagger shaking in my hand.

I looked toward the system screen hovering beside me.

"System, advice?"

[Try not to die.]

"…I hate you."

The Rabbeasts charged.

I flailed.

[Dodge Success! Panic Dodge Activated.]

Miraculously, I ducked the first bite and stabbed the rusty dagger into the second rabbit's butt. It screeched, bounced off, and ran in circles like a malfunctioning Roomba.

The third Rabbeast growled low. This one wasn't playing.

But something inside me clicked.

Memories. Training. Sparring duels at the academy.

I slid under the beast's leap, rolled awkwardly, and slashed upward—

Critical Hit!

[You have slain a Wild Rabbeast!]

[Level Up! You are now Level 2.]

I stood there, panting like a dog in heat.

Covered in dirt. Bleeding slightly. One of the rabbit corpses still twitched.

But for the first time since waking up naked next to a goblin corpse, I felt… alive.

The system chimed again:

[New Title Unlocked: Barely Competent]

[Class Selection Available — Open Menu?]

I grinned.

"Guess I'm not just a Loser anymore."

I took one last look at the rabbit battlefield, then sat back down by the fire.

It's rabbit dinner tonight,

Tomorrow, I'd choose my class.

Tonight, i will keep trying to remember crucial information.
