Chapter 9: Cultivating Chakra!
"Oh? Then what do you guys want?" Shiki asked. Truthfully, he didn't want to waste too much time with these kids. Improving his power was the top priority right now.
Otherwise, when the plot moved forward, he wouldn't even know how he died. Compared to getting caught up in childish games, he'd rather focus on his training.
After hearing Shiki's indifferent question, the kid facing him didn't know how to respond and stammered, "J-Just admit you're bottom of the barrel, and we'll let you go."
Now not only was the classroom full of people, many girls had also gathered outside, secretly watching just like they used to with Sasuke — only now there was one more person to admire: Shiki.
What they secretly hoped for now was that Shiki would show off his strength and knock those kids flat on the ground.
Facing those few students from another class, Shiki simply gave them a cold glance and said, "Yeah, I'm bottom of the barrel. Now then, you should scram, trash."
After saying that, Shiki directly pushed past the people blocking his way and walked out holding Naruto's hand.
The leading boy stood frozen on the spot, unable to utter a word for a long time.
Because from Shiki's eyes, he felt an icy chill run straight to his bones.
It was like a weakling holding a dagger to a stronger opponent's neck but hesitating to act — unable to bear the consequences or resist the pressure from the stronger side.
But why did he fear someone who was just a dead-last? Futarō Fujiwara wondered.
Although Shiki knew he didn't truly possess an expert's aura, he had indeed accompanied his mother through many dangerous places.
There were no shortages of life-or-death threats before him — people dying right in front of him. Even if he couldn't fully replicate that aura, at least he could mimic its essence. How could mere children withstand that?
Besides, these kids were all bluff and no bite. As long as he took control of the situation, they wouldn't dare make a move.
"Wow! Shiki-kun is so cool!"
"So amazing!"
"Yeah, exactly!"
Hearing the voices coming from behind, Shiki couldn't help feeling a bit helpless toward those little girls. When would these kids ever grow up a little?
"If those kids had actually attacked, the shame would've been mine. Looks like I really need to step up my training!"
Shiki was eager to get home because he wanted to try extracting chakra from his body for the first time.
Since Shiki's visit, Naruto's house looked noticeably tidier.
Shiki sat cross-legged, completely focused on merging his spiritual energy with his physical strength.
Only Naruto sat there scratching his head, bored as he said, "Hey hey, Shiki, this is so boring. How long are you planning to train?"
Shiki opened his eyes and looked at Naruto.
Shiki murmured to himself, "Hmm, I'll train a bit longer. After all, this is my first time sensing chakra."
Shiki closed his eyes again and resumed meditating.
Chakra was the combination of physical energy and spiritual energy. As a member of the Uzumaki clan, his physical energy was naturally far superior to that of his peers.
As for spiritual energy, since he was someone who reincarnated into this world, his spiritual energy wasn't lacking either.
However, in reality, the maturity of this body and its current level of physical development were still far from adequate. So Shiki didn't feel his chakra increasing rapidly.
On this day though, Shiki did sense some chakra stirring within his body.
"This sensation of power flowing through my hands... feels amazing!" Shiki gathered chakra into his palm and threw a powerful punch.
The punch actually carried a faint crackling sound through the air. Shiki could clearly sense this strike had at least thirty percent more force than usual.
But since he didn't know any ninjutsu techniques, he couldn't accurately measure how much chakra he actually had inside him.
Actually, cultivating chakra couldn't be done merely through meditation. Without both physical and spiritual energy, no matter what you did, you couldn't extract chakra at all.
Take Lee for example — a taijutsu specialist. He could endlessly train his body to increase his chakra reserves.
Then there's Yakumo Kurama, who was born with a weak physique. He could instead improve by strengthening his mental capacity.
What Shiki was currently doing was simply combining existing physical and spiritual energies within his body to create chakra.
It was similar to how Naruto synthesized Sage chakra in the manga. But Sage chakra required not just physical and spiritual energy, but also natural energy.
When Shiki opened his eyes again, Naruto was already gone without a trace. Looks like staying cooped up in this room had gotten boring for him too.
So Shiki continued cultivating chakra.
After Naruto returned later, the two shared a meal together. When Naruto suggested playing poker again, Shiki declined once more. With nothing better to do, Naruto soon went to bed feeling bored.
As for Shiki, he began training with renewed determination.
The next morning, when he reached that small forested street, he found Lee already hard at work training there.
In fact, Shiki could clearly see that Lee looked more driven than ever before.
Shiki asked in surprise, "Could it be that Rock Lee doesn't even sleep? Someone like him who relies purely on effort shouldn't skip classes normally, right?"
Amazed though he was, seeing how hard Lee worked inspired Shiki to silently begin his own training session as well.
Truthfully, after yesterday's workout, Shiki's entire body ached terribly throughout the day.
But he knew exactly why — which was why he absolutely couldn't stop now. If he stopped now, all his previous efforts would have been in vain.
His body was currently entering an adaptation phase. Once it became accustomed to this intensity, he'd be able to maintain this training regimen continuously.
This time, besides doing push-ups, striking wooden posts, and running like before, Shiki added shuriken throwing practice and kicking drills to his routine.
Though shuriken had limited use in high-level battles. Experts rarely used them at all in actual combat.
But Shiki still wanted to strengthen his basic skills.
Five meters… Ten meters…
Whenever Shiki successfully hit distant targets with his shuriken, a sense of pride swelled within him.
Watching his shuriken soar through the air, Shiki said, "At this rate, I'll probably become a Genin soon, right?"
Lee trained even more diligently. The two seemed like competitors, constantly striving to become stronger Ninjas.
